Chapter 18
''Alright, but we have to go by my rules, and slowly build the trust
we have so long
forgotten.''
''Are you serious? You know, you should've asked for more, I would've
given
anything just for the reassurance of you being back in my life.''
''OK, the first rule then is, you must stay here with me for a week.
No one else, just
us. It will give us a chance at the rebirth of our relationship.''
''That's easy! Consider it done.''
''Oh and Sonny?''
''Yes.''
''I have one more thing.''
''Anything.''
''Kiss me.''
''You don't have to ask me twice.'' He smiled as they leaned close
enough for their
lips to meet. He kissed her very gently and delicately, as if he
feared she'd break.
That didn't satisfy Brenda. She pulled him closer and kissed him like
he was water in
the desert. They slowly relearned the motions of their bodies
together, and the feeling
of not possibly getting any closer. This was the only way to truly
express the extent of
their love, and it didn't even require the noisiness of talking.

So they spent the week in the city. Besides the obvious nighttime
rituals, they used
the quiet time to rekindle the friendship they had almost lost.
Slowly but surely, brick
by brick, the foundation for an
honest relationship was being laid. But that wasn't surprising,
because alone they
always were wonderful. It was the effects other people had on their
relationship that
always intensified an already tedious situation. Brenda was afraid to
go home, to go
back to the lifestyle that had almost ruined the greatest and truest
thing she'd ever
known in her inexperienced life.

Lily sat in her room over Kelly's. She knew he'd gone to find her.
She also knew that
something new was up. He was even more intent on getting her back,
than he was
even 3 days before. This sweet, innocent friend act was getting old,
quickly. She had
to find out what made him hop in his limo, searching for the natural
disaster to her life
that was Brenda Barrett.
Ch. 19
Brenda walked through the door to their apartment above Luke's. They
had
spent the last week at her place in the city (which they decided she
should keep) and it had gone great. Brenda walked around and felt at
home. Then Stone came out of his room and stopped in his tracks.
''Brenda?''
''Hi Stone!'' She went over and hugged him.
''So you and Sonny are back together?''
''Yeah, we are.''
''Man that's great! I knew you two would work it out.'' He hugged her
again,
just as Sonny came through the doors with some of her bags.
''Hey are you trying to make a move on my woman?'' He said laughing
as he
went over to hug Stone.
''Man this is great. You both look happy. This is the best news I've
heard in a long time.''
''Well, Stone prepare yourself for some more. Brenda and I are having
a
baby.''
''this is great!'' Then his expression changed.
''Stone what's wrong. I thought you of all people would be happy
about me
and Sonny having a baby?''
''I am. It's just. Well maybe I should move out.''
''Move out?''
''Look Sonny, you guys are going to need a room for the baby and you
don't need a sick person around Brenda when she's pregnant. you gotta
start doing what's good for your family.''
''Stone you are family. And Sonny and i talked it over our baby is
going
to be fine. What do you think about us getting a bigger place?''

Lily walked into to Luke's.
''Mike'' Lily smiled sweetly '' is Sonny around, I really need to
speak
with him.''
''He just came home''
''Great, thanks Mike.'' She ran up the stairs, and knocked on the
door.
''Lily, hi, come on in.'' She smiled at Sonny.
''Sonny, Hi. I've been a little worried about you since you just took
off
without a word.''
''I'm really sorry about that I was-''
''Sonny what about the Donnelly place- Lily what are you doing
here?''

