Vamping It Up

With one-liners worthy of a Buffy episode, James Marsters and Emma Caulfield give us the dirt on top-secret plotlines, smackng S.M.G., and smooching cast members.

OK, let’s get right to the point. What’s up for Buffy this season? Will Spike and Anya get their powers back?
James:
I’m not supposed to say, but what I can tell you is that [Buffy creator] Joss Whedon is cooking up a season beyond my wildest dreams. Spike will rock next year. You think Buffy’s fun now? Just wait.

Fine, we’ll play by the rules. What do you hope will happen?
James:
Two words: “More tail.” I want to either kick it, get it, or both.

Speaking of, Emma, think Anya and Xander will stay together? And what about those rumors on the Web about Spike and Anya getting it on?
Emma:
I really don’t know anything for sure. I have heard some things, but I can’t actually say what I’ve heard. You know that.

Why do you think fans love Spike so much?
James:
I think Spike’s appeal is that he can take whatever, or whoever he wants, whenever he wants. Instant gratification. That, and the fact that he has bleached blond hair without roots.

Fave Buffy episode:
James:
“Something Blue” when Spike and Buffy almost get married. I’ve always known that to really be in the center of things in the show, you have to be either kissing Buffy or hitting Buffy. Now that I’ve done both, believe me, kissing her is much better.

Emma, you’ve had roles on Saved By the Bell: The New Class, 90210, and now Buffy. That’s like the triple crown of teen pop culture.
Emma:
I have fond memories of all three, but Buffy has definitely been the best time I’ve had on a show, any show. Period.

Now the big question: If you could date any Buffy cast member, who would it be?
Emma:
None of them really. None of them are my type.
James: How can I choose? Can I have them all?
