To date, there are over 100 Teffts who have been working together to preserve and share our family history and genealogy. We believe that building an accurate record of our family's history and genealogy should be at the core of our efforts.
Who can join?
Descendants of John Tefft (Tift) of Rhode Island and John's brother, William Tefft of Massachusetts, who died without leaving a male heir, including all variant spellings of the Tefft name.
We also welcome others who wish to join us as associate members.
What are the benefits of membership?
Members receive a copy of the quarterly Tefft Family Association newsletter. The TFA Web site and www.topica.com/lists/Tefft/ (a discussion/mail list) serve as the core of our communication effort. Our fourth annual reunion in South Kingstown, R.I., is planned in October 2002.
Reunion 2000 in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, brought Tefft descendants from across the United States together to tour the historic Tefft Homestead. The Tefft Family Association formed in late 1999 to save the homestead (dating from the late 1600s) from impending development. Since then, we have held three reunions in South Kingstown, raised money to purchase the homestead, developed a long-term management plan for what is now the Tefft Historic Park, published a quarterly newsletter, and maintained a Web site presence to provide news and resources for genealogists and researchers. We welcome you to join us as we explore our past.
What are the annual dues?
Dues are $10 per year/per member. Contributions to cover mailing, copying and other support costs for the TFA would also be greatly appreciated. We have not yet filed for non-profit status.
