My Super Soap Weekend Story

   I was lucky enough to go to SSW at DIsney this year and I was even lucky enough to meet my favorite soap star, Kassie DePaiva (Blair). I even got to be one of her partners on the Super Soap Spin Games Show that Walt Willey (Jackson on AMC) hosted. They even have my picture ( the one above) at ABC's SSW site in the OLTL gallery. We played against Marcy Walker (Liza ,AMC) and Nancy Grahn(Alexis, GH). Guess What? WE WON! I have to say when I first met Kassie DePaiva on Saturday I was really nervous. I have never went to meet anyone on TV and I just love, Blair. Me and a friend of mine went through her line and when we met her I gave her a card that had the address to a chat room I go to on one side and the address to this site on the other. She mentioned that she had recieved a card we had sent her about this site. She said that she doesn`t really go on line, but that she wants to. She also thanked us for the fan support. She was so nice and I was so glad that she was.
      We also met James DePaiva that day. It really rained hard while we were in his line. We were maybe 10 people back when it really poured and he looked at us and laughed and asked us if we were crazy. He was really funny and quite handsome.
       It was hard to meet Susan Lucci, but she did do an interview that we saw. She is very pretty and petite. She had brought her Emmy Award with her and had it displayed at Soap Central. It was fun to see it.
       We saw a talk show that Lynn Herring and Kin Shriner (Lucy & Scott ) were in too. They were joined by Emily, Elizabeth, and Juan (GH).  I really wanted to meet Lynn but she really took her time and talked to each fan so you had to be in her line early to meet her. She seemed to be great though. She did said that the guy who plays DV is a good kisser.
      On Sunday we wore our Blair`s Life To Live tee-shirts. We had a copy of one of our greeting cards on it. It was the one with Dorian and Blair on it. Kassie said that Robin Strasser would get a kick out of it. She signed our shirts and gave us a picture for this site. When we went to take a picture I realised my camera was messed up. She told us to come back to the next signing and she would let us go first, and she did. Again I was so glad she was so nice.
       While we were in line it stormed again so we decided to go and see Catherine Hickland`s  (Lindsay) Talk Show. She was great as the hostess. Kassie and James were her first guest. They showed clips from the show and talked about working together. When asked if the ever fight before they go on they replied,"When don`t we!". It was cute. They were joined by Alexis, Ned, and Stephan (GH).  When Stephan came out he was wearing a Mickey Mouse poncho and was dancing like he was "Singing In The Rain". I had never thought of him as funny, but he is.  Alexis said she had been asked who the better kisser was, Ned or Jax. She said she had only kissed Jax once, but was willing to investigate and let us know. It was funny.
      Then we met Erin (Jessica). She is really a sweet girl. She does go on line and asked about posting. While we were standing in her line a lady came out and said that she could only do 10 more people.There were maybe 20 of us. She looked at the lady and told her to let us stay. We were glad and it was extremly nice of her since she had been in the rain for an hour too.
After that by some chance I ran into a girl I only know from Yahoo Chat. She recognised my shirt. She told us about the game show that Walt Willey hosted. We decided to go. When we got there we sat on the OLTL side. The ladies who run the show went through the crowd and picked fans from each show. They picked me and a girl named Dawn for OLTL. It wasn`t until Kassie DePaiva walked up that I knew who the OLTL actor would be. When she walked up she not only recognised me from earlier, but she also remembered my name. I was IMPRESSED! It was so exciting when we won.
      By this time it was really raining. We went to see Hillary B. Smith (Nora).  They told us it was up to each star if they came out in the rain or not. All of the sudden we saw her running towards us with her pants rolled up to her knees, no shoes,and wearing a Mickey Mouse poncho.. She was adorable. She said she doesn`t like to go on line because she doesn`t like to read negative things about people when they work so hard.
      Bob Woods (Bo) pretty much said the same thing. When he read our shirt he said,"Blair`s Life To Live! Kassie is a sweet person, but that could be scarey!". Hillary thought it was ,"A HOOT!".
       After that it was time to go try to take our pictures with Kassie again. When we walked up she greeted us, took our picture, and told the crowd about us winning the game show. She was so kind and the fact that she remembered my name again really made my day! I didn`t get to ask her much, but I did ask her if  Todd was coming back. She said she didn`t think so and sounded sincere. As far as her character goes it is up to the writers and she said nothing good or bad in that reguard. 
        I also met Linda Dano (Rae) who is a classy Lady, Julie, Eve(PC) who is adorable, and Kelly Ripa (Haley ,AMC). She says that OLTL is her favorite soap and that she has watched since childhood and still does. She said she likes Blair too and that she really likes Kassie alot. After that we saw the parade.
      I just want o close by saying that I had a great time. When me and my sister started this site it was just to see if we could do it. We chose Blair because she is our favorite character. After meeting Kassie DePaiva I am glad we did. I have watched soap pretty much my whole life and had never attended to a fan event before. I wasn`t really sure what to expect. I can say it was  more than I had hoped for. Everyone that I met more went out of their way to make their fans feel appreciated. If you get the chance to attend next year I hope that you do. I know that I had a time.
