NW_SVT vs NWF-Body Kart challenge Results!

The 1st annual NW_SVT vs. NWF-Body club kart endurance challenge was a real nail biter, and went off without a hitch..OK, maybe a small hitch.  At 12:04, the green flag dropped, signaling the start of our one hour battle.  Everything was going great, we had a good clean start and everyone was in a nice scrap.  Then Drew Mhyre let me know that the Team Overbudget Racing kart was not on the scoreboard!  Next, Joe Waldron notified me that one of the karts (his team kart) was not showing laps completed after lap 6!  Yikes!  After a short chat with the track owner, the race was red flagged, and the lame karts where swapped out. The green flag flew once again, and in 1 hour, we would have a new champion.  We had nice tight battles between all of the teams.  Lots of passing and fighting for position.  Steve Sampson with Team Late Apex, was moving ahead from the back of the grid.  He was now in 3rd place, on lap 12, when the wheel bearing on the right front wheel let go.  This sent him to the hot pits for a kart change.  I think Pat and Steve had a good chance of moving to the front for a win. Meanwhile, at the front.  Team Overbudget Racing is leading the race, with Mario Kart Racing 1 lap down, but still a threat.  These two teams went with the 1 stop strategy.  Overbudget Racing seamed like the team to beat, but with about 15 minutes to go, a slight miscue by driver Clarke Jewell sent the kart into the tire wall.  The kart was stuck in the tires long enough to put the hopeful team a lap down to Team Mario Kart.  Cheers AND Tears filled the paddock, as the NW_SVT club lost the lead postion to the NWF Club.  And that is the positions they would keep though the checkered flag. Once again, thanks to all the drivers and teams that made it out to make this race a success.  And congratulations to the winners.  I know many of your are already looking foward to next year's race.
