FIST OF LEGEND. Starring - Jet Lee - Billy Chow - Ada Choi. Directed by - Gordan Chan. Whilst studying in a Japanese school, our hero Chen Zhen (Jet Lee) discovers his master has met his maker whilst defending his schools martial arts prowess in a contest with the Japanese. Instinctively Chen Zhen knows something is amiss and in true Agatha Christie tradition heads back to China to uncover the truth. This has got to be Jet's finest film to date, and the fight scenes have to be seen to be believed. In the opening segment our hero dispatches half a dozen Japanese in a most delightful manner. The fight choreography is simply stunning and is so fast paced you will find yourself rewinding scene after scene just to see if Jet really is that fast, add this to the fantastic camerawork and you have some of the finest fight sequences ever filmed. I first started watching martial arts movies for the breath taking fight sequences, in recent years however the fight scenes have taken a backseat whilst the plotlines have taken presedence. In this title (basically a remake of Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury) the martial artistry has returned to the forefront and delivers one hell of a fight fest. I can whole heartedly recommend this film to all, it delivers all the key elements of a damn fine movie. Murder, intrigue, deception and most importantly some of the finest fight sequences you could ever witness. A classic film therfore 9*********stars. One not to miss. |
