In My Blue Backyard
From the album "The Little Mermaid: Splash Hits"
By: Will Robinson
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel]

On Saturday mornings
I'm up at the break of the waves
Right through my window
A big world of water awaits

To have the sea at your fintips
Is such a special treat
I take a few steps out the back of my house
For all the fun I need

In my blue backyard
It's open and wide, and blue as the sky
In my blue backyard
There's no garden to hoe, no seaweed to mow
Just fine finned friends who love to play
Dolphins to ride, bubbles to chase
Deep in the heart of my blue backyard

Whenever I'm swimming
I know that I won't see a fence
Out here there's no boundaries
Except for the continents

The seals and eels and humpbacks
The squid and pompano
Are some of my pals who'll be hanging around
So I won't be alone

In my blue backyard
It's open and wide, and blue as the sky
In my blue backyard
There's no garden to hoe, no seaweed to mow
Just fine finned friends who love to play
Dolphins to ride, bubbles to chase
Deep in the heart of my blue backyard

Sometimes I hide in the coral beds
That's where I go to think
I don't have to be inside
Till the sun starts to sink

In my blue backyard
In my blue backyard
In my blue backyard

At the Mermaids' Ball
From "The Little Mermaid: Songs from the Sea"
Written by: Andy DiTaranto and Samuel J. Wisner
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel]

(I suppose I ought to be getting ready for the Ball. I wonder if humans have
anything like the Mermaids' Ball.)

At the ball, I'll dance like never before
Spinning up and down and round on the floor
When the music plays its so entrancing
At the Mermaids' Ball
When I go dancing

It's a lovely night
The sea breezes blow
Dancing by the light of starfish aglow
Dreaming I'm in love
It's so enchanting
At the Mermaids' Ball
When I go dancing

Pretty mermaids wearing sea flowers
Of green and pink and blue
Whirling round and round in circles
With their partners, two by two
As the grand orchestra plays
Romantic songs of yesterday
We will dance the night away

Dreaming I'm in love
It's so entrancing
At the Mermaids' Ball
When I go dancing
At the Mermaids' Ball
When I go dancing
  Dancing
Dancing
  Dancing
Dancing
  Dancing
Ooooooooh

Beddie-Bye Blues
From the TV series "The Little Mermaid" ("Double Bubble")
By: Randy Petersen and Kevin Quinn
Performed by: Joe Alaskey [Lobster Mobster], David Lander [Da Shrimp]

Muzzle up your mugs
Or I'll fill 'em full of slugs
That's an offer that you can't refuse
Forget your troubles and dream
Up a bubble-brain scheme
Shut your snappers and snooze
To the beddie-bye blues

Snuff our your cigars
And thank your lucky stars
You ain't swimmin' in some cement shoes
Think of something that's nice
Like a holdup or a heist
Then take your getaway cruise
With the beddie-bye blues

Slip in to slumber
Saw a little lumber and snore
Let 'em hear you on shore
Just count a couple kippers
Relax your weary flippers
And don't forget to zip
Your little lips with zippers

And don't go cryin' for your muddah
'Cause now we've only got each uddah
So sleep, little chowderheads, please
Shut your snappers and snooze
To the beddie-bye blues

Daughters of Triton
From "The Little Mermaid"
Music: Alan Menken
Lyrics: Howard Ashman
Performed by: [Ariel's sisters]

Ah, we are the daughters of Triton
Great father who loves us and named us well
Aquata, Andrina, Arista, Atina, Adella, Allana
And then there is the youngest in her musical debut
Our seventh little sister, we're presenting her to you
To sing a song Sebastian wrote, her voice is like a bell
She's our sister, Ari

Please Don't Wake the Whale
From the album "The Little Mermaid: Splash Hits"
By: Dennis Scott
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel], et al.

Shh, please don't wake the whale
Shh, please don't wake the whale
Don't jiggle his fins, don't tickle his tail
Shh! Don't wake the whale

I told him a story and kissed him good night
I gave him a drink, then I turned out the light
The water is calm and the day is complete
Oh, don't make a sound 'cause he's almost asleep

Shh, please don't wake the whale
Shh, please don't wake the whale
Don't jiggle his fins, don't tickle his tail
Shh! Don't wake the whale

His spout has stopped spouting
His big eye is closed
His fins are fatigued and he's starting to doze
All creatures who sleep on the deep-ocean floor
All snooze in the sea
Hear how sweetly they snore

Shh, please don't wake the whale
Shh, please don't wake the whale
Don't jiggle his fins, don't tickle his tail
Shh! Don't wake the whale

Shh, don't wake the whale
Shh, don't wake the whale
Don't jiggle his fins, don't tickle his tail
Shh! Don't wake the whale
Shh! Don't wake the whale

Dreaming
From "The Little Mermaid: Songs from the Sea"
Written by: Harriet Schock
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel]

( Dear Friend: I got your note today, asking me what it's like to be a
mermaid. Well - I've given it a lot of thought. )

There are ways we're not the same
When it comes to running games and races
Nobody calls my name
And you don't swim as fast as I can
There's really just no use in trying, no
You'll only feel slow

I hear the music play
That's when I come up to watch you dancin'
How do you move that way?
And I know your schools aren't like my schools
You have recess, we have tide pools, yet
I'm willing to bet

That dreamin'
Is somethin' that we both know how to do
You wish upon that evening star
And hope that it comes true
Dreams connect us even when we're far apart
'Cause dreams
Come from inside your heart

I found a golden ring
And I don't know what its purpose is
This curious, shiny thing
And when you wish what do you long for?
What's right for you might still be wrong for me
But we might agree

That dreamin'
Is somethin' that we both know how to do
You wish upon that evening star
And hope that it comes true
Dreams connect us even when we're far apart
'Cause dreams
Come from inside your heart

I know I'm not really part of your world
But deep in my heart I'm like ev'ry other girl

And dreamin'
Is somethin' that we both know how to do
You wish upon that evening star
And hope that it comes true
Dreams connect us even when we're far apart
'Cause dreams
Come from inside your heart

Where Mermaids Dwell
From "The Little Mermaid: Songs from the Sea"
Written by: Robin Frederick
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel], et al.

([Ariel:] Well, dear friend - it's time to put this letter into a bottle
and hope the ocean current carries it back to you. Maybe soon you'll
come to visit me - even if it's only in your dreams. Just follow the
mermaids' song, and you'll find me. Till then, your friend, Ariel.)

