My tests are mostly multiple choice because they are testing facts, definitions and low-level concepts. The other side of curriculum is application. Application mostly deals with the question, "why?" I have found it almost impossible to force a student to apply. This must come from within. I do want to provide opportunities for students to apply, however, and the application projects are an attempt to do so. According to the guide, How To Survive My Class (see under Organization tab on the home page), students will do an application project each five week grading period for a percentage of their grade. Below is a copy of the grading rubric I use to grade and a copy of the Application projects list from which I draw my questions. The design project is the large project I used to do with students but have had to cut back on because of time constraints. The Application Projects are quite tame in comparison. | |||||||
