Liam sat at his desk, staring out the window at nothing in particular. The place seemed devoid of life to him. His house, with all of the servants hard at work, yet nothing caught his attention. The books that needed his attention sat open on the desk unattended to. Liam sat in his chair facing the window lost in thought. 'She had been gone over a week, and still no word. She must have been with Jeremy for a couple of days now. Would she really come back? Would he lose her again, this time for good?' He looked down at the piece of paper in the palm of his hand. He couldn't just sit there and do nothing, he had done that before, and he was determined not to lose his love. He looked out the window one last time, and prayed for help, he was going to need it. His brother, Scott, walked in to Liam's office. Scott looked at his brother, and shook his head. "Liam, my brother," he started and waited for Liam to turn and face him. Liam took a deep breath and rolled his eyes. He knew what was coming. Turning to face Scotty, Liam braced himself for the onslaught. Instead he was greeted by a goofy grin. "What the devil are we doing here," Liam asked. Scotty hopped off his horse, and pulled a little bag off his horse. "Go, bring her home Liam," Scotty said looking Liam straight in the eye. Liam started to tear up. He pulled Scotty into a hug. When he broke off both brothers were watering. Scotty threw the bag at Liam, "Go, what are you waiting for?" Liam smiled from ear to ear. He turned and ran towards the ticket office. Halfway there he stopped in his tracks and turned. "Scotty, what about the business?" he began. Scotty threw both hands up in the air. "I can do that, I didn't go to college for nothing!" he exclaimed exasperated. Liam looked at him, and smiled, his brother had grown up. "I'll write and let you know what happens," he yelled as he ran into the ticked office. "I want one ticket to Lexington, Kentucky." He said, taking a deep breath he paid for the ticket, and waited for the train to arrive. 'It wouldn't be long now,' he thought. Continued... |