[Chorus:] Come to the place where mermaids dwell
Follow the call of trumpet shells
We'll fill your sails with friendly winds
And point the way with shining fins
And you can bid your cares farewell (farewell)

Come to the place where mermaids dwell
(Come to the place where mermaids dwell)
In dreams you know the way so well
For if you hope and you believe
You'll see the golden nets we weave
You'll hear the stories that we tell
Where mermaids dwell
(Where mermaids dwell)
Where mermaids dwell
(Where mermaids dwell)

There are dolphins to ride for pleasure
And starfish that twinkle all night long
Strings of pearls and sunken treasure
And a mermaid song

Come to the place where mermaids dwell
Where shimmering ocean waters swell
Where laughing children of the waves
Play hide and seek among the caves
And ride a seahorse carousel

Come to the place where mermaids dwell
(Come to the place where mermaids dwell)
In dreams you know the way so well
For if you hope and you believe
You'll see the golden nets we weave
You'll feel the magic in our spell
Where mermaids dwell
  Where mermaids dwell
Where mermaids dwell
  Where mermaids dwell
Where mermaids dwell
  Where mermaids dwell
Where mermaids dwell
  Where mermaids dwell
Where mermaids dwell
  Where mermaids dwell
Where mermaids dwell
  Where mermaids dwell

The Edge of the Edge of the Sea
From the TV series "The Little Mermaid" ("Stormy")
By: Michael Silversher and Patty Silversher
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel]

He never hears me
Although he has ears
He refuses to understand
He nearly sees me
He doesn't believe
He can let me be who I am

What am I to do?
There's so much of me in you
He may tie the ropes
But he can't hold our hopes

That someday
We'll break away
And we'll ride, you and me
To the edge of the edge of the sea
To be free from his undertow
But how, I don't know

Stormy, be quiet
Come on, let's try it
So many worlds to explore
I don't have a plan
You'll just have to trust my hand
He may be wise
But I still can surprise him

Someday
We'll break away
And we'll ride, you and me
To the edge of the edge of the sea
To be free from his undertow
I can't wait to go
Let's go!

Fathoms Below

Music: Alan Menken
Lyrics: Howard Ashman
Performed by: [Sailors]

I'll tell you a tale of the bottomless blue
And it's hey to the starboard, heave ho
Look out, lad, a mermaid be waiting for you
In mysterious fathoms below

Fathoms below, below
From whence wayward Westerlies blow
Where Triton is king and his merpeople sing
In mysterious fathoms below

Heave ho
Heave ho

Heave ho
Heave ho
Heave ho
In mysterious fathoms below

He's a Friend
From "The Little Mermaid: Songs from the Sea"
Written by: Carl Graves and John Finley
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel], Samuel E. Wright [Sebastian]

([Ariel:] I don't really mean to be different. There's just so much I wanna
know. I wonder if the little girl who wrote to me feels the same way?
[Sebastian:] Ariel - why the long face? You been thinking about humans
again, haven't you? Cheer up, girl! Listen to your old friend Sebastian.
At the Ball tonight when the music starts to play, you'll forget all your
troubles.
[Ariel:] Aaahhh, I'll try, Sebastian.
[Sebastian:] You do that!)

(He´s a friend)

[Ariel:] How can this little fellow be so wise
Living under the sea?
How can he know about the great big world
And make it so plain to me?

I must admit he's a funny sight
But he's the one who makes everything right

He's a friend
Someone to love and trust
Till the end
([Sebastian:] Oh, girl, I'll always be there for you!)
(He´s a friend)
[Ariel:] He's a friend
What an upper crustacean

(He´s a friend)

([Sebastian:] Ha! I like that. But - if your father knew you was dreaming
about the surface again - you know who'd be in trouble? (He´s a friend) Me! That's who.)

[Ariel:] When I'm sinking in a sea of doubt
About to throw it all away
Here he comes and pulls me out
He always knows just what to say
I must admit his point of view
Is kind of hard but he always comes through

He's a friend
Someone to love and trust
Till the end
([Sebastian:] Oh, that's me girl!)
(He´s a friend)
[Ariel:] He's a friend
What an upper crustacean
(He´s a friend)

([Sebastian:] Listen. Ariel. Your father gets mad at you 'cause he loves
you so much. He's afraid you're gonna get hurt out there in that big ocean.
(He´s a friend)(He´s a friend)
You see - (He´s a friend)
the human world - (He´s a friend)
it's a mess. (He´s a friend)
I know - (He´s a friend)
I travel all (He´s a friend)
over the place!)

[Ariel:] He's been around for a long, long time
And traveled so far away
So, now he knows just how to live each day

He's a friend
Someone to love and trust
Till the end
([Sebastian:] You got that right!)
(He´s a friend)
[Ariel:] He's a friend
What an upper crustacean
(He´s a friend)
He's a friend
([Sebastian:] "Upper crustacean" - I like that. Oh! Come on, now, Ariel (He´s a friend),
it's time for the Mermaids´ (Friend) Ball! Oh, you gonna have the best time you ever had in
your whole life, girl! (He´s a friend) No - lemme see your smile (Friend) lighten up that pretty
face of yours. That's it! Oh, you're gonna be the prettiest mermaid there!)

You Got to be You
From the TV series "The Little Mermaid" ("Whale of a Tale")
Music: Tom Snow
Lyrics: Jack Feldman
Performed by: Samuel E. Wright [Sebastian], et al.

When I was but a schoolboy
I dreamed I would grow tall
And man, it made me crabby
That a crab should be so small

When this I tell my teacher
She said, "Why, don't you see
That each and every creature
Is exactly how they should be?"

She said, "We all are special
From jellyfish to king
We all do different thing"
And with that she'd start to sing

You got to be you
I got to be me
It's simple, but true
What else could you do?
Who else could you be?
You got your own style
Now let it come through
And remember, no matter what
You've got to be you

Skate fish got to skate
Stingray got to sting
Catfish got to purr
And Sebastian got to sing
Sea horse got to ride
Flounder got to play
And whale he got to make de trouble
All the livelong day

So why should you be gloomy
That you're too big or small?
The sea is very roomy
And there's plenty room for us all

You heard my little story
Now let it be your guide
Just treat yourself with pride
You'll be more than satisfied

You got to be you
I got to be me
I'll try to be clearer, look in the mirror
What do you see?
You see what I mean
Now let us review

Let's see now
Some may be tiny, some got the claws
Gills may be shiny, shark got the jaws
Down in the briney, those are the laws
And that is why we sing - ah!

