Chapter 10
Sonny finally pulled away from their embrace.He took her hand and pulled her
up with him.
"Come on baby. Let's go celebrate."
She looked at him surprised.
"Celebrate what ?"
"Us. Everything and anything we can think of. Life is perfect for us right
now. I want us to enjoy it."
"I thought we were."
Brenda whispered as put her arms around his neck and she kissed him again,
deeply.
"I meant go out andshare our happiness with other people. Our friends."
Brenda shook her head.
"No, I want us to be alone. I can't be in the same room with you and tons of
other people."
She murmured into his neck. He buried his head in her hair which smelled like
vanilla. He couldn't resist the urge to make love to her right then and there.
He didn't know how he could ever resist her. After all this time she still
could make him lose control. Brenda slid off his jacket and ran her fingers
acroos his chest. He groaned and kissed her long and hard on the lips.
"I want you. I need you so bad. Make love to me. Now." She whispered with that
look in her eyes. He looked back at her, want and desire filled his eyes.
He picked her up and carried her up the stairs. As fast as he could without
dropping her. He gently put her on the bed. She kneeled on the bed in front of
where he stood. She started unbutoning his shirt and tossed it on the floor
while he kissed her neck, leaving a trail of kisses. Her soft skin burned from
his touch. Inpatiently, he slid off her skirt and pulled her shirt off.
She moved back on the bed, giving him space to join her.
She moaned softly while he began to make love to her and whispered words of
love to her.
Luke's
That night,
The whole crowd is there, including Kevin, Lucy, Lois and Ned.
Mike is pouring drinks behind the bar while Lucy is talking Luke's ear off.
"So, then..." Lucy pauses momentarily when she spots Lois and Ned.
She changes pace." Hey you two. I haven't seen you in ages. HOw's life ? You
look good. Both of you. You know, I seem to be having a teeensy weensie
problem that maybe you can help me with."
Ned eyes her warily. Lois smiled.
"Hi Lucy, maybe we can help. Is this about ELQ and Deception because-"
"No, no no no. Well, kind of. See, it appears that my top model, the FACE of
DECEPION has fallen off the face of the planet. I called her at Kelly's, I
left her messages with Ruby, I called her voicemail. We have a big campaign
coming up and I can't find her anywhere. If I don't hear from her soon I will
go crazy."
Lois tried to speak up during this but couldn't. Luke finally whistled.
"Whoa Lucy. Calm down. Brenda is probably with Sonny."
"Yeah, she's probably at Sonny's now. They just got back from the big apple."
Lois said.
Lucy still looked confused.
"Why would they-"
"They're back together-." Luke explained.
"And engaged." Lois finished.
"I'm just going to head over there and have a chat with Brenda. Doc, you
coming ?"
"Lucy, I don't think you should go over there. They probably want to be alone
since they aren't here."
"Oh. Oh, gotcha." Lucy said. "I'll just give her a call later then. Ta-ta."
Lucy dragged Kevin back to their table.
Lucy started talking to Luke about booking a band there that weekend.
Ned went to the bar and began talking with Mike.
"Can I get you something ?"
"Scotch on the rocks."
"Coming up."
"Thanks." Ned took the glass.
"I take it you heard about my son and Brenda."
"Yes, she came over earlier beaming."
"She's happy. They both are."
"And I want Bredna to be happy but I don't think she will be with Sonny. He's
dangerous and he could get her killed. He almost did already."
"Sonny loves her. He wouldn't do anything to hurt her. He's going to take care
of her."
Ned stood up.
"I'm glad one of us believes that. I don't think he can. She won't be happy
for long. He'll destroy her again. Just like he did before.It won't last."
"It's not your call to make. It's not mine either. It's my son's call and
Brenda's."
"No offense but your son isn't exactly the best person to ask for advice and
he's not very good at making the right decision. I just hope it doesn't cost
Brenda her life."
Ned walked back over to his wife.
Later that night,
Brenda and Sonny are in bed, laughing.
"Do you hear that ?"
"What ?"
"It's my stomach growling. I'm starving."
"I can fix that." Sonny leaned over and started to kiss her.
Brenda playfully pushed him away.
"No. I meant for food."
He pretended to look hurt.
"I'm sorry but I have't eaten anything since this morning and what we did
before took up a lot of my strength."
