Do you use corporal punishment to discipline children in your care?
No, I (nor any future employee) will ever use corporal/physical punishment to reprimand children in my care. I rely on the time out method (usually 1 minute per year of age—ex: 2 years old= 2 minute time-out). When the child is allowed off of time out I also question them as to what they have learned about the undesirable act/behavior (did it get them rewards or punishment), and what better choices they think are available for next time (ex: child hitting another child--not hit the other child due to being mad but come and talk to an adult about their anger, talk out their feelings with the other child, etc.).

How many children are in your care?
The number varies. We have full-time and part-time children. The maximum amount of children in my care per day is 6 (unrelated children).

What are your hours of operation?
I am open to care for children of all ages 24/7. I do not limit my days to weekdays nor my hours to typical 9-5 care. I understand not all parents work the same schedule and can easily accommodate any schedule.

I need emergency care. How much notice do you need?
As any provider, I appreciate as much notice as you can give but can easily accommodate any of your last minute childcare needs. You could call me and drop off 5 minutes later. No problem.

Is there an extra charge for overnight or emergency/last minute care?
No. My charges are listed and are the same no matter how much notice you give or the hours you need my services.

Are unscheduled visits allowed when my child is in your care?
Parents are welcome to pop in at any time except I strongly discourage visits during naptimes so as not to disturb our resting children. I know how hard it is to leave your child in another’s care especially in this day and age with soo many untrustworthy childcare providers. Simply stop by….you are always welcome here.

Where will my child sleep/nap?
I have sleep mats, sleeping bags, and portable playpens for sleep. Infants sleep in a separate area/room away from older children/toddlers.

When and how often do I pay for your services?
Payment is to be made weekly/bi-weekly-monthly on the last day of the week in which your child is scheduled to attend TeddyBear Childcare. If your child’s last day is Thursday, then payment is to be made on that Thursday. Payment for services is made in advance of use.

If paying by check, to whom do I make it payable?
Please make all checks and money orders out to: Nicholas Bucelli. Cash is preferred.

What kind of activities will my child participate in while in your care?
This answer depends on your child’s age; all activities will be age-appropriate. Some activities will require your child to have help completing (which I, or an aide will gladly help). An example of some basic activities are: Making puppets, Singing songs, Theme related activities (focus on numbers, colors, alphabet, seasons, etc.), Making fun snacks (they will never handle hot, sharp, or potentially dangerous objects), Swimming (with parental permission form complete—in summer), Walking trips to the Park, Musical Chairs, games, etc., Story Time—reading, being read to, acting out the story, Free Play…activity of your child’s choice, Gym—physical activity to help the children stay in shape and have fun

Will the children always be cared for in your home or will they also play outside weather permitting?
This is dependant upon the weather and season. The children are able to play in the large fenced-in backyard and in front of my home. We often visit the local playgrounds/parks for the children to have some fun. There is a swingset in my backyard.

Do the children view television?
Though we do not rely on the television to entertain your child(ren), we do watch television at times. All movies/shows/music will have a “G” rating of course.

My child takes prescription medication/receives treatments…will you administer the medication/treatments?
Yes, simply complete the medication permission form and provide me with a letter from your physician stating the name of the medication, dosage amounts, and times (for legal reasons). I require the medication to be sent in the original container (you can ask the pharmacist for an additional LABELED bottle for childcare). Please make sure the container is child-proof.
