It all started out with a wheelin trip to Buck Meadows in the 4th of July weekend in '96. TJ brought his 71' Ford Bronco out for the first time. They found a huge mud pit and started tearing through it. After a while, Jake begged TJ to let him drive the Bronco through the mud pit. Finally TJ gave in to Jake's whining and let him give it a try. So Jake put the pedal to the metal and tore through the pit making a huge mud splash. But it was too much for the old Bronco's radiator mount bolts, which broke loose causing the radiator to fall into the fan blade and get chewed up. There were no rigs present to tow the Bronco back to camp, so TJ and Jake had to push it back into the woods and hide it for the night. The next day, TJ and Scott got up and drove 120 miles back home to get the radiator out of Scott's old Ford Fairlane. After they got back to camp they threw the new radiator in the back of Quinn's truck and headed back up to the mud pit to fix the Bronco. On the way up the Quinn accidentally drove up a big stump on his left and rolled his truck on it's side. He couldn't see because there was a lot of dust on his winshield and the sun was shining right in his eyes. When the truck rolled, everything in the bed went flying out, including all of Scott's tools and the spare radiator. The good news was that Dunny didn't spill his beer in the roll over. But no one had a winch, so getting Quinn's truck back up wasn't easy. Luckily, they were able to use the same stump that flipped him over to get him back upright by wrapping a chain around it. After getting his truck back up on all wheels and picking up all the shit that flew out, they continued on. When they finally got the new radiator in place, they noticed that the hoses were on opposite sides. But they managed to get that problem solved by making a few mods and using some extra hose. When they stated filling up the radiator they noticed that it was leaking from a few small holes that got punched in the radiator when it flew out of Quinn's truck. So they got everyone to chew some bubble gum to plug up the hole as best as they could while TJ drove the Bronco off the trail. But it only slowed the leak down and they still had to stop by every creek to get more water to keep the radiator full. Finally, they managed to get it down to the main road where a tow truck could take the busted Bronco the rest of the way home. That wheelin trip turned out to be a total nightmare, Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition.............. |
