The Island and Beyond
by Lasha Laura
Chapter 19
''YOU'RE LYING!!!!'' screamed Stefan. This was his worst nightmare
come to life.
''Stefan, what reason do I have to lie to you?! It serves no
purpose to me whether Spencer is alive or dead.''
''Then why are you telling me?? WHY!!'' Stefan was losing control,
this had to be a lie, it had to be!
''Old friend, well, if you must know, I became acquainted with the
information through your cousin, she is a very resourceful woman, as she is breathtaking.''
''You stay away from Alexis, you son of a ...''
''Stefan, there is no need for such talk among friends.'' Smiled Faison.
''You stay away from me and my family. Stop feeding me such lies!''
''Believe what you want, friend. In your soul, you know what is
real and what is fiction.''
With that, Faison turned on his heel and left. For the first time
in his life, Stefan didn't know what to believe. He
stood there in a state of shock. He had to find out the truth, but
the truth could destroy his life. Stefan looked
down to see a scarf left behind by Laura. He picked it up and
inhaled its scent, her scent.
''I can't give her up!'' Stefan whispered to himself. He couldn't,
not when he had just found her. Not when he
knew what it was like to have her in his arms, he could not live
another day without her.
Stefan tucked the scarf into his jacket pocket and finished getting
dressed. He then raced toward the main house,
trying to figure out what to do. While Stefan was in a state of
turmoil, Laura was in her room.
She had managed to make to the house and her room without being
seen. After all the events that had happened
in the last 24 hours she had come to some conclusions. First, both
her and Stefan's lives had been endangered
due to their impetuous actions. Although Laura was fully aware of
the danger it had somehow allowed her to fully
comprehend the truth she had been hiding from herself.
SHE WAS IN LOVE WITH STEFAN CASSADINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even though she had wanted to deny it, she knew it was irrefutable,
then she knew what she had to do; she had to
leave the island. She couldn't stay here anymore, if not for her
own sake then for Stefan's life. The fact that she
had to leave him broke her heart, the very same heart she had
believe didn't exist anymore. She thought it was
long buried with Luke more than a year ago. Stefan would eventually
forget her, he had to and she had to do the same.
With that Laura walked to her jewelry box and retrieved the disk
she had hidden. She secretly left the room and casually walked to Stavros' room. She then preceded to send the
message she had previously written to Robert Scorpio. She needed his help and she needed it now!
While Laura and Stefan were both dealing separately with their
dilemmas, back in the town of Port Charles, someone was on the phone:
''I need to charter a boat''
''Of course sir, your destination?''
''Greece''
''And your name sir?''
''Luke Spencer!''
Chapter 20
(Somewhere in Australia)
"Where in bloody hell is that beeping coming from?" whispered a man
with a thick Australian accent. None other than Robert Scorpio was in
the middle of listening in on a DVX agent's phone call when he first
heard the annoying sound.
"Figures!"
He pressed the record button on the recorder and moved to his labtop to
stop the beeping. He looked at the screen to see the words, "You have
mail!" flashing on the screen. Robert clicked the icon and was
confronted with Laura's e-mail. By the time Robert read the last word
of the message he was out of the chair. He HAD to get to Laura, he owed
it to Luke to save her. Luke, his best friend. Their relationship had
meant so much to him but now he was gone.
"For you Luke!" Robert looked up to Heaven.
Just as he was about to turn off the computer and start making the
necessary preparations, he noticed the P.S. of the message. Stefan
Cassadine? He vaguely remembered the name was somehow connected to
Faison but beyond that he knew nothing. Why would Laura want
information about him? The wheels in Robert's mind turned as to what
she could mean, but dismissed it till he could ask her in person. He
knew it was important to her though! Robert left to track down the
island's exact location.
(Meanwhile, aboard a chartered boat!)
After Luke had chartered the boat he set sail immediately. He wanted
to get there as soon as possible. She was waiting for him, he could
feel it with his soul.
"I'm coming Laura!"
(Back on the island)
It was mid morning before Laura had decided to venture outside her room
again! She had spent hours agonizing over what to do? How was she
going to face him? What about Helena, what if she or Stavros found
out?!
