I dont know what the youth of Melsele (nearby Antwerp in Belgium) was up to for the evening Keith and the Dropout Rebel Genius band were to be playing Djem, but enjoying a concert of Keith Caputo was definately my only option. Me, I drove about 80 miles to see Keith.
Starting off with 2 new songs ( I suppose the 1st song was from the new album, song entitled Charade ) those who never heard Keith Caputo' solo music knew from the start what they could expect from the start. Soulful classic songs brought by a man with a huge expressive voice, warm personality, and a very emotional appearance.       In songs like "Honeycomb" (many people in the audience recognized the intro immediately), "Cobain" New York City and Razzberry Mockery, you could hear how good the man is and what a great band the exquisite songwriter gathered around him to fill the vibe of the music. The audience applauded loudly between songs. Strange moment: A drunken man pulls himself up onstage, takes the microphone and starts off shouting weird things. It looked as if Keith did not know what the man wanted, so Keith handed him the microphone only to have the stranger grab hold of him and not let go. Nevertheless, the disturbance couldn' stop Keith from doing his thing. Keith actually couldn't stop laughing while his road crew dragged the weirdo outside. Like of a rockartist can be hard indeed.
After the concert, people kept shouting and singing for an encore (I felt part of a football-aidience who shouted at the referee). After a few minutes, Keith came back to sing another new song. Beautiful, emotional, and quiet.

A great concert. Much respect, Keith.