You got to be you
I got to be me
It's simple, but true
What else could you do?
Who else could you be?
You got your own style
Now let it come through
You got your own voice
You got to rejoice
You got to be you
Now don't be so blue

Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel]

(Oh, I wish you could come for a swim with me. Then you'd know what it

Swim away with me
I'd love to be suspended
In the crystal blue
With a friend like you
Let's go
The water's clear
The atmosphere is perfect
For a flight below in the H2O

H2O
What a feeling to be flying
Through the H2O
There is really no denying
It's a full-fin, tailspin
Whale of a show
One, two, three
And away we go
Through the H2O
What a wonderful sensation
In the H2O
There's a ton of recreation
Every which way
Hooray!
Go with the flow
Fly with me in the H2O

Swim away with me
A symphony awaits
The movement of our fins
Then the fun begins
Let's go

Harmonie
From _De Kleine Zeemeermin_

Wat maakt iemand anders,
Dat is voor ieder ongelijk,
't gaat om dat persoonlijke,
Dat maakt ons samen rijk.

Anders zijn is ons verschil,
Zij 't groot of klein,
't geeft juist kleur aan ons bestaan,
't geeft meer zonneschijn.

In harmonie, harmonie!

Kom wees jezelf en leef met ons
Tezaam in harmonie.

Bestond er maar oon enkele noot,
Dan werd dit lied oon drein,
Maar ik ben juist zo goed gehumeurd,
Omdat er veel meer noten zijn.

Elke stem klinkt anders,
Maar elk geluid telt mee,
Want als we samen zingen,
Schenkt dat klanken aan de zee.

In harmonie, harmonie!

Kom wees jezelf en leef met ons,
Tezaam in harmonie.

In harmonie, harmonie!

Kom wees jezelf en leef met ons,
Tezaam in harmonie.

In harmonie, harmonie!

Kom wees jezelf en leef met ons,
Tezaam in harmonie.

In Harmony
From the TV series "The Little Mermaid" ("The Evil Manta")
By: Michael Silversher and Patty Silversher
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel]

What makes someone special?
I suppose it all depends
It's what's unique in each of us
That we all share as friends

The difference is our differences
Maybe small or great
Variety adds spice to life
So we should celebrate

In harmony
Harmony
You're you, I'm me
Together we can live in harmony

If there was only one note
How boring life would be
I'm glad there are so many notes
In many different keys

I hear each voice singing
With a special quality
And when we sing together
We bring music to the sea

In harmony
Harmony
You're you, I'm me
Together we can live in harmony

You're you
I'm me
Together we can live in harmony

Home Is
From the album "The Little Mermaid: Splash Hits"
By: Dennis Scott and Paul Parnes
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel]

Home is
A place of warmth and wonder
Home is
The sea and all that's
Underneath the waves
We splash and play
Where angelfish roam
And sometime being

Home is
A funny Flounder swimming
Home is
A group of guppies grinning
Floating by
Below the tide
You're never alone

When you look around and see a friendly fin
It's home
Wishin' on a starfish in the sand
Or being in a private place
That's all your own
Home's an underwater wonderland
You're always welcome

Home is
A feeling deep inside you
Home is
Your heart will always guide you
There again, to all your friends
Anywhere you roam

For home is love
And love is always home
Love is always home

The Sea Kingdom
From "The Little Mermaid: Songs from the Sea"
Written by: Richard T. Dempsey and Joel Jacks
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel], Ken Mars [Triton], et al.

([Triton:] Ariel? Ariel! You've been to the surface again, haven't you?!)

[Ariel:] Please listen, Father
Take note, I'm very well
I meant to cause no trouble
([Triton:] Now, look here, Ariel!)

[Ariel:] The sun is shining over the ocean waves
It warms the land above us
The children laugh and play

I have dreams
Of life above

([Triton:] What of the danger?
You could have fallen prey
The human world is savage
Now look, you must obey!)

[Sisters:] Excuse us, Father
However hard you try
She'll look beyond the ocean
We'll never know just why

She has dreams
Of life
Life above the sea kingdom
How could you ask for any more
Than what we have?
Life within the sea kingdom
You can swim the seven seas
In happiness and peace
Oh, life within the sea kingdom

[Ariel:] [Sisters:]
I can't contain my secret thoughts A day of swimming
                                      A day of having fun
Of life above the deep blue sea She'd rather be on dry land
                                      Out playing in the sun
High above the ocean waves We bow to father
                                      He rules with majesty
There is a life that calls me The merfolk here are happy
                                      We all enjoy the sea

I have dreams She has dreams
Of life Of life
[Chorus:] Life above the sea kingdom
([Triton:] How could you ask for any more
Than what we have?)
[Chorus:] Life within the sea kingdom
You can swim the seven seas
In happiness and peace
Oh, life within the (life within the, life within the) sea kingdom

Kiss the Girl
From "The Little Mermaid"
Music: Alan Menken
Lyrics: Howard Ashman
Performed by: Samuel E. Wright [Sebastian], et al.

There you see her
Sitting there across the way
She don't got a lot to say
But there's something about her
And you don't know why
But you're dying to try
You wanna kiss the girl

Yes, you want her
Look at her, you know you do
Possible she wants you too
There is one way to ask her
It don't take a word
Not a single word
Go on and kiss the girl

Sha la la la la la
My oh my
Look like the boy too shy
Ain't gonna kiss the girl
Sha la la la la la
Ain't that sad?
Ain't it a shame?
Too bad, he gonna miss the girl

Now's your moment
Floating in a blue lagoon
Boy you better do it soon
No time will be better
She don't say a word
And she won't say a word
Until you kiss the girl

Sha la la la la la
Don't be scared
You got the mood prepared
Go on and kiss the girl
Sha la la la la la
Don't stop now
Don't try to hide it how
You want to kiss the girl
Sha la la la la la
Float along
And listen to the song
The song say kiss the girl
Sha la la la la
The music play
Do what the music say
You got to kiss the girl
You've got to kiss the girl
You wanna kiss the girl
You've gotta kiss the girl
Go on and kiss the girl

Kuess´ sie doch

Aus "Arielle, die Meerjungfrau"
Spieler: Joachim Kemmer [Sebastian]

[Sebastian:] Sieh sie Dir an!
Ist sie nicht bezaubernd schoen?
Wie ein Bild das schweigt,
Doch zeigt Dir ihr Gesicht nicht alles?
Du weisst nicht wie,
Siehst Du sie vis-à-vis,
Heisst das nicht:
"Kuess´ sie doch!" ?

