~ The Disney World According to Mona! v 3.14 ~
The Disney World According to Mona! is my yearbook, for a lack of a better word, of my life from 1995-2000. The pictures above are just a glimpse of the life I had for five years. The long-life friendships, very dear memories, a love and understanding of the corporate world, and the 30+ people I call my ex-roommates happened because I saw a simple green poster of Mickey Mouse asking students to attend an orientation to work at Walt Disney World back in 1993. The first time I interviewed, I received a rejection by then College Recruiter Rick Neely. That didn't stop me, I re-applied the following spring and ended up working Walt Disney World Resorts in Orlando, FL on two WDW college programs and two advanced internships. Locations I've worked: Soundstage Restaurant & Rosie's Red Hot Dogs on Sunset Blvd during summer 1995, and the World Famous Jungle Cruise the following summer. I lost my voice several time in the Jungle, so one day I worked as greeter at the Haunted Mansion, that was way fun. "Please fill in all the available dead space. [pointing at the space in front of the guest] Look dead space, fill it!" I had a great time fall of 1997 working at Magic Kingdom guest relations. Then after graduating from Auburn University (Alabama), I moved down to Orlando and finished off my last advanced internship with Florida Tourist Sales. For nine months in 1999, I worked with a 3rd party marketing firm being an overpaid cast member with the IBM exhibit at Innoventions. I left Orlando for good August 2000 and would go back in a New York minute if I had a marketing job with WDW.
