Pictures of A Resource Room
I run a K-3 Resource Room. Below are pictures of my room.
![]() This is the listening center. I use this for reward time. Also, I will record our stories from our reading program. The students practice reading the stories here as they listen to them. They also have the opportunity to record themselves reading the story. They then determine by listening to themselves read, if they read the story fluently. |
This is my reading center. Each student has their own reading box. Their boxes have four books that they have chosen. They choose from my book area and they must pick a book at their reading ability level. They practice the books until they feel that they are ready to read them to the group. If they read the book fluently, with expression, and without mistakes, they get to pick a new book to add to their box and they write the book they read on their book chart. Once they have read 10 books to my liking, they get their chart, a Super Reader Certificate, and a choice of their favorite candy bar. Then, a new chart is begun. |
These are my leveled books that I discussed above. I use them for Guided Reading and for the book boxes mentioned above. |
Here is a view of one corner of my room. I have lots of white boards. I love them - you can create magnetic activities for the kids with them. I also have found pocket charts to be a must have. I have one for each of my four AM and 4 PM groups. My groups come in back to back - this makes it very easy to switch gears and be ready to go for the next group. I just switch to a previously prepared pocket chart. I wish I would of thought of this last year. You can do so much with these things!!!! The chair in the corner is usually where I sit for our floor lessons. I usually start my lessons on the floor. Then we stretch and move to the group table seen below. I try to get the kids up and moving often. I usually have a group for an hour and I feel that it is important to take stretch break (Simon Says) and to change locations in the room. It is amazing what we can get done in an hour. This is where I doing my READ WELL, READING REFLEX, WORDBUILDING, and where the students do their class-work and independent work. It is a table with eight chairs. Behind the table I try to keep all my resources and lesson materials handy. Each group has a notebook that contains the lessons and materials needed for the lesson. The toolkits seen behind the table are where I keep my WORDBUILDING sounds and READING REFLEX cutouts. |
Here is another view of the room! Thanks for visiting!!! |
