iii. Water play should always be supervised, and teachers should stress the importance of never swimming alone. iv. Poison safety involves removing potential toxins from children's environment while teaching them not to eat unknown substances or put nonfood items in their mouths. v. Personal Safety a) Children should be taught about strangers, and how to distinguish strangers from familiar people. b) Children should be taught to distinguish "good" and "bad" touching. c) Latchkey children stay alone at home after school, and may have special safety concerns. D) Health and safety information can be integrated with each other and with other content areas. Teachers should point out health and safety aspects of regular classroom activities. E) Diversity can be explored by involving families in class explorations of different foods. |
