Welcome to Child Growth & Development (TECA 1354)! This course focuses on child growth and development from conception through adolescence. The course requires text and online readings, a variety of assignments which will be described later, quizzes, essays, portfolio, video viewing,  lab observation hours, resurce notebook, any other assignments deemed important by the instructor, group work, and a final.  
  
INTRODUCTION
This course offers an orientation to the study of child growth and development from conception through adolescence. The focus is on the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional domains of development with emphasis on determining teacher roles, the preferred learning environment, and appropriate learning content for meeting individual differences and cultural diversities of young children. This is a required course for all education majors.  Fifteen lab observation hours are required.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course in an introduction to child growth from conception through adolescent growth and development which serves as the foundation upon which practical work with children is based. The focus is on the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional domains of development with emphasis on determining teacher roles, the preferred learning environment, and appropriate learning content for meeting individual differences and cultural diversities of young children. This is a required course for all education majors. Regularly scheduled observations of children are required.
ON LINE PARTICIPATION
This course is offered on line, over the Internet. Assignments should be completed and successfully submitted, so that they are received by midnight of the day assigned (unless otherwise specified).

NOTE: Because this is an online course designed to give feedback on assignments to you directly via Internet, you are expected to complete your work via Internet. If you ever have problems transmitting your assignments to me, contact me immediately.  There is no penalty for early submissions, but there will be one point per day deducted for assignments submitted late, no matter what the reason. Assignments will not be accepted after the due date of the next assignment except with instructors written permission. To avoid penalties, always plan to submit early giving you a chance to beat the deadline even with "technical difficulties."
