LISA'S TEARFUL GOODBYE

Bruised, exhausted and emotionally drained, Gold Logie winner Lisa McCune is sobbing her heart out on the set. As her Blue Heelers co-star Martin Sacks - Senior Detective P.J. Hasham - comforts Senior-Constable Maggie Doyle, Lisa admits she isn't having to summon up the tears.

'I was really wound up and physically just so tired,' Lisa says.

In what will be one of the most watched Blue Heelers episodes ever, Maggie faces heartbreak as she puts her life on the line while trying to save a young child being pursued by a vicious murderer. In a shock turn of events, Maggie's brother Robbie, played by Brett Climo (with whom Lisa filmed the show's most talk-about episodes last year when Maggie had to accept the fact that her brother was a heroin addict) escapes from jail and comes looking for her.

It was Robbie's arrival in Mount Thomas and his sister's attempts to help him, even though he repeatedly lied to her, stole from her and let her down at every turn, that saw Maggie temporarily suspended from the force. And it was her distress that led Maggie into the arms of P.J. Now, just as Maggie is getting her life back on track, Robbie threatens to turn it upside down.

'I was totally exhausted at the end of filming,' Lisa explains. 'I was genuinely quite upset and those tears were for real.'

Maggie finds herself chased by an axe-wielding murderer and staring down the barrel of a gun, terrified that she has no escape. Her most terrifying encounter yet ends in tragedy, unspeakable heartache and a moving farewell.

But, you'll have to wait until the cliffhanger episode screens on the Seven network on November 11 to discover the full extent of Maggie's despair.
