About Tekelli Evi

Tekelli Evi is in Uchisar, Cappadocia.  Uchisar is built on one of the few small hills in the Cappadocian plateau.  It is the highest hill around and thus has a big panaromic view of the plateau.  In fact a castle was carved out of the rock here because of  this.  Tekelli Evi faces west and is great for watching the sunset over the fantastic landscape (which we try not to miss).  The days are long and almost always sunny in the summer.  But the winter, she can be cold...

The inhabitants of Cappadocia, for thousands of years dwelt in caves.  They carved the soft volcanic land to make dwellings, churches, underground cities, castles, necropolis'  (grave cities).  Inside the caves the temperature remains pretty stable through the year.  They are soothing to be in, in the hot summer, and warmer than houses made of other material in the winter.  The cavemen knew what they were doing...

We furnished with comfort three of these caves to give guests to Cappadocia a  'different'  option for  a place to stay.  Each room is naturally different in size, shape and style.  Each room has it's own bathroom, with hot shower, and the cleanest comfiest beds covered with quilts to keep you warm. We like to make our guests feel at home, Tekelli Evi is a guesthouse not a hotel, it is your home should you decide to stay here.    We prefer to keep  a friendly informal atmosphere nobody wears white shirts buttoned up to the top here and  no false smiles...   By the way, 'Evi'  means 'the home of' in Turkish.

We cook home-made Turkish meals in our kitchen,  You can also taste from our local Cappadocian wine.  There is a long tradition of wine making in the valleys here, the Christian fathers brought with them the art when they moved here more than 1500 years ago!