"Something like that...I'll go see what we have in the kitchen."
Sonny got up and pulled on his robe.
"Please, the kitchen is probably full of food. Don't tell me that you have
nothing to eat."
He laughed and went downstairs to make them something.
The phone rang and Brenda answered it out absent-mindedly.
"Hello ?"
"Brenda ? It's Lucy. I really needed to talk to you about tomorrow-"
Brenda smiled to herself.
"Tomorrow ?"
Lucy started getting hysterical."YES! Tomorrow ! You do remember that we have
a shoot don't you ? A very very important one. I need you there bright and
early with a smile on your face."
"Lucy, I remember. I was just kidding. You have to relax. What time
should I be at the studio ?"
"9:00 am sharp. We need a few hours to set up, get some test shots and you
have to meet the photographer. Danny is really good. He's a great guy and
charming. Not to mention not bad to look at."
"Lucy, what happened to Kevin ?"
"Oh pooh. I can still notice, can't I ? Of course I'm not sure you can. Being
engaged and all."
Brenda sat up starighter.
"Who told you ?"
"I was at Luke's and ieveryone knew. Except me that is. Why is that?"
"I was going to tell you the next time I saw you. I wanted to ask you to be my
bridesmaid. You know, for being my friend and giving me this great job."
"Awww. I think I'm going to cry." Lucy said starting to sniffle.
"So, is that a yes ?"
"Of course it is silly. So things are good ?"
Brenda sighed happily.
"Things are perfect. I can't even remember being this happy before."
She broke out into a huge smile when she saw Sonny come back into the room
with a tray of strawberries and whipped cream.
He set the tray down in front of her and fed her one.
"Hhmm Lucy. Okay...I'll be there with bells on but I have to go now...Yes.
Bye."
She quickly hung up before Lucy could get in another word.
"Bells huh ? I'd love to see that." He grinned.
Brenda hit him with her pillow.
"You are soo bad you know that ?"
"Hey, I got you something to eat, didn't I ?"
Brenda smiled and eat another strwaberry before feeding him one dipped in
whipped cream.
"Yes you did and I'll have to thank you for that."
"How ?"
"I can think of some way."
"So can I."
They both leaned in closer and their lips locked in a long lingering kiss.
They started geting into it when the phone rang.
"Ignore it."
"I can't. It might be Lucy again."
"If it is tell her that I'll personally make sure you are late tomorrow to
make up for the time we're losing together now."
"Lucy will kill both of us if that happens."
Brenda grabbed the phone of the nightstand.
"Hello ?"
No answer.
"Hello ?" She repeated.
Click.
Brenda hung up the phone.
"Wrong number ?"
"I guess." She shrugged.
"What's wrong ? "
"Nothing. Now, where were we before we were interrupted ?"
Sonnny crawled back over to her and pulled her to him.
"I think..about here."
"Realy ? Because I think we were anout here."
She took his hand and put it on her cheek and kissed him softly.
"You know I think you're right." He whispered, pulling back slightly to take
in her glowing beauty.
"Yeah ?"
"Mmhhhh."
Chapter 11
Sonny woke up to the noise of Brenda scurying around their bedroom. She was
going through the shopping bags from their trip to New York.
"Brenda ?"
"Good morning baby."
"What are you doing ?"
"Trying to get ready for the shoot later. If I'm late Lucy will kill me."
"Why aren't you dressed then, not that I'm complaining though."
"Because I don't have anything to wear. My stuff is still at Kelly's. I
haven't officially moved out of there and in here yet. Besides, I have't
exactly needed clothes around here."
Sonny got up and and wrapped his arms around her waist from the behind.
"You can run around here completely naked for all I care. "
"Thanks baby." She said sarcastically.
"Anyytime, you know, if you want me to I can go to Kelly's later and get all
your stuff for you."
"I'd rather get it all myself tomorrow. I'll be tied up all morning and
afternoon. I won't have time today and you won't know what to pack and
everything. I have a lot of stuff."
"I remember. I couldn't believe all that stuff you had when you moved in above
Luke's."
"Yeah, that was a long time ago. I've managed to acummulate much more junk
since then." Brenda pulled out a pair of balck pants out of one of the bags
and a silk shirt.
"I found them." She gave him a peck on the cheek and rushed into the bathroom.
