Reading from the main text, we see three personalities, namely Naboth who had a special possession (a vineyard) passed on to him by his fathers; Ahab (the king who had fallen out of favour with God) and Jezebel Ahab’s wife — a devilish agent through whom Ahab perpetrated his evil deeds.

Naboth’s vineyard was priceless and of so much value that it attracted the eyes of Ahab. It thus became an object of contention and to Naboth. parting with it was like parting with life itself because of its importance. Ahab used his position, offer of a "better alternative", money to persuade Naboth to sell his this vineyard. but Naboth would not yield, he must PRESERVE his only heritage — it is this serious!!

Significant lessons can be drawn from this event for our benefit. Brethren. we all have a precious, priceless, timeless possession which is an object of contention between the greatest God. our flesh. satan and the cosmic world. This possesion is life itself. ills the SOUL — OUR ONLY HERITAGE.

Every other thing will eventually go back to the dust of the earth from whence they have been taken, but the soul will go back to God for judgement. Eccl 12: 1 — 8, Eze 18:4; Rev 20: 12—15.

Would God our eyes are open to appreciate the worth of the soul. Lk 16: 23 — 31 contains the experience of the rich man and Lazarus as told us by Jesus. The rich man eventually realized the importance of the soul, but it was TOO LATE for him. Nothing can be compared with the soul Mt 16:26. It is our only heritage given us by God.

First, surrender your soul to God (if you have not done so) that it might live. Jesus calls you today. Come to him in deep repentance and confession, he will pardon and secure your soul even from now till eternity.

Second, recognize that the battle is on for the soul till our final departure from this world. Like Ahab, the enemies of our souls are constantly coming around all of us tempting us to sell our heritage for money or for an alternative. But like Naboth, let us resist to the end.

Flesh (the body) — through evil appetites, sinful inclinations and lifestyles, the flesh seeks to destroy the soul Gal 5:19—21.

Cosmic world — modern systems, end-time deceptions, inordinate sinful scenes, etc.

As Naboth kept the heritage unto death, we can not do less. The struggle is a serious one, but we shall win in Jesus name — amen.

Heb 10: 38 — 39. Join the company of the overcomers. Settle it in your spirit that you will not slide back, but stay on to the saving of the soul and pray always about it. Then you have to WATCH (II Thin 4: 1- 8). Watch over your words/your world; your actions: your thoughts: your commitment/consecration and your holiness. Do not ever compromise your faith, \‘ield not to suggestions of evil.
