Manish Hatwalne

This is Manish, the person behind TechnoFunDo site. If you are reading this, you probably want to know more about me. I am a software professional from Pune, India. I have put up my brief profile here and I have also included information about some of my other interests. I am interested in lot of things, but due to my professional commitments I cannot devote much time to my leisure activities; but I do indulge whenever I have spare time and if I am not catching up on sleep. ;))

Location & Profession

I am currently based in Pune, India; which also happens to be my home! :) I work as a software consultant here, and work mostly involves server side Java/Struts/J2EE (without EJB load).

As of now in 2006, my work involves Server-Side Java/J2EE, Struts, Velocity and related technologies for a large enterprise level B2B solutions product based copany in US. This product is highly scalable and customizable with omnipresent web based interface. I am handling design & development of this product with a senior PM from US having Ph.D. in Coputer Science and over 20 years of expereince. I have been associated with this product since it was a concept in pre-beta stage and have been instrumental in shaping it up from a small Swing prototype to a full-fledged scalable & customizable enterprise B2B application.

In the past, I have been involved in development of lots of games (Java applets, midlets and WAP), e-commerce, server components, web technologies and desktop applications. I enjoy server side development, though I am not a big fan of server side scripts. I have had an opportunity to work on all three flavors of Java; viz - J2SE or core Java, J2EE for enterprise applications and J2ME for Java enabled mobile devices. Besides, I have also worked on C++, WAP, ASP, JavaScript etc. (Though it has been long ago, back in 99 to 2001). I personally love Java and C++. I'd also love to get associated with C++ development in some way at some stage of my career. Software development related to protocols, communication, network, instant messaging, email, web technologies interests me a lot. And yes, I prefer not to do VB programming (???!!!); EVER!

Technical Articles

I love writing, both technical and non-technical stuff. Incidentally, some of my articles have been published on other sites as well! ;)) In fact, one of them somehow became the most viewed article of the week (10 June 2002 - 17 June 2002) on codeproject.com!!! There were other articles published during that week, of course!

Seriously, in the future I'd love to write technical books, I am genuinely interested if there are any offers. Let's see....

Co-Author

Well, I haven't yet written any technical book as such, but I have worked as a co-author of the leading Java certification products - J@Whiz and SCJPUpgrade@Whiz from whizlabs.com. These two products are commercial mock exam simulators which include question bank for the Java certification exam along with a detailed and thorough explanation. Author@Whizlabs

Other Activities

Leisure

When I am not doing something related to computers, I indulge in some of my other interests. I love reading non-fiction books. Some of my favorite authors are Richard Bach, Hugh Prather, Bill Cosby and likes. I have listed some of my favorite books in the gifts sections. Of late, I have become a big fan of Daniel Goleman's Emotional Intelligence. I am reading it as a text book and trying to use it in everyday life. Believe me, that's tough!! ;))

I also love listening to various genres of music, from ghazals to rock. Some of my favorite artistes are Air Supply, Lobo, Kenny Rogers, Bryan Adams, Cliff Richards, Dire Straits, Sting, Kenny G (saxophone), Hariprasad Chaurasia (flute), Ghulam Ali, Mehadi Hassan and Yesudas. I have also developed a micro-site dedicated to the ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali, and as far as I know this is the largest amount of information available about Ghulam Ali and his ghazals.

Like I said earlier, I love writing and I enjoy expressing myself through my writings. I have written few articles for the newspaper Indian Express. Also, some of my creative writings have been published on IndiaNest.com/Boloji.com.

Traveling on my bike is something that I enjoy immensely. I usually travel with few close friends or occasionally I travel alone. This really unwinds me like nothing else can ever do. I really look forward to such outings, but recently due to work commitments this has become quite infrequent. Though, I did manage to complete a Himalayan Trek in June 2004 and it is one of my best memories! :)

You can if you require a Software Developer/Java Developer for any assignment. I might be interested in writing technical non-technical articles as well depending on frequency and subjects.