A few moments later she rushed back out again.
"I have to go. Where do you want to meet for dinner ?"
"Don't you want me to pick you up later ?"
"No, I don't know when I'll be done."
"How about Luke's ? I have to go over the books anyway."
"Okay, bye."
Brenda started to leave but he grabbed her arm gently.
"Hey, don't you want breakfast ?"
"I don't have time. I'll grab something later. I'm not very hungry anyway."
The Deception Studio
(BTW since Jax isn't in this story, there is no jacks cosmetics and Lucy owns
Deception. I don't like Katherine so she has nothing to do with Deception
either. One character I hate,i.e lily, is enough.)
Brend arrived and Lucy whisked her into make up and wardrobe.
She was finally ready and alked back out. She saw Lucy talking to a tall
blonde man with a camera. She guessed he was the photograpgher.
She glanced in a nearby mirror and walked over.
Lucy spotted her.
"Hey Brenda. You look absolutely fabulous as always. Craig, this is our star
model Brenda Barrett. Brenda, this is Craig Woodwards."
Craig smiled and held out his hand. She shook it.
"Nice to finally meet you."
"Same here. I saw the spread you did in Elle. It was really good."
"Thanks. We went on location for most of them. Being out of the studio added
something. Hey Lucy, next time we work together we should go to Jamaica and
get some shots of Brenda on the beach. They would look great."
"You know that's an idea. I've always wanted to get Brenda in Europe though.
Paris, Rome and Italy. We could even boost sales overseas with a campaign like
that."
Craig's assistant came over and handed Craig a message.
"Will you ladies excuse me ? I have a call to make then we can get started."
"Of course." Lucy turned to face Brenda.
"So, what do you think ? "
"He's nice."
She frowned.
"That's it ?"
"If everything goes well, I'd love to work with him again but the location
thing wwill have to wait. I'm going to be planning a wedding and then we'll be
on our honeymoon. I'll probably get sick of travelling and being in airports."
Lucy took Brenda's hand, examining the ring.
"It's beautiful Bren. Oh, I can't believe you're getting married. I can just
hear all of your male fans getting brokenhearts."
"Well, there's only one I care about .Sonny."
"Boy, you really are in love."
"Don't I know it. I can barely think staright. Do I have time to call him ? I
want to make sure he's okay."
"Brenda, the man is fine. We have a shoot to get through. Let's go."
A few hours later,
Brenda is standing in front of the makeup table, looking in the mirror.
The hair stylist is trying to fix her hair.
"I'll be right back. I left my curling iron in the back somewhere."
Brenda nodded and tried to sit down. All of a sudden she got a sharp pain in
her stomach. She almost fell and grabbed the edge of the table.
Lucy came over to talk to her when she saw Brenda clutching her stomach and
looking pale.
"Brenda ? Are you okay ?"
"Yes, I'm probably..OW."
Lucy helped Brenda stand up. She called to her assistant.
"Call an ambulance. Brenda doesn't feel well." She looked back at Brenda.
"What's wrong ?"
She managed to speak even though the pain was unbearable.
"It hurts."
"Where ?...Oh, come on. Can you walk ? I'll take you to GH. It'll be faster."
"I think so."
"Good. Let's go. Nice and slow."
"Ouch."
"It'll be fine. It's probably nothing."
"I hope so." Brenda whispered. She had Sonny and their future to look forward
too.
General Hospital
Alan admitted Brenda and had some tests run. Lucy was pacing the floor in the
waiting room. Kevin walked by and saw her. He still has his medical license
and works there.
"Lucy, what are you doing here ? I thought you had thsat shoot with Brenda."
"I do. I did. I had to nring her here. She got sick.. I don't know what's
wrong. I've been waiting for Alan to come back out but its been hours almost.
Do you think I should ask if I can see Brenda ? She might need a friendly
face."
Kevin nodded.
"That's a good idea. Where's Sonny ?"
Lucy shrugged.
"I don't..I have to call him. Ned and Lois too. Wait, maybe I shouldn't. It
could be nothing and I'd be worrying tem all-"
"Lucy, I'll go check on Brenda. You go call Sonny and tell him what happened.
I'll be right back."
"Okay Doc."
Lucy took out her cell phone and dialed.
There was no answer at the penthouse so she called Luke's. Hoping Luke would
know where he went.
