Boys: Will Byrd managed to lead NA to victory on on good leg. He won both hurdles, running a smoking 15.4xfat in the prelims and easing 42 in the 300h. He was second in the 100, 2nd in the long jump with a 21' jump, 1st in the triple jump, he was 3rd in the shot, 2nd in the discus, and 6th in a strong field of high jumpers. Walsingham was 2nd lead by Scott Mcnelis's double in the 1600 and 3200. PC was a close 3rd lead by a strong distance crew that included Bobby Lindemann, John Gounley, and Steve Voltz. |

100M: This event caused some contraversy during the meet. Page(PC) who won the event badly false started in the the semis, but the starter couldnt get the gun to fire again to bring everyone back. So he called a lane violation, but on the wrong lane, and ended up dqing a walsingham runner who wouldnt have qualified for the finals anyway. The false start would have disqualified Page from the event. In the finals Page won a close race with Will Byrd who had just run the 110hs and hadnt run the 100M all season long. Adam Cohen(NA) ran his best time of the year to finish in third right on Byrds heals. |

200M: For some strange reason, Ben Cherry was not in the 200M, and with Spellmeyer running the 400-800-1600r it left the race between Page(PC) and Danny Yu(HRA). Yu pulled away in the last 30M and let out a yelp as he won his second event of the day(LJ earlier). Karol from Walsingham edged out Adam Cohen of Norfolk Academy for third. 400M: Collin Spellmeyer got out flying for the first 200, but Ben Cherry set his sights on him and reeled him in, pulling past an exhausted Spellmeyer in the last 30m of the race. Jeff Clinton, who was kicked off of the Norfolk Academy Track for infuriating his teammates time and time again did not score any points because like I said, he was kicked off the track team. |

800M: Both Walsingham and Peninsula Catholic made some unexpected decisions in this race. Walsingham did not run McNelis who was the favorite, and PC ran John Gounley who usually runs the 3200 instead. It was a very tight race, with Gounley running right on Spellmeyers shoulder the whole race, and the rest of the pack(Gibbs, Lindemann, Kimedy, and Cox) not being far behind. Spellmeyer used his speed to his advantage though, and shook off the hard-fighting Gounley over the last 60M. Third curve of 800M------------------------> |

1600: Nick Cox from NA decided that the best way to run sick was to take a 1600 out in 64 although he'd never run under 4:40. It was a mistake. However it did make the race closer than it should have been. Cox wore out McNelis in the process of wearing out himself, and the rest of the pack caught them both. The last lap was a dogfight, with McNelis using his superior talent to fight off Bobby Lindermana and Gounley who came 2 seconds short of McNellis, but they all broke 4:40. Cox fell to 6th in 4:51, possibly the fastest 6th ever at TCIS. 3200: Contrary to the beliefs of PC, this was a good race. The pack was very tight for the first 5 laps, and both 1st and 2nd were top 10 all time meet performances. Bobby Lindemann led for the first 7.5 laps, but then Scott McNelis took over and the pace which had dropped close to 80 second quarters picked up to about 72 second quarters. The tight lead pack then streched about 50 seconds, with McNelis going 10:09, Lindemann right over 10:20, Voltz and Celesia in the 10:40s and Harpen and Grenga in the 10:50s. |

110H: Norfolk Academy dominated this event, going 1-2-3 with Will Byrd, Davis Powell, and Richard Higham-Kessler. Byrd ran a 15.42 in the prelims and ran a 15.75 in the finals. Powell ran under 16.92, and Higham-Kessler ran just over 17 with a leg injury. Avery Waterman picked up 4th in 17.66 just barely beating Brian Gwiazdowski from Bishop Sulivan by one hundreth of a second. Jonathan Ramirez from NSA took 6th.
300H: Will Byrd eased a 42.36 for the win but both Avery Waterman and Rocky Rothrock gave chase which made an exciting finish at 2nd. The bigger Rothrock used his strength to surge and hold onto second running just 3 tenths of a second ahead of Waterman. King(HRA), Safco(PC) and Higham-Kessler(NA) rounded out the top 6.
400 Relay: This was a close race with Norfolk Academy holding a slight advantage coming into the final leg. But Bishop Sulivan moved by on the final leg and took the victory.
1600 Relay: This race would end all Walsingham whining that Page from PC caught a lucky break with Page not getting disqualified in the semis of the 100. On the opening leg, a four legged Walsingham fan ran onto the track and interfered with a few runners, and as other Walsingham fans tried to regain control of the one excited fan, they interfered as well, causing almost every runner to leave their lane. This event overshadowed a pretty good relay team put together by Norfolk Christian. Walsingham took 2nd, which put them back in front of PC on the team score, due to the makeup call of not dqing them for interference. Walsingham 4 legged fan decides to jump in-------> |

High Jump: The high jump was very competitive. Aaron Klansek from Greenbriar set a new meet record at 6' 4", breaking a 19 yr old record. Three people cleared 6': Matt Thames (NA), Rocky Rothrock (BSC), and Ryan Edlich (BSC). Thames and Rothrock tied for 2nd beating Edlich on misses, Chris Barker and Will Byrd both cleared 5' 10"
Long Lump: Will Byrd was hoping he wouldnt have to jump too many times here, but Danny Yu was fired up. Yu would edge out Byrd 21' 3" to 21'. Ryan Edlich was a half an inch from 20' for third. Hewitt, Page, and Karol were all over 19'.
Triple Jump: Will Byrd took one jump and that was enough. his 41' 5", far off his meet record of 45' was still 2 feet better than Danny Yu who took second. Davis Powell was third right under 39'. Page, Lampton(CH), and Pranciliauskas(W) filled out the top 6.
Shot: Taylor Harwin defended his title, throwing it 42' 7". Chris Brown from Walsingham took second with a heave just over 40'. Will Byrd was third with a mid-39' throw, and teammate Chris Barker took 4th just over 37'. Phillips(NSA) and Borges(HRA) rounded out the top 6.
Discus: Taylor Harwin defended his Discus crown as well, throwing over 127'. Will Byrd continued to rack up points slinging one over 120'. Borges, Phillips, and Brown all broke 100', Barker was 6th at 95'.