Klar willst Du sie!
Schau sie an, sie ist Dir nah!
Frag´ ihr Herz, es sagt bald: Ja!,
Trau Dich endlich und frag´ sie!
Ganz ohn´ ein Wort
Geht es sofort.
Los, mach und
Kuess´ sie doch!

(Und jetzt im Chor!)
Schalalalalala, nein, oh nein!
So klappt das nie, oh nein!
Glaubt ihr, er kuesst sie noch?
Schalalalalala, echt zu dumm!
So kriegt sie ihn nie ´rum!
Er muss, das wisst ihr doch!

[Sebastian:] Das ist die Chance!
[Chor:] Jajaja!
[Sebastian:] Gondelnd auf dem blauen See.
[Chor:] Jajaja!
Find´ schon endlich Deinen Dreh,
Die Chance ist nie besser!
[Chor:] Ja! Ja! Ja! Ja! Ja! Ja!
[Sebastian:] Sie bleibt immer stumm!
Ohne Kuss voellig stumm!
Drum: Kuess´ sie doch!

Schalalalalala, sei ein Mann!
Die Stimmung stimmt, fang an!
Los, ´ran und
Kuess´ sie doch!
Schalalalalala, hoer´ nicht auf!
Zeig´s ruhig, da stehst Du d´rauf!
Was ist denn?
Kuess´ sie doch!
Schalalalalala, hoer´ das Lied!
Es sagt, was bald geschieht.

Just a Little Love
From the TV series "The Little Mermaid" ("Whale of a Tale")
Music: Tom Snow
Lyrics: Jack Feldman
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel], Edan Gross [Flounder]

( [Ariel:] There, you're safe. Nobody's gonna hurt you. )

Poor little frightened baby
([Flounder:] "Baby"?)
[Ariel:] Wandering on your own
You've been through a lot
Haven't you, Spot?

( Poor Spot - where's your mother? Where's your family?
Don't cry, Spot - I'll take care of you. )

Everyone needs a family
No one should be alone
Now Flounder and me
We're gonna be
Tha family you've never known

( Flounder, we have to take him home with us.
[Flounder:] We have to WHAT?
[Ariel:] Oh, Flounder, don't you see? )

Just a little love
And he'll be good as new
In just a little while
Watch his smile come shining through

He's just a little scared
He needs a friend today
He needs a little love
How can I turn away?

( He's singing!
[Flounder:] He sounds like you . . . kind of.
[Ariel:] See? He likes you. You'll be his big brother.
[Flounder:] I don't want to be his big brother! And I don't want to
be a midnight snack either. It won't work, Ariel!
[Ariel:] Yes it will. )

Just a little love
That's how you begin
Showing him you care
Being there to tuck him in

Helping him to grow
Each and every day
Just a little love
Can go a long, long way

FOR A MOMENT

Okay, get a grip, get the hang of this flipper
It's like slipping two feet into one big, huge slipper
This way is left, which way is right?
Well, now I'll be circling in circles all night
Oh, so this is forward, no problem!
I can't believe I can do this and more
To swim in the sea like I walk on the shore
Out of my shell, not closed up like a clam
Look out sea, this is me, here I am!

(Melody) For a moment, all of me
Is alive and at home in the sea
I'm swirling and twirling, so graceful and grand
Not stubbing my toes getting stuck in the sand
For a moment, life is cool
I'm a splash in the world's biggest pool
This is more than my thoughts ever thought it could be
For a moment, just a moment, lucky me! [giggles]
(Ariel) If only for one moment
I had shared with you all I know
The sea wouldn't be a mystery
Oh, why did you have to go?
(Melody) Everything's newer and brighter and bluer
And truer to life than before
Watch me soar!
For a moment, I can shine
Got a grin and a fin that works fine
My fingers are wrinkly and I really don't care
If all of my curls have curled out of my hair
For a moment, I can feel
All the dreams I've been dreaming are real
Wish my mother could hear it, the sea is my song
For a moment, just a moment, I belong
(Ariel) I will find you my darling
And the moment that I do
I'll hold you close, my Melody,
And sing the song of the sea with you
(Together) Ariel: Sing the song of the sea with you!
Melody: For a moment, just a moment, I belong!

Sing a New Song
From the TV series "The Little Mermaid" ("Message in a Bottle")
By: Randy Petersen and Kevin Quinn
Performed by: Brian Cummings [Simon], Jodi Benson [Ariel]

[Simon:]
Why do all the flounder flee
Every time they look at me?
I try, but I just don't fit in
I only make crustaceans cringe

Though I thought I had a smile worth sharing
I don't know why I scare the herring
I'm so lonely, sad and blue
What's a monster to do?

[Ariel:]
You've got to sing
A happier song
It's time to change that same old tune
You've got to move on
Pick yourself up
Brush off your scales
Get that old tired whale of a tale
Tapping along
Sing a new song!

So come out of your shell
And get into the swim
There's a wonderful world
Waiting for you to jump in

Just say goodbye to the dark and gloomy
Come outside where it's bright and roomy
Try your smile on someone new
And watch what it can do

[Both:]
You've got to sing
A happier song
It's time to change that same old tune
You've got to move on
Pick yourself up
Brush off your scales
Get that old tired whale of a tale
Tapping along
Sing a new song!

There's Only One Ariel
From "The Little Mermaid: Songs from the Sea"
Written by: Alan O'Day and Janis Liebhart
Performed by: [Sisters], Jodi Benson [Ariel], et al.

([Sister:] Has anyone seen Ariel? She hasn't picked out the seaflower
she's going to wear tonight.
[Sister:] We daughters of Triton must look our best at the Mermaids' Ball.
[Sisters:] Why can't she be like the rest of us?)

We play games like other girls
We love to dress up in shells and pearls
But she's off in her own little world
There's only one Ariel
(A-ariel)
She's got the prettiest voice in the sea
But she's never here when she ought to be
(Where is she)
She's the missing note in our harmony
Harmony, oops, sorry!
You're late again, Ariel!

