Celebs name their favorite episode and tell their opinion about "Seinfeld"

JAY LENO-"Tonight Show" host- "I guess "The Soup Nazi" is funny to me. The key I think to Jerry's success is that he lets everybody else shine on the show."

RAY ROMANO-star of "Everybody Loves Raymond"-"I identify with the shrinkage episode ("The Hamptons") a lot. But I think my favorite moment of the show was when George and Jerry were sitting there with nothing to say to each other and Jerry goes "I'm thinking of getting a yo-yo.""

ANN LANDERS-syndicated advice columnist-"I laughed my head off during the circumcision show ("The Bris") because the Mohel made it so funny.

PHYLLIS DILLER-comedian-"The episode that sent me into paroxysms of laughter was the one where Kramer came in and put his clothing in the oven ("The Calzone"). Seinfeld wanted to know why, and Kramer said he liked to put on warm clothing.

JOHN PETERMAN-founder of the J. Peterman catalogue whose Seinfeldian knockoff is played by actor John O'Hurley-"Peterman was wearing the trademark duster and met Elaine, who was walking and crying in the rain. That was my favorite."

JERRY STILLER-who plays George's father Frank Costanza-"That scene where Frank is being measured for a male brassiere ("The Doorman") by Kramer, and his wife walks in. That was the moment that really splits my mind."

RUTH GREENSPAN-mother of Jason Alexander-"Remember the one in which George is pretending to be a marine biologist and Kramer was hitting golf balls and one got stuck in a whale? That was one of the best.("The Marine Biologist")."

EILEEN DAVIDSON-star of "Days of our Lives"-"Jon and I both loved the one where Jerry's car had the really bad B.O. ("The Smelly Car"). We just saw it on syndication and we were both dying of laughter!"

LIZ CARPENTER-former press secretary to Lady Bird Johnson-"The "spongeworthy" episode ("The Sponge")-in which Elaine ponders if a potential suiter is worth using up her supply of contraceptive sponges-it was quite educational. I didn't even know about them before."

DAVE BERRY-humorist-"My favorite character has always been George. He's such a little rodent. He's the only character I can imagine where an entire show was based around the fact that he urinated in the shower."

TERRY KELLEHER-People's TV reviewer-"The whole Zapruder film takeoff involving the spitting incident and Keith Hernandez. ("The Boyfriend of Mastodons and Men")

ROGER McDOWELL-ex New York Mets reliever who had a cameo as the second spitter who zings Kramer and Newman-"My favorite is "The Contest" where Kramer walks in, slaps down his $100 and says, "I'm out" that just kills me!"

TOM SHALES-Washington Post critic-"At the time I thought the show where Jerry and George sold their show to NBC was kind of self-aggrandizing ("The Pitch"), but seeing it in reruns I think it's hilariously funny. I loved seeing them bite the hand that feeds them."

CASPER VAN DIEN-star of "Starship Troopers"-"My favorite episode is when Jerry is dating that girl whose name he can't remember but he knows it rhymes with a feminine sexual organ."

AMY PIETZ-star of "Caroline in the City"-"I loved "The Soup Nazi". Speaking as a former employee of the service industry, I remember how intimidated I would get by servers, and I could really relate."

PAULA ABDUL-singer-"I love the one where Jerry drops his girlfriend's toothbrush in the toilet, doesn't tell her and then doesn't want to kiss her."

JERI RYAN-star of "Star Trek Voyager's Seven of Nine"-"My favorite episode is the one where Kramer gets banned buying fruit. Watching the show gave me a chance to spend an hour every Thursday with my husband. I'd spend the first half hour watching the show, and the second explaining why it was funny."

REGIS PHILBMAN-host of "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee"-"I can't sleep at night if I don't watch "Seinfeld". If I see a few minutes it gives me some solice but it still isn't the same."

SHAWN COLVIN-"I am so sitcom ignorant. The only reason I've ever seen any Seinfeld is that a friend of mine got addicted to it. My favorite episode is the one where Jerry had to go to upstate NY to do some gigs, and he got stuck with that horrible agent. I kind of related to that."

KRISTEN JOHNSTON-star of "Third Rock From the Sun"-"I like them all especially the one where Julia Louis-Dreyfus had a little too much to drink in India. She is unbelievable. I'll watch her do anything."

YASMINE BLEETH-"I love the one where they're trying to discover if Jerry's girlfriend's breats are real. Teri Hatcher's in it. It's so classic. People are always trying to find out if mine are.

CHRIS ELLIOT-"I'll tell you a Jerry Seinfeld story that's memorable. When my show "Get a Life" first aired on FOX and Seinfeld first aired, it was around the same time. Surprisingly, "Get a Life" was slightly better. Jerry and I were sitting next to each other on a flight, and he seemed slightly depressed that his show wasn't doing great. I can actually remember saying "Ah come on. I think it's funny. I'm sure people will catch on." In about six months I was off the air-and he was through the roof."
