This is a forum for reviewing Simpsons episodes, one of the pastimes of alt.tv.simpsons readers. In fact, this site is named in honor of a famous review cliche on a.t.s. (and alt.tv.x-files, alt.tv.friends, etc.), uttered by the Comic Book Guy in "The Itchy and Scratchy and Poochie Show." But reviews on a.t.s. are usually limited to recent episodes, and they fade away with the next wacky adventure. We at the Worst Simpsons Site Ever decided there should be a more permanent way to review episodes.

You can send in your own review, positive or negative, of any episode, and I'll add it to the review page for that episode. Send your review(s) to szyslak@worldnet.att.net. Before writing your reviews, please read the guidelines below.

Note: This feature isn't 100% complete. Putting together a review page is time-consuming, and I can generally complete about five a day. The Reviews feature opened with all of Season 1 and about half of Season 2 finished. I plan to add about five "new" review pages every day; a new page will shortly follow every new episode, and the entire series should be covered by late May or early June. Check the What's New page to see which new review pages I've added recently, and which ones I've recently updated. Even if a review page for an episode isn't up yet, you can still send in your review for that episode, and it will show up when the page is finished. All episodes, whether reviewed or not, are listed on each season page. A listed episode whose review page is incomplete will be shown in gray.

    Scores: (out of 5)

5Classic. Flawless in almost every way.
4Excellent. Not a classic, but still very good.
3Good. Entertaining, as almost all Simpsons episodes are, but doesn't go the extra mile that makes a great episode.
    2Fair. Flawed; has its moments.
1Poor. Needs a lot of work. Most 1 episodes are poorly written and full of bad gags.
0Very Poor. Disastrously bad; a sad day in Simpsons history.

    Guidelines for Reviewers:

    1. Please specify your name and real e-mail address (if not included in the "reply" header of your message) so I can create a link for you. If you wish to remain anonymous or do not want your e-mail address posted, please tell me so.
    2. Please make it clear which episode you're reviewing. You don't have to use the official title, but make sure I know which episode you're talking about.
    3. Treehouse of Horror episodes are reviewed and scored by each individual short, not the entire episode. It's OK to review only one or two shorts in any one Treehouse episode.
    4. Please include a 0-5 score with your review for use in calculating an average for each review. 5 = Classic, 4 = Excellent, 3 = Good, 2 = Fair, 1 = Poor, 0 = Very Poor (see above). It's OK to give a half or partial score (e.g. 3.5, 4.9), but don't give a negative score or a score above 5. Don't use another scoring format (e.g. 0-4, 0-10) or give letter grades (A, B, C, D, F). I need straight, consistent scores to calculate the average for each episode.
    5. Make your review readable. Your spelling and grammar don't need to be flawless, but please observe Netiquette: use punctuation, don't type IN ALL CAPITALS or all lowercase, don't end your sentences with strings of exclamation marks, etc. I may edit glaring grammatical errors.
    6. Keep your review at a reasonable length. It shouldn't be more than about 10 lines.
    7. I respect differing viewpoints, and will publish any review that meets these guidelines, but do not personally insult any reviewer or use foul, obscene or abusive language. If you do, I will not accept your review. When it comes to language, use your common sense. Words like "hell," "damn," and "ass" are okay (they're on the show), but please lay off the "F" word, the "SH" word, racial/ethnic/religious slurs, and the like. If you refer to another reviewer in your review (including me), please make it clear who you are addressing. As a general rule, "That's a dumb idea" is okay; "You're an idiot" is not.
