How to add custom Missions To Mech Commander Gold

Note: The directions are for if you use the defaults for installing MCG.(C:\Program Files\Microprose\MCX is default)

Part1

1. download the zip to your desktop and unzip it (it should have a DPK file in it ex. Uwar.Zip should contain Uwar.DPK)
2. leave it on the desktop and goto part 2

Part 2

To install and load a DPK file

1 Click Start, point to Programs, and then point to MicroProse.
2 Point to MechCommander Desperate Measures, and then click DPK Extractor.
3 Type the name of the DPK file or click Browse to find the file’s location (if you followed part 1 it should be on your desktop), and then click Extract. If you Do it correctly Mantis will say "I will Make this Quick" and a message box should say "<DPK name> has been extracted"
4 Open MechCommander Desperate Measures, and then find your DPK file in the list of available campaigns in either the Solo Mission or Multiplayer Mission list box.(this means whatever the DPK file was called should be in the solo missions button or when you host a game online you should be able to see it ex. the map.Uwar comes out of a file called Uwar.DPK and Uwar.DPK comes out of the Uwar.zip file can be skipped)

Part 3

1. Delete the DPK and ZIP from your desktop!

**FAQ**

Q. How Do I extract it?
A. You need Winzip (or any ZIP file extractor) and the DPK extractor included with MCG. first you need to take the DPK out of the ZIP by using WINZIP then you use the DPK extractor.

Q. Why don't you just put the DPK up? it's already compressed.
A. Even though I know the DPK compressed Yahoo Geocities Does not allow certain file name extensions only .EXE and .ZIP (and a few others) are allowed, .DPK extensions are not allowed on geocities.

Q. Can you put it in a .EXE fourm for me? I don't have a ZIP program.
A. Sorry I don't have a registered version of WinZip so it's illegal to make .EXE type compressions and give them out for me Sorry but you can download Winzip at http://www.winzip.com and use the ZIPed form.

Q. Where do I put the DPK?

A.It doesn't matter where it goes to acivate the map the DPK extractor included with MCG Must regiszter it. Listen again once you've unzipped the DPK you must extract the map using the DPK extractor.

Q. Why Can't I edit the maps?

A. Thanks alot to Microprose the DPK stops people from out and out stealing your map. It takes alot of searching through the MCG directories to get all the map files and send them to somebody.
