Army of Darkness
Can this movie even be classified as a horror flick?  Possibly.  Should it?  Do penguins ever dress casual?

In this third installment to the Evil Dead saga, we find our hero, Ash, transported to the 13th century England.  Well that's just ducky.  Apparently, King Arthur mistakes Ash for one of Duke Henry the Red's men.  Ash and the good Duke are taken to Arthur's castle.  Hmmm....not going to have them over for tea and crumpets, me thinks.  Nope, the punishment for opposing Arthur is...THE PIT!  Yeah, that's right, a big hole in the ground that is infested with the evil dead...or deadites as they are called in this movie.

Well, after the firslt guy basically cannonballs into the pit, it's Ash's turn.  However, he's not going down without a fight.  Luckily a wiseman tosses him the chainsaw that has become his new hand.  Ash makes quick work of the deadites, and narrowly excapes the closing spikes.  Makes you wonder, if the deadites kill all the people that go down there, how did they put spikes on the pit?  Regardless, Ash crawls out of the pit and puts the smack down on Arthur, then he frees Henry and his men.

After getting the royal treatment, Ash is told he must retrieve the Necromicon in order to get home.  So, our hero sets out to get the book.  Along the way, he swallows a miniature version of himself, and spawns a man-sized Bad Ash.  Bad Ash?  More like Special-Ed class Ash.  A quick shotgun blast point blank to the face, followed by a full body dismemberment sends this reject from hell on his way.  Ash makes it to the resting place of the book...a cemetery.  Gee, like that isn't obvious.  However, there are three books there.  One is a mini-black hole that sucks Ash in.  Luckily he excapes with little more than a stretched out face...Don't ask.  The second book is a bat like craeture that basically bites Ash's hand and flaps around like a moron.  He never did get back to that book though.  (joke for people that saw the movie)  Finally he gets the real one.  But, in order to safely remove it, Ashe must recite the words Klatu Verata Nicktu.  Yeah, the words from
The Day the Earth Stood Still (an old old old movie, rent it sometime).  Of course Ash messes the words up, and the army of the dead awakens.  Including Bad Ash, who is now tougher than he was.

All Ash wants to do is get home.  But, the kidnapping of his love interest, Sheila, convinces him to stay and lead the army against the deadites.  He uses modern technology like gunpower and the steam engine to create weapons of mass deaite destruction.  And after a comical, yet action packed battle with Bad Ash, our hero wins the day.

And finally he comes back home, to his old job at S-Mart.  As he tells the story to a co-worker, Ash realizes that he didn't say the works he needed to say to get back home.  He always fumbles on that Nicktu part.  So, of course, a deaite attacks him, but Ash is prepared.  Armed with a shotgun he blasts that deadite into swiss cheese.  Then he kisses some girl and the movie ends.

In our humble opinion, Army of Darkness was the best one, blending both horror and comedy.  Plus it made Ash a lot tougher than before, which was a plus.
