Below you will see some of the family
pieces I was fortunate enough to get from my Grandparents home (my mothers parents). I will treasure them always!
This organ belonged to my Grandpa's sister Helen, who was my Grandmothers best friend. Shortly after they where married their cherished Helen passed away, from what we think was a bleeding ulcer. She was 19. She left this organ to them, and it was to hold an honered place in their home. I do not believe it was ever played again after Helen died untill it came to me.
this dresser from my grandparents home also , with it's
lovely harp shaped mirror it is very pretty, on top an oil lamp, my fathers family bible and a pitcher and bowl.
This one I remember well, funny how much taller it seemed when I was a child.
Handkerchief drawers, and little shelves for oil lamp or candles. This dresser and the following bed are a set that where my grandfathers boyhood bedroom furnature.  I am sure it was old at the time, so it is uncertin how old this really is.
It is definately a favorite of mine. In my grandparents home it was placed in the hired hands room. Can you guess who the hired hand was ?
  It was my father :)
here a hat and a braid, under  them an old handkerchief.
WWII era, ration stamps and a game called Trap The Jap
and here is grandpa's old bed, it is a three quarter bed, larger than a single and smaller than a full. We had a new matterss and box springs custon made to fit it, si it is quite comfy now, unlike it would have been with the iron springs and old mattress it came with!
The quilt is one my fathers Aunt made and gave to me when I was a very little girl. I have always treasured it,
This old chest traveled around with my fathers parents in the covered wagon they and their kids lived in, and I am sure it was old then although it's history has been lost.. ( they where share-croppers, and traveled the Tenn.and Oklahoma hills, I suspect they also had a moonshine business also. When dad came to Iowa he brought it with him, and it continued to be used as an old blanket chest.
