Britney J. Spears was born in Kentwood, LA, on December 2, 1982. She has lived the small town life, and is (for the most part) considered a small town girl. Since 1999, when the teen began to experience success, she has been around the world singing hits from her two chart topping CD's, "...Baby One More Time," and "...Oops I did it again." She has continued this dinasty with the new CD, "Britney" released last year.
Since the middle of 1999 problems and questions concerning Britney's body, and her sex appeal have developed. The chaos started when Britney went in for a knee operation, and came out of the surgery (some say) with larger breasts. Many media personalities and fans stick with a breast augmentation story, while Britney claims that it really was knee surgury after she wrenched her knee at the "SOMETIMES" video shoot.
As with all rising stars who encounter conflict, and accuasations, this wasn't all that Britney had on her plate. Her second problem developed in late 1999 when she posed for the cover of "ROLING STONE MAGAZINE." Her pictures some said were, "...nearly pornographic."
Since these events critics are saying that her sucess isn't just credited to her singing abilities. Many feel that she has used her body (wearing little clothing, and encouraging sexual gestures) to increase album sales. Some of the media feel that these actions have increased album sales, further augmenting her success. Her performance at the MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS in 2000 showed to be another example of her sexual exposure. She wore a thong, and a see through outfit with a bra-like top. When asked her feelings on the "charges" against her Britney responded by saying, "What we as performers do is a show. It's kind of like when you are a little girl and you play dress-up. What we wear isn't who we are."
Although some feel that Ms. Spears is a disgrace to teen pop, and others such as Christina Aguilera can out-sing her anyday, she has proven to be one of the most successful woman acts in history. Her music is at an all-time high, and she is living the dream life.