"Luke's."
"Luke, it's Lucy. Is Sonny there ?"
"Sure Luce. Hold on."
A few seconds later,
"Hey Lucy. How'd the shoot go ?"
Lucy took a deep breathe.
"It went fine until Brenda collapsed."
Sonny blinked.
"What ?"
"We're at GH. She-"
"What happened ? Is she okay ? Never mind. I'll be right there."
Sonny hung up and grabbed his coat.
"Where's the fire partner ?" Luke asked.
"Brenda's at GH."
"What ? Is she okay ?"
"I don't know. I have to get over there."
"Of course. Let me know if there's anything I can do."
Sonny opened the door and ran right into Lily.
"Lily, what are you doing here ?"
"I needed to talk to you about something."
"It isn't a good time. I have to go."
Sonny rushed off past her to his car. Lily stared after him. She shook her
head and walked into the club. She saw Luke and smiled to herself. He'd help
her. Brenda betrayed Sonny with that stupid wire and Luke hated her now.
"Is something wrong with Sonny ?"
"Lucy just called. Brenda's in the hospital."
Lily pretended to be surprised and concerned.
"Oh. Is she okay ?"
"I don't have any details. Sonny just rushed out of here."
"I noticed. I hope she's okay. For Sonny's sake."
"Yeah, me too. I don't know what Sonny would do if something happened to her.
Especially since they're getting married soon."
Lily nearly choked. She was so shoked she didn't cover up her true emotions
whick Luke noticed.
"What ?"
"I thought you knew. They're engaged."
"When did this happen ?"
"Just a few days ago."
"Oh. Luke, you're Sonny's friend and he listens to you. I'm worried about him.
What Brenda did to him hurt him deeply. I know she'll do it again. I don't
want that to happen. Can you talk to him ?"
Luke put down his cigar and studied her for a few seconds before responding.
Lily had put on the most innocent and sincere face she could muster to garner
symapthy and help from Luke.
"If I thought that Sonny was going to get hurt then I might but that's not the
case. I'm sorry but Sonny loves Brenda. He's happy and he's made his choice.
It's not my place to judge his decisions."
Lily nodded, inwardly fuming.
"Forgive me. I was only trying to help. Well, I have some errands to run.
Goodbye."
"Later."
Mike, who was standing in the back listening, finally stepped out.
Luke heard him walking out without turning around.
"What's your take on that ?"
Luke asked while polishing a glass.
"Funny, I was just about to ask you the same thing."
Outside,
Lily got in her car, slamming the door.
"I'll just find another way to handle them then. I don't need their help
anyway. Luke is expendable just like Brenda."
She got an evil grin on her face as she thought of Brenda in the hospital,
probably dead by now.
"Papa did his job well. I'll have to call Antonio and make sure he leaves
town. I have to check all my bases so Sonny can be mine. Free and clear."
Chapter 12
A very worried Sonny rushed into General Hospital. He saw Lucy pacing in the
waiting room and walked over to her
"Lucy. What happened ? Where's Brenda ? Is she-"
Lucy broke into his barrage of questions. He was worse than her sometimes.
She put a hand on his arm, trying to reasure him.
"Brenda's fine. She just got some stomach cramps and almost fainted. We were
almost done with the shoot and I guess-"
"Is she okay ? Where's Alan ?"
"He should be out soon. Kevin went to go find out what's going on."
Lucy saw Kevin walk over.
"Doc, what's wrong with Brenda ?"
Sonny narrowed his concentration to what Kevin was saying.
"She's fine. Alan ran some tests and he couldn't find anything. My guess is
she just needs some rest after the trip and her being on her feet all day
didn't help."
Sonny nodded.
"Can I see her ?"
"Of course. Follow me. Lucy, I'll be right back."
"Sure Doc."
Sonny and Kevin went to Brenda's room where Alan was looking over her. She
smiled when she saw him.
"Hey, you didn't have to come all the way over here. I"m fine."
He sat next to her bed and held her hand.
"Yes I did. I was worried about you."
"That's sweet but I'm really okay. Alan said I could go home."
"Are you sure ?" Sonny asked Alan, not taking his eyes off Brenda.
He put a hand on the side of her face and stroked her hair.
"As long as she gets some rest and eats something, She hasn't had anything all
day."
Sonny looked at Brenda, still holding her hand.
