State Approved Textbooks Page
The following are the state-approved textbooks I use in my classroom. Remember that while these textbooks are state-approved and I use them, they are not standards-driven. These books are, at best, referrenced to the California Content Standards. The notes I use in class in addition to these textbooks are directly from the California Content Standards. I have written my feelings on this issue many times but reiterate here, the textbooks used in classrooms clearly run contrary to the state mandate to teach from the content standards. It is based on this hypocrisy that I assert to the reader that the educational system is really not committed to the concept of content standards. Nonetheless, for now the mandate to teach from the content standards remains in place and I teach directly from the content standards. My published notes stand as evidence of exactly what I feel the standards represent.

It is totally up to the parent, but I would recommend purchasing your own copies of textbooks to give to your student so they can mark up the text and make it their own. The concept of borrowing books is noble on the part of the public education system but detimental in the long-run as it does not allow the full use of a textbook. I would like to see textbooks given to students. I personally have a hard time accessing written material without marking it up. The links below can be used to purchase textbooks. Check out some of the used book deals. The prices are quite resonable.
