"Bullock in a china shop." - Harriet Bullock

Chantal tells Herlinde and James that she was in her father's office when Eliot arrived. Herlinde says that something must be done about Eliot's boozing and sleeping whilst on watch, but James tells her that Eliot is a good bloke. After Herlinde leaves, Chantal arranges to meet James and Piers later in the Dome.

In the common room, Herlinde asks Sara why they never knew that Eliot was such a ghastly man. Sara says that Finbow always covered up for him. Herlinde tells Sara that she needs her help for a little smear campaign.

Piers, Chantal and James arrive in the Dome. She tells them that Finbow has had it, and has no defence. James thinks that there must be a way to save Finbow without ruining Eliot.

Herlinde and Sara watch over Timmy as he hacks into the Captain's files.

In Comcen, Eliot is thinking back over his career and asks Petra for a resume of the Mars II expedition. Herlinde and Sara arrive, claiming they need Eliot's help on a space navigation project. As Sara talks to Eliot, Herlinde steals one of his Olga books. Harriet arrives, and the girls make a quick getaway. Harriet asks Eliot about the situation, tells him that the future of the college is at stake, and suggests that he and Finbow at least agree a common story. Eliot tells her that the ship was in grave danger when Finbow led the mutiny. They are both on the hook, and one of them has to stay there.

Alone in his cabin, Finbow lays on his bunk, ignoring James' attempts to get him out.

Timmy runs into the common room, warning Sara and Herlinde that Eliot is on his way. Each time Eliot uses the vending equipment, Petra responds with Chac's voice. Eliot returns to Comcen, but Petra is unable to delete all the copies of the voice file. Increasingly frustrated, he tries to find out who has used the computer in the lasts twentyfour hours.

Rosie, outside Finbow's cabin, cannot get to speak to him either. She tells him that life goes on, and that he doesn't realise the support that he has on the ship. She invites him to a get together in the club, but Finbow merely turns over in bed.

Back in Medicom, Rosie is joined by Piers, who tells her that Victoria will be discharged from hospital the next day, and is expected back on the Ilea. Piers asks if she will give Victoria her college place back, but Rosie tells him that he will have to speak to the new Principal. She feels that Harriet is always putting her in the wrong.

Timmy tells the girls that Eliot is trying to track down the copied files, but will be unable to trace them back as he used Brelan's account. An upset Anna tells Sara that she is resigning from the quiz team as Harriet has told her that she first needs to master the basics.

Harriet tells rosie that she wants to be friends. Rosie agrees to get Eliot to come for a drink that evening, and thinks that she knows someone who could persuade Finbow.

Herlinde and Sara request Petra to make a ship-wide announcement.

In Comcen, Eliot demonstrates the problems he is having with Petra to James and Piers. He blames Chantal and Finbow for turning people against him. Petra announces that the Classic Film Studies Group will be viewing 'The Caine Mutiny'. James and Piers try to hide their amusement.

James finds a wide-eyed Timmy reading Eliot's book. Sara and Herlinde enter the common room, and James asks them about the strange happenings on the ship. Herlinde tells him to keep out of it, as they want to help Finbow. James tells them that they have no idea about what Eliot is really like, and suggests that they do something useful if they really want to help.

Eliot tells Rosie that it would be rude not to accept Harriet's invitation. He supposses that all ships officers will be expected to attend, although Finbow is locked in his cabin after being sent back from the overcrowded Transit Hostel.

Herlinde tells Finbow to pull himself together. He says that he has never been any good with people. She asks him to go to the party for her sake.

In the club, Eliot is having second thoughts, and tells Rosie the party is a stupid idea. Harriet arrives and offers Eliot, and a newly arrived Finbow, a drink. The two officers are forced together while everyone else dances. Finbow stiffly apologises. Eliot says that he is sorry too.
