| The scene was set for Team Boycee glory. After weeks of preparation, all calls for a 'no-drinking' Saturday night were ignored and the Boys hit Taunton hard. Waking up on a fresh Sunday morning, the team met at Taunton Rugby Club with a posse of support, including some bird with cracking breasts (giving Col the eye all day- apparently?). After a lengthy warm up session and team motivational talks, it was time to play the first game vs. Home opposition Taunton RFC. Right from kick off, Team Boycee showed off the flare and knocked up 2 early tries in the first minute of the game. This left everyone shell shocked, and early bets were being made as to Boycee wiping the floor and taking the cup! Final score 40-14 to Team Boycee with tries from Henry, Colin, Jimmy, Simon, Ollie and John. Next game, up against UWIC Uni Stormers, smart outfit. Ended up losing due to lack of motivation, big headedness from the first game. 3rd game up against Cheltenham Uni. Team Boycee easily the stronger side but a few poor tackles led to even stevens on try count. Ended up losing due to missing two easy conversions in front of the posts. This put us into the Plate. The Plate saw us up against Taunton RFC, and once again Team Boycee too strong, ending up narrow winners by 2 points. Off into town for beers, ended up with team bonding between the younger OQ's and the older OQ's, in the form of a hedge and blows were taken!! Does anyone remember anything from that night- accept lightweight Hobden getting thrown out and lying naked on the hotel bed dribbling!! Boycee! |
