240. George Watt TAYLOR was born in Broadsea, Fraserburgh, Scotland. He was a Salesman in 1950 in Scotland. He Immigrated in 1951 to Canada. He served as a Merchant Marine in WW 2. His ship was blown up and sank in the Artic Ocean during this time. He was 1 out of 27 rescued from the sea that had 92 on board. He came to Canada in 1951 to Toronto, Ontario. He was a Stationery, Engineer. Retired 1986 frome Colgate Polmolive, Toronto, Ontario. When he retired from there, moved to Fenelon Falls. He now lives in Bridge North near Peterborough. He was married to Constance Moore BUCHAN (daughter of Robert Bruce BUCHAN and Maggie Jane DUTHIE) on 23 Aug 1945 in Rathen, Scotland. Constance Moore BUCHAN was born on 30 Mar 1926 in St. Combs, Scotland. Connie told about what it was like in St. Combs during the war. When she was 14 years old the German Planes would swoop down & open fire. On one instance she & a friend heard the plane & went running towards the house, he had started machine gunning at them, Connie made it in the house, but a bullet took her friends eye out. These raids happened quite frequently in the North East. As Connie got older, being no different than any other teen, she would stay out late, she told how her mum would be waiting behind the door, & cuff her up side the head soon as she walked through the door. Most of her row's were with her mum, Connie was dad's girl. She met George during the war, when his ship was in the harbour, he was doing ship maintenance, hanging by ropes painting the side of her. She Immigrated in 1951 to Canada. She was coming to be with her husband that had come earlier in the year. Connie and her three boys on a ship for a week, going to a strange & new country, she told me about landing in Halifax & catching the train to Toronto, how her children had never seen a darkie & started howling when the porter pocked his head in her berth and asked her if she needed anything. How hard it was coming from the small village of St. Combs to a large city like Toronto. Connie went back to Scotland about every 5 years to visit with her family there. In 1955, she took her boys back for the summer, and on the way back to Canada, how her boys threw her little ornaments out the porthole. She was a Clerk and retired in 1986 from H. Paulen, Papco, Scarborough, Ontario. She died on 1 Jul 1997 in Fenelon Falls, Ontario. She was buried in Aug 1997 in the family plot, in her homeland of Scotland. 247. James Duthie TAYLOR was born at 50 High St. New Pitslago, Scotland. He Immigrated in 1951 to Toronto, Ontario. He was a Diesel Machanic Machinist between 1972 and 1979 in Agincourt Shops, CPRail, Toronto, Ontairo. He was christened in Feb 1974 in St. Paul's United Church, Scarborough Ontario. He was a Heavy Duty Mechanic between 1979 and 1983 in Evan Products, Golden, BC. He became a Canadian Citizenship in 1981. He was a Heavy Duty Mechanic between 1985 and 1990 in Yoho & Glacier Nat'l Parks, BC. He was a Conductor/Trainman from 1991 with CPRail, Revelstoke, BC. As a child James went to St. Combs, with his brothers & Mum for a visit around 1955, during his time there he had some very interesting adventures. He talked about taking his granddad's boots and throwing them out the window, Richard & he weren't to be playing with them, about Richard getting a rock in his knee & his granddad digging it out with a knife. He & another lad hiding money under a rock & having the village believe the fairies had left it there. How folks didn't know what pop was because they called it lemonade. James remembers a lady called Lizzie Feleeds, that lived in the ground & that she was a hermit. Richard getting caught out on the pipe that went out in the ocean & the tide coming in & how a man went out and rescued him, otherwise he would have been swept under the tide. About meeting his namesake, Jame Duthie in Cairnbulg, & him giving James his medals. It was one of the best summers he ever had. He started working at CP Rail in 1972 and received an appenticeship as a Heavy Duty Mechanic Machinist. He moved to Golden, BC in the winter of 1979 and worked as a Bush Mechanic for Evans Sawmill. His family joined him in Feb 1980. In 1989 his family moved to Revelstoke, BC and in 1991 starting working on the CP Rail as a Conductor at the Revelstoke Division. He was married to Linda Mae HUNTINGTON (daughter of Timothy Sullivan HUNTINGTON* and Anna May (Mae) VAN HORN*) at Cliffcrest United, Scarborough, Ontario. Linda Mae HUNTINGTON was born at Toronto, Ontario. She was christened in West Hill, Ontario. Linda grew up in West Hill, just east of Toronto. Her interests, as a child were swimming and diving and skating. She attended Heron Park Public School and West Hill CI. She belonged to Girl Guides of Canada, CGIT, and the LOBA, Highland Star. Linda loves to dance and her brother Earl taught her how. Linda enjoyed visiting her older brothers, being the youngest they often spoiled her. As a child she went to the Manitoulin Island with her mother & visited with family there. She worked at Quality Records Ltd. and it was there that James and Linda met.They were married, bought their first house in 1972 and started having children. She also worked at Columbia Records and drove a school bus for handicapped children. They moved to Golden BC. Their children went to school there. She went back to school in Golden, BC and was trained in Industrial First Aid. She continued with her education, got her grade 12 and went to college for Office Administration. She Majored in Data Pro, Word Pro, and Typing and was on the Dean's List. They had a hobby farm and had poultry and horses and also a dog kennel raising Finnish Spitz dogs. She is also a Bookkeeper and started the books for companies in the Revelstoke area. She also does a lot of crafting including painting, stained glass pottery and woodworking. She has done sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, ribbon and floss, and needlepoint James Duthie TAYLOR and Linda Mae HUNTINGTON had the following children:

256 i. Jason James George TAYLOR was born in Scarborough, Ontario. He was christened in Scarborough Ontario. On Mae's and the Taylor's side Jason was the first grandson to be born. He attended school on Midland Avenue in Scarborough, Ontario for three years and in February 1980 the family moved to Golden, BC. He attended Lady Grey ES, Nicholson ES and Alexander ES, and Golden SS. He belonged to the Boy Scouts of Canada, Junior Forest Wardens, he did some BMX racing and won quite a few trophies. He also enjoys swimming, skating and skiing. In 1989 his parents and sister moved to Revelstoke, BC and he attended Revelstoke SS. He took up Snowboarding and along with his buddies have rented a helicopter and flew to the top of Mt. Mackenzie to snowboard down. They have also hiked to the top of the mountain at the Summit in Glacier National Park and snowboarded down. He has done Bungie Jumping and Sky Diving. He started working at a Sawmill part-time in 1991 and worked as a Hula Saw Operator until 2001,when he started to work at Elgin Construction, working on the Pingston Creek Dam. 257 ii. Renee Lyn Anna Constance TAYLOR was born in Scarborough Ontario. She was christened in Scarborough Ontario. In Feb 1980 she moved from Scarborough, Ontario, to Golden BC and attended Nicholson ES. She belonged to Girl Guides of Canada, won a Silver Medal in Figure Skating, has done some BMX Racing and picked up some trophies. She attended swim lessons also. She went to Golden SS, was part of Classical band and won a Music Scholarship in Grade 8. In 1989, her family moved to Revelstoke, BC and won the Sewing Award in Grade 9, was Miss Kinsman, Graduated at Revelstoke SS. She also likes to snowboard and rollerblade. She went to SAIT in Calgary to be a Commercial Baker and won a Scholarship there. She was a Commercial Baker at IGA, Calgary, but is now at Safeway, she got her Provincial Seal in June 2001.
