My loves Runes...!!!

What they say about Norwegians: Born with skies (we are good in winter-sports), proud, but a friendly, open, and happy people. Always smiling, and we tip good.. Love nature, mountains, winter, snow… Known for the negotiators in the middle-east. Had the greatest Winter-Olympics ever in Lillehammer, 1994. Gives the Nobel’s piece price every year. Known as one of the third richest countries in the world. A welfare-state, with a big oil-fond.

*7000 b.c. -People settle down by the coast of Norway.

-*About 800 a.c. The Vikings. Non-Christians that believed in old Nordic mythology. Well, we are known from the Vikings.. The great, bad, and cruel Vikings went to England, Greenland, Iceland, Denmark.. etc.. to kill and rob the people for everything they had. It has been said they were heroic, but personally I find them cruel, evil and greedy. They built great ships, gathered the greatest men, and went in fights..

* About 1020 King Olav “the holy” Haraldsson, christened Norway.

*1349 A dangerous disease comes to Norway from England sailing on a ship to “Bjorgvin” (Bergen), that was the capital of Norway back then. The disease called “the black death”.

*about 1500 Christianity rules in Norway.

People are very strong in their believe, and also superstition gets stronger.

Witch- prosecutions stated by the government were on their highlights.

Young, innocent women were burned on the fire as witches if they didn’t

sink in the water with a heavy stone attached to their foot…

*1814 Until this year Norway had been in union with Denmark and Sweden. May 17, 1814, Norway finally made their own constitution as an independent country. And this is therefor the National Day of Norway, and is celebrated in all cities of Norway every year. Children walk in processions, cheering “hurra”, singing the national anthem, waving the Norwegian flag. Adults watch tem from the sidelines.

*1940 April 9, 1940, the first bombs from Germany are dropped over Norway. And Norway is now included in the second world war against Adolph Hitler and Nazism. No one was allowed to wear red caps, and May 8, 1945, red colours were seen all over the streets.

*2000 Norway’s capital Oslo (formerly called Christiania), were celebrated 1000 years. Norway is still one of the few countries in Europe offered to join the European Union, but turned down their offer..
