Improving Success in 1st 15 Credit Hours

 

Library-DT: Information Literacy – Going beyond finding e-resources, the library helps students learn how to use and evaluate sources both through classes and embedded in GE 101 instruction. Contact: Sheree Williams

RDG/AS: Identification Training

Division faculty receive training on identifying and referring at-risk students in their courses. Contact: Reneau Waggoner

 

RDG/AS: Course At-Risk Training

Division faculty receive training in how to identify if their courses are inadvertently putting students at-risk. Contact: Reneau Waggoner

 

RDG/AS:  RDG/AS Learning Center - The center provides a full compleement of programs and learning aids to assist students in developing skills necessary for successful college work. Instructors are encouraged to take classes to the center for special assistance or to refer students individually. The center provides a full complement of learning workshops to students and faculty. RDG/AS: Alternative and Supplemental Instruction Center

The center has two primary functions:

         1. provide supplemental faculty and student support for the division’s reading and academic success courses

         2. create and pilot alternative instruction such as open entry/open exit instruction to accommodate students who have difficulty in a structured semester-long classroom or to enable students who can acquire the knowledge, skills, abilities and attitudes taught in the division’s courses in less time than a whole semester or, on the other hand, require more time than a standard semester. RDG/AS Tutoring Program

The RDG/AS Tutoring Program offers free-tutoring to our students. Students are entitled to two (2) frees hours of tutoring per week per student (as available).

                        Tutor Training

All tutors receive training on the advising mission, ethical practices, advisor/advisee responsibilities, confidentiality, and advising pedagogies. Contact: Candace Albers

 

Math – DT: Repeater Support “Math Mentor” – Students repeating MAH 055 is assigned a mentor. Contact: Caroline Martinson or Frank Pecchioni