"Baby, I thought you said that you were going to grab something."
"I was but I had to get to the shoot. I was going to grab something later.
Like ...dinner."
Kevin spoke up.
"Brenda, I'm sure Lucy appreciates your dedication but I don't think she wants
you running on empty all day."
"Kevin's right Bren. I'm going to take you home and cook you a big meal and
you're going to eat everything on your plate."
"Is that an order ?"
"You bet. Alan, can we get out of here now ?"
Sonny asked Alan, glancing at him.
"Yes. Go on."
Scorpio Home
Robin was sitting in her room, reading. There was a knock on the door.
"Come in."
Mac stuck his head in the door.
"Hey Uncle Mac."
"Robin, I was wondering if you wanted to go out to dinner with me and at the
brownstone. It'll be fun."
"No thanks. I don't want to intrude."
"You wouldn't be. We'd love to have you and so would the girls."
"I'd love to but I have plans. Jason and I are having dinner together."
"Sounds fun."
"Don't get any ideas. We're just friends. I'm not ready for a relationship.
He's helping me through a rough time."
"I'm glad but I'm here for you too. Remember that."
"I always do."
She got up and hugged him.
"I have to get ready."
Robin said, pulling away.
"Then I'll leave you to that."
Robin went to look in her closet and Mac left.
Luke's
A few hours later,
Sonny took Brenda out to dinner at Luke's. On her insistance.
They sat at a table in the back. She leaned back and rested her head on his
shoulder. He kissed her on the head.
"Tired ?"
"No, happy."
"Me too sweetheart."
"Really ?"
"Yeah. I'm with the person I love. How could I not be ?"
She smiled at him and he felt his heart melt.
Luke spotted them and walked over.
"Hey beautiful. I heard about earlier. Glad you're okay."
"Thanks Luke."
"Anytime. Hey ugly. How's it going ?"
Sonny pretended not to smile.
"Who you calling ugly Spencer ?"
"You. Brenda, can I borrow him for a second ? We've got a problem and I need
your help in the back."
Sonny looked over at Brenda.
"Do you mind ?"
"No, just hurry."
"I will."
He gave her a kiss on the lips before walking off witgh Luke.
Mike was watching from behind the bar. He went over to Brenda when Sonny left.
"Hey Mike. What's going on ?"
"You tell me. I hear you're going to marry my son."
She smiled again and held her hand up to show him the ring.
He whistled.
"That sure is a diamond if I ever saw one."
"I know. It's beautiful."
"My son is a lucky man. You stood by him and didn't give up. Considering he's
not the easiet person to live with, you must love him a lot."
"I do and I'm the lucky one, not Sonny. He never gave up on me and didn't lose
faith. We belong together."
"I know. You know I always considered you my daughter. This just makes it
official."
"Mike, you're going to make me cry and it's not even the wedding day yet."
"Sorry. When is the date ?"
"You know we haven't picked one yet but it'll be soon. I don't want to take
any chances."
"Well, if Michael knows what's good for him, he'll do it soon or you might get
away again."
"It's not going to happen Mike. I'm never letting him get away again and don't
worry. You are at the top of the guest list."
"I wouldn't count on it if my son had his way."
"You can count on it. Sonny won't admit it but he loves you and I want you
there. So does he."
"Just hurry up and make me a grandfather. That'll make both of us happy."
"It would make me happy too Mike. I'd love to have Sonny's children."
"You were born to be a mother."
"I don't know about that."
"I do. Have more faith in yourself. I've got to get back to work.
Congradulations Brenda. I"m happy for both of you. You're going to make it
this time. I don't bet anymore but I'm counting on it."
"So am I."
Luke's office.
Sonny sat down and Luke closed the door.
"What is it Luke ?"
"We've got trouble."
Chapter 13
Luke's
Sonny came back to the table and sat next to Brenda.
"Everything okay ?" Brenda asked him, startling him from his thoughts.
"Hmm ?"
"Sonny, are you even listening to me ?"
"I'm sorry Brenda. I've just got some stuff on my mind."
"You want to talk about it ?"
"No. I can handle it."
"Okay. Look, there's Robin and Jason."
Brenda saw them walk in togethr. Sonny looked up at the door.
"Why are they together ?"
"They're friends. Robin needs someone right now and Jason's a great guy to
have around."
