There was another actor who portrayed The Lone Ranger in the 1950's.
His name is John Hart and he was The Lone Ranger in 52 episodes of the series when Clayton Moore was "fired" for apparently asking for more money.
When Clayton returned to the role of The Lone Ranger, John went on to other programs including roles in "Sky King", "Rawhide", "Sgt. Preston" and even in the night-time drama "Dallas".
John also had the starring role in the 1950's show "Last of the Mohicans".
Audiences in the 1970's could have seen John in the role of The Lone Ranger in the show "Greatest American Hero".
Believe it or not, one of John's roles in the 1980's was in the movie "Legend of The Lone Ranger" starring Klinton Spilsbury as the masked man. John played the part of newspaper publisher Lucas Striker whose daughter, Amy, was beginning to fall in love with John Reid, prior to Reid's becoming The Lone Ranger! It's kind of an "inside-joke" that the publishers last name was Striker, since Fran Striker was the original writer of The Lone Ranger programs starting in radio back in the 1930's!