''Lily what are you doing here?'' Brenda asked as she instinclively
put
her arm around Sonny.
''Brenda you're back.''
''Yes. I am. So what's up, why did you come over?''
''Well, I was -''
''Lily was worried about me when I took off without a word to find
you.''
sonny invited Lily inside.
Brenda was not happy. she figured that Lily had tried to move in on
Sonny while they were separated. But she was holding the trump card
now.
''That was sweet of you Lily. But everything is fine now.''
''So I see. So I take it that you two have worked things out?'' she was
trying not to throttle Brenda.
''Yeah we sure did. Sweetheart do you want to tell her our little
news?''
Sonny was soo delioursly happy he couldn't stop smiling. He had
everything that mattered to him, right there in his arms.
''Well, Lily you see Sonny and I are moving.'' Brenda was purposely
making Lily squirm.
''Brenda, not that! Lily, Brenda and I are having a baby!''
Lily was so taken aback that she thought she was going to faint. A
baby!
this couldn't be happening! She had been working so hard to get close
to
Sonny and now all he cared about was that little wench and her kid.
''Well, lily what do you think?'' Sonny asked her beaming with pride.

Lily stared at Sonny and Brenda. What did she think? Only that this
was
the worst possible thing that could happen to her.
this friend thing just wasn't cutting it any longer. she wanted Sonny
in her arms, in her bed, for good.
''wow! A baby that's... great!!!! you both must be so happy!''
''We are. I am the luckiest man in the world.'' Sonny was smiling,
dimples flaring. Even Lily had to admit that she had never seen him
so
happy.
''So Lily, how's Miguel?'' Brenda asked her as she sat on Sonny's lap
in
the chair. She knew that Lily was hating this and it made Brenda
enjoy
it that much more.
''Miguel is fine. but I'm sure he missed you. You should go see
him.''
Lily stared daggers at Brenda. Bitch!
''Well, Lily we don't mean to be rude, but we have a lot of things to
get
done before we move, so...''
''Oh, of course. I better get going any way I have to get ready for
summer school.''
''See ya later!!'' Sonny said as he showed her to the door.
''So Sonny, as i was saying before we were interupted, what about
the
Donelly place.''
''Over in Harbor View Towers?''
''Yeah! I mean it has alot of space, big bedrooms and a huge
kitchen!!''
''Really! Well, I guess it would be kinda cool to live there. I mean
who
would of thought that Sonny Corinthos would be living in the former
police commisioners place?''
''So can we?''
''Do you want the place?''
''YESSS!!''
''Then it’s yours!!''
''Really? Oh baby this is going to be soo great!!''
Sonny and Brenda continued to celebrate in their normal fashion as he
led her to their bedroom.

