Ground Rules and Email Etiquette for Online Participation 1. Assignments will be accepted after orientation. TECA1354 500 Child Growth & Devel CasstevensA 2. Students should use e-mail for private messages to the instructor and other students. 3. Conventions of on-line etiquette, which include courtesy to all users, will be observed at all times. You must read the Internet Code of Conduct page and be familiar with these rules. 4. Students may get assistance with computer-related problems through the instructor. 5. Students will submit papers in TaskStream unless otherwise instructed.. 6. Always include your name and the title/number of the assignment at the beginning in the body of your email. On the subject line, Include Your Name – Assignment number – Title of assignment. EXAMPLE: Ann Casstevens TECA 1354 Assignment 1 Email Address 7. When submitting more than one assignment, always use separate emails. 8. Emails using the wrong subject line may not reach me. 9. I always respond to your emails if only to say 'I received your message.' or “I got it.” If you do not get a response from me, I probably did not get your email. Check to make sure you had the appropriate subject line. When I respond, I click the 'reply to sender” button. The reply goes straight back to the address from which you sent your original message. If you sent your message from a friend's machine, or work, or school, that's where the response will go. If you send your message from work, don't expect my response to go to your home. 10. You are welcome to print out your syllabus and assignments. However, keep in mind that the official syllabus and schedule are online. You are responsible for knowing any changes that are made. 11. You are expected to read the textbook and any supplementary reading material sent to you. Academic Honesty Institutional policies are in effect. All your work must be your own, unless collaboration is authorized, in which case you must, in writing, acknowledge the help you have received. Presenting as one's own the words, ideas, or expressions of another in any form is cheating through plagiarism, and will not be tolerated. The claim of ignorance is no excuse. Grading Policy Your grade is this course will be determined as follows: SEE HANDOUT FROM ORIENTATION *Participation consists of 1. Contacting the instructor a minimum of once a week. 2. Assignments submitted on time. 3. Attending orientation A = 90-100 B = 80-89 C = 70-79 D = 60-69 F = below 60 Textbooks Books may be purchased in your campus bookstore.
