FONG SAI YUK

Rating:
Stars: Jet Li, Michelle Reis, Josephine Siao, Chiu Man Chuk, Adam Cheng
Director: Yuen Kwai
1993, Hong Kong, Eastern Films

Sai Yuk's (Jet Li) father, member of the "red flower brotherhood" triad association, is exposed and captured by a Manchu governor, Kan Mun (Chiu Man Chuk). Kan Mun doesn't want to kill the father so he can get a list of traitors (in his eyes) and members of the triad association. Sai Yuk unites his powers to save his father without telling his mother (Josephine Siao) that he's in trouble.

Excellent wushu from Jet Li, he's perfect for this role, he also claimed the Fong Sai Yuk's character reminds him about himself.
Chiu Man Chuk is great as the evil Manchurian leader. Great actor with great skills.
Chan Lung in the same role he played in "Prodigal Son".
Adam Cheng appears at the beginning and the end playing a Ming hero.

The bad thing about this is the overuse of wires (of course) and the sometimes-silly comedy. Still it has lots of sympathetic comedy too that entertains between the action scenes. So it's a very entertaining movie that you should have if your a Hong Kong film fan.
