The following is a set of articles about topics that interest me. I would
like to add more detailed information about the battle of Midway but have been
working on other activities. Below this small naval summary, I have a directory
to individual chapters of the gospel of John. It is difficult for me to know who
may have blundered across this site, the Bible chapters are set up for easy
reading (hopefully). I will be working to add materials to this site that
interest me and hopefully others out there "in the ether".
To the left of
these words you will see an SR-71, which did a tremendous amount of recon during
the Cold War. Most of them are currently mothballed except for a couple used to
collect data by NASA. Their flights were higher and faster than any other
aircraft during their time, but required very large amounts of fuel.

The battle of Midway resulted from the attempt of the Imperial Japanese Navy to seize the island located in the central Pacific. U.S. attempts to break the Japanese Naval codes were successful enough to give warning of the attempt. The resulting conflict led to a decisive defeat and loss of large numbers of Japanese aircraft carriers.
The two major battles that preceded this one were Pearl Harbor and Coral Sea. Although the Pearl Harbor attack was successful, it left major tasks unaccomplished. The first was the defeat of American aircraft carriers. This oversight is evidence that the Japanese fleet did not receive help from a fifth column in Hawaii. Despite the loss of life and major capital ships, the sinking of numerous destroyers did not cause removal of essential American naval power from the Pacific. This is due to the subsequent use of naval aircraft as the primary striking force of both U.S. and Japanese navies. The second task left was the elimination of fuel stores at Pearl Harbor. The destruction of these facilities would have massively crippled the range of the U.S. fleet. But despite having overwhelming power, this was not accomplished by Admiral Yamamoto.