''So you think you've won Brenda? Well I haven't even begun to fight
yet.''
Lily walked away from their door with a plan.
Ch. 22
It had been 2 months since Sonny and Brenda had gotten back together and a lot had happened. They had gotten engaged at the Nurses Ball when Sonny had hopped up on stage and popped the question in front of everyone. Then minutes later, AJ had opened his big mouth and soon after everyone new that Stone had AIDS. The three of them had moved into the Donnely place and Brenda was driving Sonny crazy with her redecorating. Lily had become more present in thier lives as she used Stone's illness to get even closer to Sonny.
Brenda heard the door bell ring and ran down the stairs. She opened the door to find Robin.
"Hey Robin, come on in." Brenda said as hse hugged her little sister.
"Hey Brenda. How are you feeling?"
Brenda who was almost 4 months pregnant now looked great.
"Well, the doctor said that everything is great and my morning sickness is almost gone!" As soon as she said that she got a sharp pain in her stomach and felt dizzy. She grabbed the couch alittle and gritted her teeth , until the pain subsided.
"Brenda, are you ok?" Robin asked worriedly.
"I'm fine. I just had a little pain for a second, but everything's fine now."
"Are you sure? I mean do you want to go to the hospital?"
"No, it was probably just gas or something. My doctor said that alot of pregnant women get it and not to worry. Just don't tell Sonny. He flips out about everything, and he has enough to worry about with Stone."
"I know Sonny said that you weren't having the easiest time with this pregnancy, So i was a little worried about you. But are you really sure your alright?"
"robin, don't waste your energy worrying about me, when you have so much going on yourself."
"Well, thinking about you and this baby, helps me forget about the rest of my life. At least for a little while."
They continued to talk about different things until Sonny and Stone came through the doors.
"The two most beautiful women in PC sitting in my living room. How much better can one man's luck get!!" Sonny said as he walked over to them. He hugged Robin and then kissed Brenda. That's when he noticed that she looked a little pale.
"Sweetheart are you ok. You look alittle pale?"
"Sonny, I'm fine. Now what did you two do today?" She said changing the
subject and giving Robin a slight look.
"Sonny and I went to the club to get some stuff done and then he dragged
me to some baby store. I think he drove the saleslady nuts asking all
these questions!" Stone said laughing.
"I didn't ask her that many questions Stone!"
"Anyway, I'm beat so Robin why don't we go up to my room for awhile."
"Alright, buddy. We'll call you when dinner's ready."
Stone and Robin walked upstairs.
"Sonny what is he doing working at the club!! YOu know that he shouldn't
be doing that!"
"Brenda, he wasn't working. He sat at the bar and joked around with Mike
and Luke. He's fine. Now, are you going to tell me what's wrong, or are
you just going to continue to yell at me?"
Ch 23
"I told you nothing’s wrong."
"If you say so."
"Hey boss?" Joseph said sticking his head in the door.
"Yeah Joseph?"
"There’s some people here to see Miss Barrett."
"Who is it?"
"I don’t know. I’ve never seen the guys before."
"Guys?" Sonny asked, with just a touch of jealousy.
"Oh Sonny stop it. Let them in Joseph after you search them of course."
"Already done." Joseph said opening the door wider to admit the
gentlemen. They were tall, muscular guys with flannel shirts and jeans.
Brenda just stared at them in shock for a few minutes and then she flew
into the dark-haired one’s arms as he lifted her up into his arms in a
huge bear hug. Then he let her down and the blonde picked her up.
After he put her down she took a few steps back to look at them.
"What are you guys doing here?"
"We were in some place called Pine Valley for a car race and when we
realized that PC and you weren’t that far away so we decided to stop in
and see you on our way home."
"I don’t believe this. I missed you guys so much. Oh my God Robin is
going to flip when she sees you two. She’s upstairs. I’ll go get her.
Be right back." Brenda ran upstairs leaving Sonny to face the two men.
"I’m Sonny Corinthos." He said after a moment.
"Cory and this is Vance." The blonde man said.
"How do you know Brenda?"
"We’re Rendy’s cousins"
"Rendy?"
"Rendy. That’s what people called me when I was a kid." Brenda said as
she came back in the room, with Robin and Stone in tow. "Cory just
hasn’t accepted the fact that I’m a big girl now."
"Cory, Vance you two look great." Robin said as she gave them both a
hug and introduced Stone.
"So why Rendy?"
"We wanted something as unique as Brenda."
"Aren’t they sweet?"
"Yep. As sweet as sugar."
"I wanna take you guys to dinner. Let’s go to Luke’s." Everyone agreed
and they were off.

Sonny watched as Brenda got ready for bed that night. She’d been
unnaturally quiet all evening.
"Sweetie are you okay?"
"I guess."
"What can I do?"
"You can answer me a question."
"Shoot."
"Why don’t you like my cousins?"
Ch. 24
"Brenda, it's not that I don't like them, I just didn't want you to be
out tonight, that's all." he said trying to convince her.
"Why not? Sonny I told you I'm fine."
"Yeah, but I worry about you. I mean you have so much going on right
now. This pregnancy, taking care of Stone, helping me and Robin, L&B,
Deception, and on top of that the wedding is next month. Sweetheart I'm
just afraid that you are going to wear yourself out that's all."
"So, you didn't want me to have any fun?"
"Well, I was thinking that we could have some fun, but not at Luke's."
he said as he crawled in the bed next to her.
"And what did you have in mind?" she smiled back as he started kissing
her neck.
"I'm sure we could think of something."
Brenda started to giggle as Sonny continued to kiss her neck and slid
her nightgown off. She ran her hands over his bare chest and lowered her
hands to the waistband of his pants. She slid them down and he helped
her pull them off. Soon, both were lying naked on their bed kissing and
admiring each other’s bodies.
Sonny moved his lips down her body slowly until he got to her stomach.
He was amazed to see her showing. Through her clothes you couldn't tell,
but now, her slightly rounded stomach was turning him on. The fact that
she was showing evidence of their child was amazing and thrilling at the
same time. He gently stroked her stomach and kissed it. Then he brought
his head back up to meet hers and kissed her again.
"Thank you for giving me everything I've ever wanted."
"It goes both ways, baby." She smiled and then they made love.