La, la, la, she's a dreamer
There's a faraway look in her eyes
La, la, la, have you seen her?
Swimming far too high
Where the ocean meets the sky

([Ariel:] Come on, Aquata! Come swimming with me! The water's so blue today!
[Aquata:] Ariel, we've got to get ready for the Ball!
[Ariel:] Adella? I found a treasure chest the other day. D'ya wanna come and see?
[Adella:] No! Now hold still while I fasten your necklace.)

[Sisters:] She brings stuff home from everywhere
Her room's a mess
She doesn't care
There's hardly room for her in there
Clean it up, Ariel!

La, la, la, she's a dreamer
There's a faraway look in her eyes
La, la, la, have you seen her?
Swimming far too high
Where the ocean meets the sky

([Ariel:] Come on, Attina, let's go up to the surface and watch the sunset!
[Atina:] Ariel! We're not supposed to do that!

[Sisters:] So, if you're swimming in the sea one day
And a pretty little mermaid wants to play
(Play with me)
We bet you'll know her right away
There's only one Ariel

Ariel
There's only one Ariel

Part of Your World
From "The Little Mermaid"
Music: Alan Menken
Lyrics: Howard Ashman
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel]

Look at this stuff
Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
Wouldn't you think I'm the girl
The girl who has ev'rything?
Look at this trove
Treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Lookin' around here you'd think
(Sure) she's got everything

I've got gadgets and gizmos aplenty
I've got whozits and whatzits galore
(You want thingamabobs?
I got twenty)
But who cares?
No big deal
I want more

I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see
Wanna see 'em dancin'
Walkin' around on those
(Whad'ya call 'em?) oh - feet
Flippin' your fins you don't get too far
Legs are required for jumpin', dancin'
Strollin' along down a
(What's that word again?) street

Up where they walk
Up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wanderin' free
Wish I could be
Part of that world

What would I give
If I could live
Outta these waters?
What would I pay
To spend a day
Warm on the sand?
Betcha on land
They understand
Bet they don't reprimand their daughters
Bright young women
Sick o' swimmin'
Ready to stand

And ready to know what the people know
Ask 'em my questions
And get some answers
What's a fire and why does it
(What's the word?) burn?

When's it my turn?
Wouldn't I love
Love to explore that shore above?
Out of the sea
Wish I could be
Part of that world

Part of Your World (Reprise)

What would I give
To live where you are?
What would I pay
To stay here beside you?
What would I do to see you
Smiling at me?

Where would we walk?
Where would we run?
If we could stay all day in the sun?
Just you and me
And I could be
Part of your world

I don't know when
I don't know how
But I know something's starting right now
Watch and you'll see
Some day I'll be
Part of your world

Party with Me
From "The Little Mermaid: Songs from the Sea"
Written by: Richard Friedman and Phil Baron
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel], Ken Mars [Triton], Samuel E. Wright
  [Sebastian], et al.

([Ariel:] It's time for the ball!
[Triton:] Let the festivities begin!)

[Triton´s other daughters:] Lalalaahlalalaah-la-la-la-lah ohohohohooh

[Ariel:] Just hear that sweet harmony
We love to sing a good song
It's happening under the sea
Bring a friend and come on along

There's a party below
Now get ready to go
And we'll sing in the moonlight
What a great place to be
Come with me and party tonight

Come on, party
Party in the sea
Party, party with me

Catch a wave or even hail a crab
Bring your mom and your dad
(We`ll be..) We'll be laughing
At our troubles
Dancing and blowing bubbles

As soon as it is high tide
That's when the party begins
Sebastian's band plays a tune
We start to kick up our fins

Now the music's so clear
And we all love to hear
The whales sing with all their might
"Come party with me
In the sea on Saturday night"

Come on, party
Party in the sea
Party, party with me

We can jam with all the jellyfish
And play whatever we wish

(We'll be..) We´ll be rowing without oars
Surfing without any boards

Party, party in the sea
Party, party with me
Party, party in the sea
Party, party with me

([Sebastian:] Ariel! Where you going, girl?
[Ariel:] There's something important I have to do! I've gotta write a letter!)

Party, party in the sea
Party, party with me
Party...

Les Poissons
From "The Little Mermaid"
Music: Alan Menken
Lyrics: Howard Ashman
Performed by: Rene Auberjonois [Louis]

Les poissons
Les poissons
How I love les poissons
Love to chop
And to serve little fish
First I cut off their heads
Then I pull out the bones
Ah mais oui
Ca c'est toujours delish
Les poissons
Les poissons
Hee hee hee
Hah hah hah
With the cleaver I hack them in two
I pull out what's inside
And I serve it up fried
God, I love little fishes
Don't you?

Here's something for tempting the palate
Prepared in the classic technique
First you pound the fish flat with a mallet
Then you slash through the skin
Give the belly a slice
Then you rub some salt in
'Cause that makes it taste nice

(Zut alors, I have missed one!)

Sacre bleu
What is this?
How on earth could I miss
Such a sweet little succulent crab?
Quel dommage
What a loss
Here we go in the sauce
Now some flour, I think
Just a dab
Now I stuff you with bread
It don't hurt 'cause you're dead
And you're certainly lucky you are
'Cause it's gonna be hot
In my big silver pot
Toodle loo mon poisson
Au revoir!

Les Poissons

Aus "Arielle, die Meerjungfrau"
Spieler: Victor von Halem [Louis]

Hmmmmmmja, Nouvelle Cuisine, le Champs-Elysées, Maurice Chevalier! Hmhmm!

Haehaehae! Hahaha!
Mit dem Beil hack´ ich sie entzwei.
Was nicht schmeckt, schneid´ ich ´raus,
Fuer den Rest gibt´s Applaus,
Fuer den Fisch, heute frisch, eins, zwei, drei!

Mit Geschmack, très bien, koch´ ich Wunder,
Kreier´ hier mein Meeresmenu.

Quel dommage!
Steigst Du in meinen Topf,
Steigt´s Dir sehr bald zu Kopf,
Zut alors, mon Poisson,
Au revoir!

