1999 Camaro SS / Aluminum Block 302 |
THE PAST MEETS THE PRESENT ________________________ |
Recently debuting at the 2001 SEMA show in Las Vegas was the Camaro 302. Say What? That's right. Take an aluminum block 302 cubic inch engine, drop it into a 1999 Camaro SS, then add some SLP Engineering parts and voila!, the Camaro 302. Actually, it wasn't quite that easy, here are the specifics: - Advanced Airflow Engineering modified LS-6 cylinder heads - Custom built JE pistons and rods - High flow intake and mass air sensor - Lightweight flywheel - Underdrive pulleys - Aluminum differential cooler - Heavy-duty axle assembly (4.10:1 ratio) - Hotchkis Suspension - Baer Racing 14 inch rotors / PBR calipers - Carbon-fiber driveshaft - Koni adjustable shocks - Recaro seats w/ 5-point harnesses - LG Motorsports roll cage - 18" American Racing Torq Thrust wheels - B.F. Goodrich Z-rated rubber - Special striping and 302 badges Old-timers will remember that the original Z28 Camaro was equipped with a 302 engine. The new 302 Camaro is LS-1 based and delivers a healthy 435 horsepower at 6000 rpm. The car can be seen on the Camaro Legends Tour. |
