Day 1 My vintage rice burner. This is the way the bike looked on June 16, 2002. With the help of my wife's father, we loaded the bike in stages onto the back of a GMC pickup. Unloading it was a lot easier. I gathered the info from the manufacture plate, took a few pics, then covered it with my BMW car cover. |

Day 2 Started pricing out carb kits, headlamp, indicators, steel wool brushes etc. Most of this stuff is very hard to come by. Found a place in the UK that will have the kits in two weeks. Trying to locate a repair guide on ebay. |

06-20-02 Ordered the repair manual for the bike. Can't wait to get it. Next step is taking off the tank and the carb and cleaning. Next, found a place with the exact carb kit in the U.S. Will order soon. |

Took off twin carbs and cleaned. Some of the gas turned to gum so it took a while to clean it. I used a whole can of carb cleaner. Swapped out the jets and floats. Reassembled carbs and put back on bike. |
Disassembled the front disk brakes and rear drum. Brake calipers were totalled so I'm looking for a new brake kit. While I'm at it I need a new chain. I think I can keep the original gas tank but it needs a hell of a chemical rinse. |
