"Some say the airlock is the best place to be on Daniel's party." - Piers Gilpin

The Ilea continues to plough through the sulphur storms.

In the physics lab, Victoria and Jean-Francois argue as their readings on the storm intensity do not tally. She tells him that he doesn't care if they don't reach the Copernicus.

Petra informs Finbow that there are no alternative trajectories, they appear to be drifting out of control. Finbow, needing the readings on wind particle density, calls Victoria to Comcen. He is feeling very sick.

Daniel watches as Herlinde and Anna prepare the club for his twentyfirst birthday party.

In Medicom, Piers tells Finbow that he has been too long in space, and he needs to get back to the infirmary. As Piers prepares Medicom to make a diagnosis, Finbow leaves, saying he has to get back to Comcen.

Victoria overwrites Petra's files, to make the particle detector readings appear within safety limits.

Chantal and Herlinde discuss their situation in the, now safe, Dome.

Mercedes cannot believe Victoria's readings. She tells her and Jean-Francois that something is wrong, as their readings do not match up. The crew of the Copernicus are probably dead and they will be to if she accepts Victoria's figures. Victoria becomes angry and accuses them of wanting to turn back.

Mercedes bumps into Brelan on the lift. He invites her to Daniel's party with him. She tells him that she does not trust Victoria or her data. As Brelan leaves for Comcen, Mercedes runs into Alex, who asks if she is going to the party.

Finbow cannot believe Victoria's readings, but Brelan feels that they may have to take the risk. Piers arrives, and tells Brelan that the radiation is making Finbow ill, and that they should turn back immediately. Finbow says he is alright.

Anna stops Daniel in the lobby, and tells him there will be a big surprise at his party. She chatters incessantly as they enter the common room, and he joins Herlinde and asks for a birthday kiss.

Alex asks Mercedes if she is avoiding him. He pesters her, but leaves when Brelan joins them. Brelan tells Mercedes that Finbow shares her suspicions, and that Victoria must love her father very much to risk all of their lives in this way. She tells him to find out the truth. He contacts Victoria and tells her that they need to talk.

In the lab, Brelan tells Victoria that Finbow is sick and might die if they go on, but Victoria thinks that her father's life is more important to her. She breaks down, and says that she didn't want to hurt anyone. He tells her not to do it again.

Finbow enters Medicom and Chantal tells him that he should go into the 'storm cellar' for maximum radiation shielding, but Finbow does not like the idea of being sealed in the airlock for the rest of the trip.

Brelan is impressed with Jean-Francois' findings on the storm, but wonders why he was not more assertive with them. Jean-Francois says that he did not want to upset Victoria.

On the bridge, Cats invites Mercedes to Daniels party. She tells him that she is going by herself. Cats continues to pilot the Ilea through the storms.

Herlinde and Piers settle Finbow in the airlock, as Petra calls Daniel to Club Galileo for his birthday surprise.

In the club, Daniel is greeted by Herlinde and Anna who sing their birthday song. Alex asks Mercedes for a dance, but she turns him down. He invites Herlinde, and tells her that Brelan is too old for Mercedes, and she is doing this to wind him up. Herlinde tells him that he is really bitter, and kisses him, to Mercedes' surpise. Brelan leaves for the bridge, and Mercedes warns Herlinde that she must be careful of Alex.

At the entryport, Victoria tells Finbow that she feels guilty about what has happened. She tells him that Anna will visit him tomorrow. He says that he needs to rest.

In Comcen, Mercedes joins Brelan as the ship finally reaches Amalthea. The storm clears, and they kiss. He tells her that he is glad she is here. On the screen the Copernicus comes into view. They have direct visual contact. The Professor is overwhelmed.