He remained silent as she motioned them over.
"Hey Brenda. Sonny." Robin greeted them.
"Hey sweeite. Jason, how are you ?"
"I'm good. Looks like you are too."
"I am. We both are." Brenda said, taking Sonny's hand in hers.
Robin smiled at her two best friends.
"I heard the great news. Have I congradulated you yet ?"
Brenda looked at her thoughtfully.
"No, I don't think so but feel free to."
"Congradulations. I'm happy for you both."
Brenda stood up and hugged Robin.
"Thanks. That means a lot coming from you."
Jason stood there and watched them.
"What's the good news ?"
Brenda beamed at her good friend.
"Sonny and I are getting married."
Jason smiled.
"That's great. Congradulations."
"Thanks Jason. At least I've got your support. I"m not sure about your family
though."
"Hey,everyone just wants to see you happy. You always have my support."
Brenda grabbed Robin's hand and dragged her to the ladies bathroom after
excusing themselves.
"So ?"
Robin prodded.
"So what ?" Brenda asked innocently.
"Don't give me that. I want to see the ring."
Brenda held up her hand.
"Oh, it's gorgeous."
"I know. I'd love it anyway. Sonny picked it out himself in New York."
"That's so sweet."
"Yeah, it is. You know I've been flashing this ring to everyone I can find."
"I'd be doing that too if I were you. You are marrying the man you love. After
everything, you are still in love and together. You and Sonny have something
special. Don't waste it."
"I don't intend to."
Brenda smiled, fixing her hair in the mirror.
"What's with you and Jason ?"
"What do you mean ?"
"I saw you walk in with him."
"We're friends, Jason's a really cool guy."
"Yeah, he is. I love him like a brother."
"You ready to go out ?"
"Yeah, what's the hurry ? You miss Sonny already ?"
"I always miss Sonny but we left poor Jason out there with Sonny. The table is
probably as quiet as a cemetary."
"You're right. Let's go."
Brenda and Robin walked out of the bathroom, oblivious to the person who was
listening to them in the stall.
Lily stepped out.
"We'll see who ends up in a cemetary you witch."
She said fuming. She went out the back door and walked the short distance to
the Docks.
She spotted Antonio standing there and frowned.
"What the hell do you think you're doing standing out here ? Someone could see
you. And why isn't that little slut dead yet ? If you can't do the job then
I'll find someone who can."
Antonio put another piece of gum in his mouth before answering her.
"You told me to meet you here and there is nobody around."
"Why isn't she dead ?" She hissed.
"Patience Lilleta."
"I hate that name. Don't call me that."
"Corinthos hasn't left her side since she got out of the hospital. I had
orders not to hurt him."
"You better not. What was wrong with her anyway ?"
"Nothing. She just collapsed. I'll take care of her. Just sit tight."
Back at Luke's
Sonny and Brenda finished dinner and the place was quieting don as customers
left. Brenda, Robin and Jason chatted all night while Sonny remained silent.
Jason took Robin home and they were left alone with only Luke there who was
locking the place up.
"You were quiet tonight."
"I have a lot of stuff on my mind."
"I can tell."
Sonny stood up and held out his hand. Brenda took it."
"Dance with me."
"I'd love to."
I'll be your dream, I'll be your wish I'll be your fantasy.
I'll be your hope, I'll be your love be everything that you need.
I love you more with every breath truly madly deeply do..
I will be strong I will be faithful 'cos I'm counting on A new
beginning.
A reason for living. A deeper meaning.
He led her to the middle of the club and put his arm around her waist. She
wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head on his shoulder.
I want to stand with you on a mountain.
I want to bathe with you in the sea.
I want to lay like this forever.
Until the sky falls down on me...
Sonny rested his head on hers. He looked in her beautful eyes and saw love. It
was the same thing she saw in him.
"Do you have any idea how much I love you ?"
She smiled at him.
"I think so."
"Yeah ?"
"Yeah."
And when the stars are shining brightly in the velvet sky,
I'll make a wish send it to heaven then make you want to cry..
The tears of joy for all the pleasure and the certainty.
That we're surrounded by the comfort and protection of..
The highest power. In lonely hours. The tears devour you..
I want to stand with you on a mountain,
I want to bathe with you in the sea.
I want to lay like this forever,
