Our instructors have successfully trained many breeds of dogs.  From the smallest Miniature Poodles and Yorkshire Terriers to the giant breeds St. Bernards and Great Danes. As well as having wll behaved family pets, our students have earned over 500 Obedience and Flyball Titles.

All dogs need training,  seven week old puppies do not know that it is unacceptable to nip at your hands, chew your shoes or pee on the carpet. Someone must educate them as to what is acceptable behaviour.  Our goal is to educate you, so that you, can train your dog. The key to enjoying your dog is understanding how the dogs preceive his enviroment and his role in the family.  The key to dog training, is knowing which behaviours to reward and which behaviours to deter.  Then applying this knowledge in a manner that will be efficient, practical and easily understood by the dog.

When your dog is trained you then not only have a well trained companion but you'll have an opportunity to participate in many canine related activities: Fun Matches, Obedience Trials, Flyball and Agility.

Tips for training your puppy

- To raising a puppy you can live with, the training, should start as early as possible. Ideally, this should be at 7 weeks old, when they not only start to learn but retain what they learn. -  Puppy training should consist of developing a pattern of behaviour that you the owner, will find acceptable in an adult dog. This is fairly easily achieved by consistant behaviour on your part. Do not allow unacceptable behaviour to develop because "he is only a puppy." this catch phrase can be used to excuse all kinds of unwanted behaviour. - Your puppy can and must learn the rules of your household from the first day he enters your home. - Take the puppy out and about with you in order to socialize him, making sure all his experiences are pleasant ones, particularly his encounters with people. Your puppy's early associations tend to make a lasting impression. - Teach the puppy where his bed is, use a word "bed" and place him in his bed or crate. - Use his name and the word "come" to call him when you are going to feed him. - DO NOT use the puppy's name in association with discipline.