Poor Unfortunate Souls
From "The Little Mermaid"
Music: Alan Menken
Lyrics: Howard Ashman
Performed by: Pat Carroll [Ursula], Jodi Benson [Ariel]

{The dialogue presented here is the abridged version as heard on the
soundtrack. See also the Lost Lyrics version of this song for a verse
that was cut from the song.}

( [Ursula:] The only way to get what you want is to become a human yourself.
[Ariel:] Can you do that?
[Ursula:] My dear, sweet child. That's what I do - it's what I live for. To
help unfortunate merfolk - like yourself - poor souls with no one else to
turn to. )

I admit that in the past I've been a nasty
They weren't kidding when they called me, well, a witch
But you'll find that nowadays
I've mended all my ways
Repented, seen the light and made a switch
True? Yes

And I fortunately know a little magic
It's a talent that I always have possessed
And here lately, please don't laugh
I use it on behalf
Of the miserable, lonely and depressed
(Pathetic)

Poor unfortunate souls
In pain
In need
This one longing to be thinner
That one wants to get the girl
And do I help them?
Yes, indeed
Those poor unfortunate souls
So sad
So true
They come flocking to my cauldron
Crying, "Spells, Ursula please!"
And I help them?
Yes, I do

Now it's happened once or twice
Someone couldn't pay the price
And I'm afraid I had to rake 'em 'cross the coals
Yes, I've had the odd complaint
But on the whole I've been a saint
To those poor unfortunate souls

( [Ursula:] Have we got a deal?
[Ariel:] If I become human, I'll never be with my father or sisters again.
[Ursula:] But you'll have your man. Life's full of tough choices, innit?
Oh - and there is one more thing. We haven't discussed the subject of payment.
[Ariel:] But I don't have any -
[Ursula:] I'm not asking much. Just a token, really, a trifle. What I want
from you is . . . your voice.
[Ariel:] But without my voice, how can I -
[Ursula:] You'll have your looks! Your pretty face! And don't underestimate
the importance of body language! Ha! )

The men up there don't like a lot of blabber
They think a girl who gossips is a bore
Yes, on land it's much preferred
For ladies not to say a word
And after all, dear, what is idle prattle for?

Come on, they're not all that impressed with conversation
True gentlemen avoid it when they can
But they dote and swoon and fawn
On a lady who's withdrawn
It's she who holds her tongue who gets her man

Come on, you poor unfortunate soul
Go ahead!
Make your choice!
I'm a very busy woman
And I haven't got all day
It won't cost much
Just your voice!
You poor unfortunate soul
It's sad
But true
If you want to cross a bridge, my sweet
You've got to pay the toll
Take a gulp and take a breath
And go ahead and sign the scroll!
Flotsam, Jetsam, now I've got her, boys
The boss is on a roll
This poor unfortunate soul

Reef With a View
From the album "The Little Mermaid: Splash Hits"
By: Rick Dempsey and Joel Jacks
Performed by: Randy Crenshaw [Wayne the Newt]

There is a haven, an underwater nook
It's even better than a worm without a hook
Oh, I have aspirations that amount to nothing more
Than to see the light reflect your scales
When I swim through that door

All I want is a reef with a view
To call it home sweet home for me and you

Some people dream of a cavern in the deep
Or a place filled with some seaweed to eat
But I've got you and
Now there's only one more thing I need
I wish upon a big starfish and grovel, beg and plead

All I want is a reef with a view
To call it home sweet home for me and you
All I want is a reef with a view
A cosy little place made for two

And so my guppy, my adorable poisson
These aspirations are what I'll keep working on
So we can keep on dreaming
And our love will get us through
And who knows, maybe someday
All this dreaming will come true

All I want is a reef with a view
To call it home sweet home for me and you
All I want is a reef with a view
A cosy little place made for two

My Room in the Sea
From "The Little Mermaid: Songs from the Sea"
Written by: Nancy Bryan and Elizabeth Pavone
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel]

(Ahhh, alone in my secret grotto at last. I wonder if the girl who wrote to
me has a place where she can go to think - and dream!)

There is a special place
Where only I can go
When life gets confusing
There's a certain place I know
Filled with wishes
And my favorite things
I can while away the hours
In sweet imaginings

Secret treasures I keep
In my room in the sea
I can dream all my dreams
In my room in the sea
In my room in the sea

I look into the mirror
And wonder who I'll be
I read of far-off places
And it brings the world to me
And in my diary
I write my feelings down
While listening to the music
From a seashell that I found

Secret treasures I keep
In my room in the sea
I can dream all my dreams
In my room in the sea
In my room in the sea
In my room in the sea

Ahahahahahoh- I love to bead white pearls
Weave them through my hair
listen to the waves
They wash away my cares
It's so easy to let go
'Cause my room is my home

Secret treasures I keep
In my room in the sea
I can dream all my dreams
In my room in the sea
In my room in the sea
In my room in the sea
In my room in the sea
In my room in the sea
In my room in the sea
In my room in the sea
In my room in the sea
In my room in the sea

The Scuttle Strut
From "The Little Mermaid: Songs from the Sea"
Written by: Elli Baer and Tod Cooper
Performed by: Buddy Hackett [Scuttle], Jodi Benson [Ariel]

([Scuttle:] Mermaid ahoy! Hiya Ariel! Say, whatcha doin' up here on
the surface?
[Ariel:] Scuttle, I wanna write a letter to a little girl. She wants to
know about mermaids. Can you help me?
[Scuttle:] You betcha, sweetie! Ol' Scuttle knows everything about
writin' letters.)

Humans are my specialty
With all their fancy stuff
You wanna write a letter?
Hey, that's not so tough
First you need a tapplehooper
That's what they use to write
A ballpoint tapplehooper
Would really be outta sight

([Ariel:] Are you sure they write with . . . "tapplehoopers"?
[Scuttle:] Absolutely!
[Ariel:] Oh, Scuttle!)

[Scuttle:] It's hard to be humble
When you know everything
I may have an ego
But it's under my wing

Everyone wants answers
No ifs, ands or buts
So, I show off politely
That's the Scuttle Strut

Strut!
Do the Scuttle Strut
Strut!

(This letter-writing stuff is a cinch! Humans do it all the time. Now,
here's what you gotta do:)

You start out, "Very truly yours"
And end it with, "Dear friend"
And in between you say things like
"How large the weather's been"
Then you stuff it in a bottle
A special one that floats
Humans only use them
For their most important notes

([Ariel:] Like this bottle - the one I found with the letter inside!
[Scuttle:] Sure! Why, you could mail anything in that.)

