HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT

HONORS GOVERNMENT AND PRINCIPLES OF ECONOMICS SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS CAN BE PICKED UP AT THE STUDIES OFFICE AT O'CONNELL BETWEEN 9 a.m. AND 2 p.m. IF YOU DID NOT ATTEND THE MEETING AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.
ALL SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS ARE DUE ON THE FIRST FULL DAY OF SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER
These are marked and returned by 9/22/07

The work of the second quarter begins on Oct. 30
HONORS GOVERNMENT Will be assigned two essays per week. The essays will be given on Tues. and Friday. Tues. essays will be due on Friday and Friday essays will be due on Tuesdays. Essays will be evaluated as twenty percent of the final grade and tests will be forty percent of the final grade.

PRINCIPLES OF ECONOMICS will do homework assignments from the student's study guide, which accompanies the text. The class will have a guest speaker from the business community and we will follow the survey of economics from the text which was distributed on August 31st.

THIRD QUARTER HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT - GOVERNMENT
   Choose a Court Case
       Categorize it (Civil Rights; Industrial; Economic; etc)
       Write a background description of the topic and how it got to the                    court.
    Write the Verdict and the Vote
     Summarize the Ascenting Opinion
     Summarize the Decenting Opinion
     Name the Justices in both the Ascenting and Decenting Opinions
     Write an analysis of the effect of the verdict on the Political,                            Economic and Social Culture of the country.
                   Paper must be typed and contain references.

PRINCIPLES OF ECONOMICS
       Choose a World Organization that has an effect on the Global Economy    and give a report on:
   The countries that belong to it
   The trade on which it focuses
   The countries that are involved
    The degree of freedom in marketing it has
   Conclude with an opinion on its influence on the global economy.