Later that night, Sonny watched Brenda sleep. He stroked her hair as she
slept on his chest. He loved her so much and he couldn't wait to marry
her.
He thought back to this afternoon and her cousins. There was something
about them that he didn't trust, something about their unannounced visit
was off. He was going to have Harry look into that in the morning.
Nothing was going to hurt his family.
Ch 25
"Brenda? Hey Bren, you here?" Sonny called out when he got home one
night a few weeks later. The penthouse was dark and quiet. He made his
way upstairs and walked into his bedroom. Brenda was lying on their bed
looking at a magazine. "Hey sweetheart. How come you didn’t answer me
when I called?"
"I didn’t want to wake everyone up." Her voice sounded odd. Like it
wasn’t hers.
"Hey." She looked up at him and he saw that her eyes were red and
swollen and her face had tear stains all over it. "What’s wrong? What
happened?" She looked down at the bed again and then back up at him.
"He’s really gonna die isn’t he?"
"Who?"
"Stone. It’s really going to happen. Until today I thought that maybe
just maybe there was a chance that he’d live. That there’d be some
miracle and he and Robin would get to live out there lives together.
But it’s not going to happen."
"Nope."
"It’s not fair. News flash, huh? He didn’t deserve it. Any of it."
"Yeah I know. What brought this on?"
"A couple of things. Today Stone got a letter from Jagger. It was sort
of a cleansing of his mind. He told Stone everything he was thinking
and feeling and most importantly he told him never to even suspect that
he had let him down in anyway because he hadn’t. He also said that he
was sorry that he wouldn’t be there to say good-bye when the time came.
It was really sweet and sad and by the time I was done Robin and I were
both in tears and Stone was laughing at what wimps we were."
"What was the other thing?"
"You said that it was a couple of things that made you realize that
Stone was going to die. So what was the other one?"
"Sonny Robin’s HIV positive."
"What?"
"She found out today. She hasn’t even told Stone or Mac yet."
"Is she sure?"
"She said Alan ran the tests twice. She’s sure."
"Is she going to tell Stone?"
"She’s not sure. She doesn’t want to hurt him but she also doesn’t want
to lie to him and he’s the one who asked that she get tested one last
time before he died."
"Oh God. It’s going to hurt him so much Bren."
"Yeah I know. Sonny?"
"Yeah?"
"I don’t want to wait."
"Wait for what?"
"To get married. I don’t want to wait anymore."
"Sweetie, we’re getting married in a month we don’t have to wait that
much longer."
"I wanna get married tonight."
Ch. 26
Sonny looked over at Brenda. Her nightgown was resting softly on her
slightly swollen stomach. She looked so breathtaking, except for her
face. She looked tired and sad, but most of all scared. He had watched
her take care of Stone the last 2 months and he knew how close she was
to Robin. Watching him slowly die was killing them both.
"Sweetheart, I know that you're scared, but Robin's strong and heathly
and she's going to live a long time. I promise you. Now, the wedding is
next month and everything is going to be fine, but you have to settle
down and rest. All this excitement is not good for you or our little
one." He said smiling at her as he ran his hand over her stomach.
"I guess your right. I just want to be your wife so bad. I just don't
want to wait."
"I want you to be my wife too. Now, come here and let's getsome sleep."
He kissed her gently as she snuggled in his arms in their bed. Things
started to heat up as the kisses became faster and more passionate.
Sonny slowly slipped her nightgown off her shoulders and down her body,
kissing her all the way. Brenda unbuttoned his shirt and slid it from
his shoulders and kissed his chest. Her hands wandered down and undid
his belt and freed him from the confines of his pants. They looked into
each other's eyes as they made love.

