INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE:

Jesus, the Rock of our Salvation

Memory Verse:
Luke Ch. 6:47-48: Jesus says, "Anyone who comes and listens to me and obeys me is like someone who dug down deep and built a house on solid rock."

Lesson:
A rock may be very large or it can be small. Rocks are always hard. Rocks are never found in the sky. They are only found on the ground. Some rocks are small enough to put into your pocket. Very, very small rocks are often called stones. You can hold many in your hands. Other rocks are so large and heavy it takes a large machine to lift them. These very large rocks are called boulders. Whether they are stones you can collect or boulders than you cannot move, no rock is soft like a marshmallow. No rock is squishy like a sponge. No rock melts like an ice cube.

Our lesson title says Jesus is the rock of our salvation. A Jesus rock seems very different from the rocks we find. Have you ever picked up a rock and found the name of Jesus written on it? Think about this: Have you ever stood on a big rock? Have you ever climbed from one rock to another? Did it feel good to stand on that rock? Was it wobbly or was it strong and hard? A wobbly rock would be scary and we would be afraid to fall. A solid rock feels good under our feet.

The rock of Jesus is strong and solid. On one side of the rock is the name of Jesus. On the other side of it, the word salvation. Who knows the meaning of the word salvation? Salvation is a large word that means we are saved, and will one day go to heaven.

Jesus wants us to feel safe. He wants us to be happy. He wants to know we can trust him. He is strong and solid.
