Reaching Out to Ukrainian Orphans
Ukrainian Orphans Need Your Help

Dear Friends,
Our son, Jake, was 7 1/2 when we adotped him on June 25, 2002 from Roschitsa Orphanage in Kramatorsk, Ukraine.  At that time, Jake was only the size of an average five-year old; he could barely old a pencil due to poor fine motor skills; and he had had no formal education.

The orphanage staff does its best to provide for the 62 boys and girles between th ages of three and seven who lve there, but its resources are severely limited.  The hcildren have few toys, old clothes, torn shoes, and nurtirtionally void meals.  The caretakers have meager supplies of bitamins, medicine, and first aid materials.

We ask you to assist us in our mission to help the  chidrenoeft behind by donating items from the donation list.

Horrid Hospitals
Whether they are ill or not, children are often sent to hospitals for extended stays.  Large groups of children are sometimes quarantined in hopsitals even if only one or two chidlren in the group are sick.

After meeting Jake on June 18, 2002, his entire orphanage group was quarantined in a run-down, but-ingested, infectious disease hospital for six days.  When we were finally given permission to visit Jake on June 22, he clung frantically to two small blue beads--his only play things.  The children were restricted to a small room without toys, books, or coloring materials.  We adopted Jake on June 25, but his group was still confined to the hospital.

Help relieve the mindless boredom.  Please donate toys, coloring materials, and backpacks so we can create 20 hospital packs for the orphanage to send to the hospitals with the children.

You Can Help the Orphans
You can help the orphans at Roschitsa.  Please gather new and gently used items from the donation list so that we can ship them to the children in Kramatorsk.

We plan to gether donations until January 20, 2004, for a bulk shipment, which should arrive at the orphanage between the end of February or the middle of March.  Together, we can reach out to the needy orphans in Ukraine.

God Bless,
The Hanlon Family,
John, Debra, and Jake