Sonny rolled over and looked at the clock. It was 5:30 in the morning.
He glanced next to him and saw Brenda. He smiled and then slipped out of
bed. He put a robe on and wandered down the hall. He stopped at a door
and opened it up. It was the nursery for the baby. It wasn't finished
yet, but it still made him smile. He went over to the crib and picked up
a small stuffed bear that Brenda had bought. He had never really thought
about having a family of his own before. He couldn't not in his world,
but all that had changed when he met Brenda. Now all he could think
about was his family. Brenda and their baby, and Stone and Robin, and
yes, even Mike.
Sonny wandered around the nursery looking at everything. He noticed
some papers on the changing table. He picked them up and started to look
thorugh them. They were order forms for baby furniture. Brenda was
already spoiling their child. As he went to put the papers back where he
found them something fell to the floor.It was a sonogram of their baby.
He didn't remember Brenda having a sonogram. He looked at the date, it
was from yesterday. What was going on? Why wouldn't she tell him se was
going to have a sonogram? He walked back into their bedroom and found
her still asleep.
A few hours later Brenda woke up. She instinctively reached out for
Sonny and sat up when she didn't feel him. She looked around and found
him staring out the window.
"Sonny? what's the matter baby? Can't you sleep?"
He turned around and looked at her. He wlaked over to their bed and sat
down next to her. He didn't speak, he just stared at her.
"Sonny? What's wrong?"
Ch 27
"Why didn’t you tell me?"
"Tell you what?"
"About the sonogram."
"How did you find out?"
"I picked up some papers in the nursery and it fell out."
"I’m sorry I didn’t tell you I just didn’t want to worry you
unnecessarily."
"Worry me about what?"
"Well you know I haven’t been having the easiest time with this
pregnancy so I wanted to make sure everything was okay."
"And?"
"Everything’s fine. Dr. Meadows says the baby is completely healthy and
strong."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. Now come back to bed. You look tired."
"So do you."
"I think what we both need is some serious sleep. Do you have any plans
for the day?"
"Not that I can think of. Why?"
"Because you and I are not leaving this room. We’re staying right here
and we’re going to sleep and relax all day."
"Why?"
"Because if we don’t one or the both of us is going to end up passing
out in the middle of some restaurant or something."
"You’re probably right."
Brenda stretched out a hand and Sonny grasped it as drew him back into
bed and her arms. She curled up next to him and put her head on his
chest, tracing a line down the center of it from his heart to his navel
and then lightly tickling his side. He squirmed slightly and Brenda
smiled as she closed her eyes. Sonny looked down at her sleeping form,
smiling as he moved his hand from her shoulder to her stomach feeling
the swelling and silently thanking God that their child was okay. He
closed his eyes and joined Brenda in sleep.

Robin crept away from Sonny and Brenda’s door smiling. She was so happy
for the both of them. She just wished that she and Stone had all the
things to look forward to that Sonny and Brenda did. She slipped back
into Stone’s room and sat down quietly by Stone’s bed, watching him
sleep. He looked so peaceful. She could only hope that when the time
came for him to go he’d look as peaceful and painless as he did right
now.