She had all her necessities packed for her escape, she put the bag in
her closet and left the room. Walking down the steps she could hear
someone on the phone in the study. It was Alexis!
"So, what have you found on Laura?
Laura started to tremble, Alexis was checking on her.
"Well, there must be something she has on Stefan that is making him act
so strangely. Maybe its something on the family, she was married to
Luke Spencer I mean, she must have something on us. Find out what it
is, or I will!"
Alexis hung up the phone and started for the door. Laura hid out of
sight till she was gone.
"Robert where are you?" Laura said to herself.
She walked from the door outside to the cliffs. She had to think
things through and maybe get some air in her lungs, this place was
stifling.
Stefan was headed for the same destination and reached it at the same
time. Standing on opposite sides on the bench they just stood there,
partly not sure what to say. Laura was at a loss for words as was
Stefan.
"You can't leave Laura."
She sat down not even bothering to ask how he knew she was.
"I have to, for both of us. After everything its not safe for me, if
they should find out…"
Stefan sat next to her.
"The only way you are getting off this island is in my arms Laura."
She looked up at him and was engulfed by his hypnotic grey eyes.
"You know," said Stefan, his eyes never leaving hers, "even after last
night, I still can't be this close to you. It is taking every ounce of
my discipline not to take you in my arms and make love to you right here
and now. I can't let you go."
With that, Stefan leaned in and brushed his lips against hers. Laura
couldn't even offer protest, she was too far gone. Even with the danger
this presented, it being such an open space, she couldn't fight it.
But for the second time in a row, their embrace was about to be
witnessed. (TAN: Boy, you can't get any privacy on this island! LOL!)
But this time it would be Alexis!
Chapter 21
Alexis needed some air and she needed it now!
"Why did I ever come back to this island, I should have known all it
would give me was an anxiety attack." Alexis said low in her throat.
She was walking by the cliffs, the same cliffs where Stefan and Laura
were sharing a passionate kiss. But Alexis didn't know that. She was
rounding the bend when she heard a muffled moan. Now being a Cassadine,
the thought of someone being injured on the island came as no surprise.
Stavros and Helena had always used violence to get what they wanted.
Figuring the worst, Alexis quickened her pace and was faced with a sight
she had never been prepared to see. Stefan and Laura kissing
passionately!
Alexis was speechless to say the least. Her first instinct was to
interrupt immediately. She KNEW that Laura had gotten her hooks into
him somehow but this was the last thing she had expected to come upon.
As Alexis looked on, we turn to Stefan and Laura, unaware that they are
being seen. (Note from writer: You would think after Stefan found out
that Faison had seen Laura and him at the cottage he would learn to keep
things like this in a private setting but I guess he hasn't learned his
lesson yet.)
Things were starting to get hot and heavy between them. Stefan broke
off,
"Now can you say this is a mistake, Laura. What we feel at this
moment, no, since the moment we met at this exact spot. The thought of
never holding you in my arms again would be like draining all the life
from my body. Marry me!"
Alexis, who was still watching and listening to the dialogue did what
anyone would do who witnessed such a display. She fainted! And as luck
would have right into the waiting arms of none other that… Robert
Scorpio. Robert had arrived on the island and was looking for Laura
after he had searched all the rooms of the main house. Needless to say,
hadn't expected this. He carried Alexis to a nearby rock so she could
rest her head on it.
"Lady, you okay?"
Alexis was waking slowly.
"Who... Get your hands off me. I have to stop Laura from.. I mean
Stefan from... "
"Slow down lady. Why don't you tell me who you are first." Robert
said.
"As if its any of your concern, Alexis Davis."
"A Cassadine?"
"A distant cousin."
"You have too much spunk to be a true Cassadine." Smiled Robert.
Alexis smiled back for some reason.
"Now, where can I find Laura?"
"Being proposed to by Stefan over there!" said Alexis harshly as she
tried in vain to stand up. She lost the battle. Robert was too much in
shock to help her. Laura and a Cassadine??????? Boy he hadn't come a
moment too soon! He had to get her away from here tonight.
As for Stefan and Laura, they knew nothing of Alexis and Robert
being close by.