It's hard to be humble
When you know everything
I may have an ego
But it's under my wing

Everyone wants answers
Who?, why?, where? and what?
So I show off politely
That's the Scuttle Strut

Do the Scuttle Strut
Strut!
Strut!
Do the Scuttle Strut
Strut!

It's hard to be humble
When you know everything
I may have an ego
But it's under my wing

Everyone wants answers
No ifs, ands or buts
So, I show off politely
Strut

Strut!
Do the Scuttle Strut
Strut!

(Now, you'd better hurry home, sweetie. You know what your father'd say
if he finds you up here on the surface again.

Strut!

[Ariel:] Thanks, Scuttle!)

We Share the Earth
From "The Little Mermaid: Songs from the Sea"
Written by: George Wilkins, Phil Baron and Richard Friedman
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel]

(You know - even though we've never met, I feel like I know you.)

The place you live is warm and dry
And the sky is soft and blue
The place I live is cool and wet
And there's a different view

We share the earth
Every summer day and sunset
Each starry night when day is through
We share the earth
Every single wave that runs up to the shore
Was sent from me and touches you

So, I send my message out across the sea
On a wave, the one that brought your note to me

We share the earth
Every big, white cloud you see
Belongs to you
Belongs to me
We share the earth

The place you live has lots of air
And some lovely things that fly
But it's so very different here
The world goes floating by

We share the earth
Every forest, every ocean
Each drop of rain, each bit of dew
We share the earth
Every mountain you can see
Belongs to you
Belongs to me
We share the earth

We share the earth
Every big white cloud you see
Belongs to you
Belongs to me
We share the earth

  We share the earth
We share the earth
  We share the earth
We share the earth
  We share the earth
We share the earth
  We share the earth
We share the earth
  We share the earth

Sea Floor Strut
From the album "The Little Mermaid: Splash Hits"
By: Dave Kinnoin and Jimmy Hammer
Performed by: Samuel E. Wright [Sebastian]

1, 2, 3, and

Hey!

That was good, one more time girls. Are you ready? Let´s do it, now!

Hey!

Ha, that´s good. Here we go everybody

Okay, time to move
Put your body in the groove
Creatures here below
Oh, here we go
Right left, right left right
Stretch up to your highest height
One, two
Say what?
Sea floor strut, uuh

Now the crabs can get a bit excited, oh
When da clams can't keep their big mouths shut, noo
But when they're dancing they are all united
Oh, you can spot them on the bottom
As they do the sea floor strut

Ou!

Lean back, turn around
Feel that beat that's going - down
One two, oh, say what?
Hey man!
Sea floor strut

Oh yeah, me and you
Se us drop and stop on cue
Stop!
Say what?
Ha! Sea floor strut

Would you check out that old crazy grouper
Jammin' out of his old lazy rut
He says, "Hey, don't you be a party pooper
Get your rear in gear 'cause here, my dear
We do the sea floor strut"

Ou!

Sieh dich nur um!
Ist das nicht schoen?
Hast Du sowas denn schon einmal geseh´n?
Glaubst Du nicht auch, ich haett´ viel,
Ich haett´ viel schon erreicht?

Sieh diesen Schatz,
Mein Lieblingsstueck!
Ich hab´s gefunden,
Fand ich nicht mein Glueck?
Siehst Du Dich um, glaubst Du wohl:
Klar! Sie hat alles schon!

Ich hab´ zahllosen Kram und viel Plunder,
Ich erstick´ im Klimbim, sieh nur her!
Willst Du staunen? Hier, kleine Wunder!

Zieht´s mich dort hin,
Ich will´s probieren!
Ich moechte ´rauf,
Endlich hinauf
An ihren Strand.
Will ihren Sand
In meiner Hand,
Was man mir nur genannt,
Selbst spueren.

Ich will´s wissen,
Endlich wissen,
Ich bin gespannt
Und sehr interessiert,
Was man oben weiss.
Hab´ viele Fragen,
Moecht´ drauf Antwort!

Was waer´ das Ziel?
Mit Dir nur Hand in Hand durchs Leben!
Nur Du und ich!
Ich wuensch´ fuer mich:
Ein Mensch zu sein!

Ich weiss nicht: Wann?
Ich weiss nicht: Wie?
Doch ich spuer´ etwas Neues in mir!
Das ist kein Spiel,
Es ist mein Ziel:
Ein Mensch zu sein!

Under the Sea
From "The Little Mermaid"
Music: Alan Menken
Lyrics: Howard Ashman
Performed by: Samuel E. Wright [Sebastian]

The seaweed is always greener
In somebody else's lake
You dream about going up there
But that is a big mistake
Just look at the world around you
Right here on the ocean floor
Such wonderful things surround you
What more is you lookin' for?

Under the sea
Under the sea
Darling it's better
Down where it's wetter
Take it from me
Up on the shore they work all day
Out in the sun they slave away
While we devotin'
Full time to floatin'
Under the sea

Down here all the fish is happy
As off through the waves they roll
The fish on the land ain't happy
They sad 'cause they in their bowl
But fish in the bowl is lucky
They in for a worser fate
One day when the boss get hungry
Guess who's gon' be on the plate

Under the sea
Under the sea
Nobody beat us
Fry us and eat us
In fricassee
We what the land folks loves to cook
Under the sea we off the hook
We got no troubles
Life is the bubbles
Under the sea
Under the sea
Since life is sweet here
We got the beat here
Naturally
Even the sturgeon an' the ray
They get the urge 'n' start to play
We got the spirit
You got to hear it
Under the sea

The newt play the flute
The carp play the harp
The plaice play the bass
And they soundin' sharp
The bass play the brass
The chub play the tub
The fluke is the duke of soul
(Yeah)
The ray he can play
The lings on the strings
The trout rockin' out
The blackfish she sings
The smelt and the sprat
They know where it's at
An' oh that blowfish blow

Under the sea
Under the sea
When the sardine
Begin the beguine
It's music to me
What do they got? A lot of sand
We got a hot crustacean band
Each little clam here
know how to jam here
Under the sea
Each little slug here
Cuttin' a rug here
Under the sea
Each little snail here
Know how to wail here
That's why it's hotter
Under the water
Ya we in luck here
Down in the muck here
Under the sea

Unter dem Meer

Aus "Arielle, die Meerjungfrau"
Spieler: Joachim Kemmer [Sebastian]

[Sebastian:]
Der Seetang blueht immer gruener,
Wenn er Dich von fern erfreut.
Deshalb willst Du zu den Menschen,
Doch das hast Du schnell bereut.
Schau Deine Welt doch genau an,
Ja hier, wo Du schwimmst und lebst!
Voll Wunder siehst Du das Blau dann,
Sag selbst, was Du noch erstrebst.