Brenda opened her eyes with a groan. Being woken up by a ringing phone
was not the most enjoyable thing in the world. She reached over Sonny
and snatched up the phone.
"’Lo?" she said sleepily
"Bren? It’s me. What’s up?" the unmistakable Brooklyn accented voice
said cheerfully.
"Lois? Whadda want?"
"Well it’s nice to hear your voice too, Bren."
"I’m sorry but you woke me up."
"It’s two in the afternoon. What’re you doing sleeping?"
"We’re sleeping so we don’t get run down."
"Who’s we?"
"Me and Sonny."
"You’re sleeping?" Lois asked incredulously.
"Yes we’re sleeping."
"So anyway how’d your sonogram go?"
"Perfectly. The baby’s fine."
"Great. So?"
"So, what?"
"Did you find out what sex it is?"
"Yeah."
"Well what is it?"
"I’m not telling you before I tell Sonny."
"Tell me what Bren?"
Ch. 28
"Tell me what Baby?" Sonny asked as he wrapped his arms tightly around
her waist.
"Lo? I'll call you back." she hung up the phone and turned around to
face him.
"Nothing sweetheart. I just was telling Lois that I didn't want to tell
anyone the sex of our baby, unitl I told you."
"YOu know what we're having?" he asked propping himself up on his elbow.
"Yeah. Do you want to know?"
"Definately!"
"Ok, well according to the sonogram i had done, you are going to be the
father of a beautiful little boy."
"a son? I'm going to have a son?"
"Yeah." she answered with tears in her eyes.
"Do you have any idea how much I love you. Both of you?"
"Maybe. Care to show me?"
He gently kissed her lips before sliding off her nightgown and kissing
her entire body. She worked off his shirt and gently pulled down his
boxers. They made love well into the afternoon.

It was later that day. Brenda had gone over to Lois' to discuss L&B
business and Sonny was in his office talking to Harry.
"sonny, this is dangerous. I mean you got Stone being sick and this baby
thing. Are you sure you can handle all of this?"
"Harry, i don;t really have a choice. Brenda, stone and my son are the
most important things in my life. Now, I'm already going to lose one of
them, I'll be damned if I lose the other two. Now, Brenda hasn't been
asking questions for awhile. She has no Idea what my postion is in the
organization and I don;t paln on her finding out. Now, I 'll call you
tommmorow, but she should be home soon, so you should go."
As Sonny opened the door to show Harry out, he was greeted by Lily.
"Lily? what are you doing here?"
"Uh, Sonny I'll see ya around. Lily it is always a pleasure to see you."
"Bye Harry. Sonny I'm sorry to drop in like this, but I really needed to
speak with you."
"Sure Lily come on in. So what's on your mind?"
"well, I don't know if this is my place and I feel wrong even saying it,
but you ARE my friend and so I feel I have to tell you."
"tell me what?"
"Ned Ashton is having you investigated, and I think that Brenda is
helping him."
Ch 29
After Lily’s statement Sonny ushered her into the office and sat her down.
"Now would you like to explain your statement?"
"I found some papers in the L&B office when I was looking for a piece of paper to write down a number and the papers were accounts of stakeouts taken by Mac Scorpio."
"What makes you think Brenda’s in on this?"
"Ned never liked you and he wouldn’t resist a chance to try and make Brenda see what he thinks you really are."
Sonny sat down on the couch and put his head in his hands. Lily moved closer to him and put his arms around him. "I’m sorry." She whispered.

Robin walked away from the door, seething. That little witch. She had no boundaries to which she would sink to make Sonny hers. She decided to go to Lois’s and fill Brenda in.
"Hey Stone? I’ll be right back, okay?"
"Okay baby." Robin grabbed her jacket and left the penthouse.

"So Miguel’s next concert is Friday at the Outback?"
"Yeah Lo and Eddie’s is next month at Luke’s."
"Great. What about Mary Mae?"
"She’s singing at my wedding and then she’ll do a concert in Phillie in January."
Lois was about to say something when the door flew open and Robin breezed in.
"Robin, what’s wrong?"
"Is Ned investigating Sonny?"
"What?"
"Is Ned having Sonny investigated?"
"No. At least I don’t think so. Lo?"
"No, not to my knowledge. Why?"
"Because Lily was just over at the penthouse telling Sonny that he was and that Brenda was in on it."
