Until this year Norway had been in union with Denmark and Sweden. May 17, 1814, Norway finally made their own constitution as an independent country. And this is therefor the National Day of Norway, and is celebrated in all cities of Norway every year. Children walk in processions, cheering “hurra”, singing the national anthem, waving the Norwegian flag. Adults watch tem from the sidelines.

April 9, 1940, the first bombs from Germany are dropped over Norway. And Norway is now included in the second world war against Adolph Hitler and Nazism. No one was allowed to wear red caps, and May 8, 1945, red colours were seen all over the streets.