Unter dem Meer, Unter dem Meer!
Wo waer´ das Wasser
Besser und nasser,
Als es hier waer´?!

Die droben schuften wie verrueckt,
D´rum wirken sie auch so bedrueckt!
Wo hasst man streben?
Wo lebt man eben?
Unter dem Meer!
Ah hahahaha hahahaha.

Bei uns sind die Fische gluecklich,
Man tummelt sich und hat Spass.
An Land bist Du gar nicht gluecklich,
Du landest in einem Glas.
Dem Schicksal bist Du echt schnuppe:
Du bist schon ein armer Fisch!
Hat Dein Boss mal Lust auf Suppe...
Schwups, bist Du auf seinem Tisch!
Oh, nein!

Voller Esprit!
  Voller Esprit, ee ee ee!

Sogar die Sprotten und der Lachs,
Die spielen spottend mit zum flachs.
Wir spielen alle,
Zander und Qualle,
Unter dem Meer!

Die Kroet´ spielt die Floet´,
Die Larv´ zupft die Harf´,
Die Brass´ schlaegt den Bass,
Klingt der Sound nicht scharf?
Der Barsch blaest den Marsch,
Die Schlei´ spielt Schalmei
Und hier ist der King of Soul.
  Yeah!
Der Hecht jazzt nicht schlecht,
Der Schellfisch singt hot,
Der Wal swingt nasal,
Der Butt am Fagott,
Der Molch und der Lurch,
Die schwimmen nur durch
Und der Fisch,
Der blaest sich auf!

Woa, wohah,
Yeaaah!
Unter dem Meer!
  Unter dem Meer!
Unter dem Meer!
  Unter dem Meer!
Wenn der Delphin beginnt die Beguine,
Will ich immer mehr!
...wollen wir immer mehr!
Was haben die, ausser viel Sand?
Nur wir sind ausser Rand und Band!
Denn jedes Tier hier, das musiziert hier,
Unter dem Meer!

Selbst jede Schnecke kriecht aus der Ecke,
Unter dem Meer!
Jede Languste kommt ausser Puste,
´s ist unter Wasser heisser und nasser!
Ja, uns geht´s toll hier,
Ganz wundervoll hier,
Unter dem Meer!

Ursulas Zauber

Aus "Arielle, die Meerjungfrau"
Spieler: Beate Hasenau [Ursula]

Frueher war ich, das ist wahr, ein echtes Ekel!
Wer mich Hexe schimpfte, hatte leider recht.

Ich mach´ was Gutes draus.
Fuer die Verzweifelten da lohnt sich meine Mueh´.
Mit Gefuehl!

Arme Seelen in Not,
Voll Schmerz, voll Pein!
Dieser saeh´ sich lieber schlanker,
Jeder ist vor Liebe krank.
Lass´ ich sie allein?
Aber nein!

Die armen Seelen in Not,
Ganz krank, wie wahr!
Alle kommen voller Hoffnung,
Dass mein Zauber ihnen hilft,
Und ich helfe,
Ist doch klar!

Sei´n wir ehrlich, es kam vor,
Ja, man haut mich uebers Ohr,
Doch wer´s versucht,
Der spuert sehr schnell,
Da seh´ ich rot!
Klar Du darfst, das raeum ich ein,
Doch meist ziert mich ein Blumenschein
Fuer die armen Seelen in Not!

Du arme Seele in Not,
Triff die Wahl jetzt und hier!
Ich hab´ and´res noch zu machen,
Also halte mich nicht auf!
Deine Stimme, gib sie mir!

Du arme Seele in Not!
Fatal, doch wahr!
Nirgends wird Dir was geschenkt, mein Schatz,
Denn Geld regiert die Welt!
Unterschreib´ hier das Papier,
Bevor es anders mir gefaellt!
Flotsam, Jetsam! Ich hab´ sie Boys!
Der Boss ist doch der Hoechst.
Du arme Seel´ in Not!

Beluga, Sefruga, kommt Winde vom Kaspischen Meer!
Bazillus, Vampirkuss und viel Hokuspokus! Die Stimme, komm´ her!

What's it Like to Be a Mermaid?
From "The Little Mermaid: Songs from the Sea"
Written by: Diana Rae and Patty Way
Performed by: Jodi Benson [Ariel]

(They just don't understand. It's not enough for me. Oh! I wish I
could show them what I found! A note in a bottle from a little girl!
And she wonders about mermaids just like I wonder about humans.)

I found a little bottle
Bobbing in the water
Carried on a wave
Inside there was a note
That a little girl wrote
This is what she had to say

Mermaid, mermaid
Tell me true
What's it feel like
To be you?

What's it like to be a mermaid?
A little lady from down under the sea
Do you go to school with fishes?
Do you have to do the dishes?
Are you like me?

What's it like to be a mermaid?
Tell me a little of your life in the blue
Is there music?
Are there dances?
Are there undersea romances?
Do you wonder from down under
Like I do about you?

Growing up a daughter of the underwater
Is like a fantasy
But I am curious, too
Dreaming, just like you do
About the world beyond the beach
Well here's a mermaid's point of view
For those of you who wish they knew

What it's like to be a mermaid
A little lady from down under the sea
We go dancing with the dolphin
Riding waves and whale watching
In the sea breeze

What's it like to be a mermaid?
Well, it's delightful
Living life in the blue
But, though we go to school with fishes
Eat from shells instead of dishes
We're really not so very, very different from you

What's it like to be a mermaid?
Our ways are not as far apart
As they seem
We comb our hair with coral
Wear a splash of ocean floral
In the evening

What's it like to be a mermaid?
Well, it's delightful
Living life in the blue
We go swimming with the tuna
In a tropical lagoon-a
Chasing manatee and mantas
But our folks don't understand us
When we kick up a commotion
At the bottom of the ocean
We're really not so very, very different from you

Oh, what's it like to be a mermaid?
What's it like to be a mermaid?
Oh, what's it like to be a mermaid?

(Gosh! I just remembered! Tonight is the Mermaids' Ball. Oh, but I can get
ready for that later. First, I've got to answer the note I found.)
