This is our boat, "Wandering Albatross" , a Motor Yacht  in a Gaff Sloop rig.  She is  what is termed here in Tasmania,  a "River Boat" a typical traditional design with a length of 20 feet . She was built of King Billy and Huon Pine in clinker planks,  in the early 30's making here nearly 70 years old. This timber is now a rare Tasmanian rainforest  endemic  from the wilderness of the West Coast. This timber was prized in the 1800's  and  to this date, as being  the finest of ship building timbers due to its strength, light weight and ability to resist rot and  worm infestation.

We have just purchased her this February 2000 in Tasmania,  and moved here from her birth at Beauty Pt  at the mouth of the Tamar Estuary to some 35 miles upstream at Launceston where the River is still very much tidal. She is powered by a 8ph  one cylinder Diesel motor. Being in mint condition it is our intention to keep this graceful old classic in this condition and have many happy days sailing on the Tamar Estuary.
