"Travis"
13/03/1990 - 23/08/2001
The next dog to join our ever increasing family was "Travis". He was, hopefully, to be out next show puppy (from Cindy and Nuggets first litter).
"Travis" was very much a fun dog to show but unfortunately did not gain the success that was hoped. Again, there wasn't very much wrong with him, other than colour!!!! Which really and truly shouldn't have been a problem.
"Travis" did enjoy being shown bit he lacked the pizzaz and sparkle of his dad, and was quite often overlooked.
In his short show career, "Travis" was awarded Res. Challenge at the Cocker Club (Sth. Aust.) Championship Show in 1992 plus several Challenges along the way. But sadly not enough for the title of Australian Champion.
All this stuff aside, "Travis" was a real fun dog, always ever ready for a game, especially if it involved a tennis ball! And he always enjoyed the company of children. He was greatly in demand for the Child Handler classes at the local shows and it was not unusual for both of us to be confronted by a crowd of children all asking if they could have him forChild Handlers. Needless to say, he assisted many children to the end of year finals!
In 1995, I was contacted by a lovely lady who was looking for a companion for her aging Golden Retriever, who was grieving for a lost doggy mate of 10 years. She lived by the beach and took her dogs for a run there twice daily.
After telling her that I didn't have anything availabe, we had a family conference and decided to offer her "Travis" on a trial basis. The rest is history. "Travis" and "Bobby" got on like a house on fire and were constant companions until "Bobby" passed away at the grand old age of 15 years.
"Travis" contracted diabetes at the age of 11 and passed away due to complications.

Farewell "Travis" - the ultimate ball freak!
