Home: Filming: Filming 1999

During the summer of 1999, I got an e-mail from BallyK's Production Executive, asking me if I'd like to get involved with the BBC's official BallyK web site, which of course I did. After I had written the 'Remember the Day' section of the site, the team from BBC Northern Ireland Online were planning a trip to the set to get more interviews with the cast and crew before filming finished and they invited me along.

I had assumed that they would be filming on location, either in Avoca, Enniskerry or a remote mountain top. My previous trip to the set had been during the summer, but with the cold wind which blows through the Vale, I'd been freezing for most of the time. It transpired that they were filming in the studios near Bray, so that's where we would be going. Even so, in my experience of TV sets you do a lot of hanging around and it's generally quite cold, so I packed my warmest clothes and set off for Dublin again.
