THE DOCTRINE OF ONE MIGHTY AND STRONG
Why is there a need for one mighty and strong? We are led to understand that this is to be a male person who holds a powerful priesthood who will use that strong priesthood and oversee a reformation of a church or churches that Joseph Smith built from a hermetic and primitivism Christian theology. This idea of a future hero that works within a patriarchal priesthood hierarchy isn’t a good foundation for understanding this important doctrine because most people in and out of the mother Mormon Church assume this person will work this future reformation within an established organization.
To start out let us look at the main focus for this belief in a strong one and what possible esoteric or hidden meanings can be derived from it. In dissecting the scripture I examine the main LDS beliefs foremost and then my speculations. I am here using Section 85 approved by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints hereafter referred to as simply the LDS.
SECTION 85
*1—5, Inheritances in Zion are to be received though consecration; *6—12, One mighty and strong shall give the saints their inheritance in Zion.
(*1-5 You will notice here that inheritances in Zion are received in a certain way that is consecration. Do people still have inheritances consecrated in Zion?) (*6-12 The LDS hierarchy has placed the One Mighty and Strong hereafter referred to as OMS as a condition for a Zionist inheritance. Will this inheritance be given temporally in the way of land as indicated in this scripture?)
*1 IT is the duty of the Lord’s clerk, whom he has appointed, to keep a history, and a general church record of all things that transpire in Zion, and of all those who consecrate properties, and receive inheritances legally from the bishop;
*2 And also their manner of life, their faith, and works; and also of the apostates who apostatize after receiving their inheritances.
(*1 Is one to understand that the OMS is a mere clerk like a ward clerk is to a Bishop? Is The Lord speaking of the Law of Consecration or is their something deeper to be understood in the possibilities of the OMS beyond a Zionist reclamation and redistribution of the lands around Independence, Missouri?) (*2 It is interesting to note here that the will and commandment of God allows the possibility for future apostates to receive their inheritance by consecration.)
*4 Neither is their genealogy to be kept, or to be had where it may be found on any of the records or history of the church.
*5 Their names shall not be found, neither the names of the fathers, nor the names of the children written in the book of the law of God, saith the Lord of Hosts.
(*4-5 This will cause no small amount of people to understand the warning of God in regards to apostates for even their small children are cursed. No wonder that in the subsequent verse 6 (not copied here) that Smith’s experience of the still small voice was that it “whispereth through and pierceth all things, and often times it maketh my bones to quake.” One is left with a feeling of a spiritual cutting off from the apostates of The Lord in Zion after they have received a portion of Zion. The possibility that apostates will live in Zion throws the oft-quoted Brigham Young temporally vindictive injunction against the innocent peoples in Zion that “not one yellow dog” will inhabit the lands of Missouri when the people of the Lord will receive an inheritance in a whole new light. It is obvious that Young was wrong and Zion and her OMS will not be under the authority of Young’s version of being OMS. Young obviously set the tone for all the proceeding years to create just what Smith foresaw as needing to be reordered.)
*7 And it shall come to pass that I, the Lord God, will send one mighty and strong, holding the scepter of power in his hand, clothed with light for a covering, whose mouth shall utter words, eternal words; while his bowels shall be a fountain of truth, to set in order the house of God, and to arrange by lot the inheritances of the saints whose names are found, and the names of their fathers, and of their children, enrolled in the book of the law of God;
(*7 This verse is the crux of the entire matter of the OMS. Are we to believe that the OMS is a mere clerk of God who allots people consecrated property? What then to make of the methods of allotment detailed in this verse? This must be a powerful clerk who either has supernatural powers or is the head of a dedicated group of people guided by The Spirit in forming Zion in its true form and reordering the Church of Jesus Christ. The shear task of “setting in order the house of God” cannot describe the creation of a splinter group or a charismatic calling away of one of God’s “anointed.” As we will see a spiritual reformation will have to take place in the minds and hearts of the people. The OMS will embody a principle spiritual force in “gathering” the names of the righteous and leaving the apostates in the dark about the events that the OMS will help to take place. The central fact that cannot be ignored in the idea of a powerful clerk or cleric is the fact that he will be more than a subordinate to a bishop like functionary will. This powerful clerk/cleric will issue forth “eternal words” and will arrange by lot inheritances. One cannot deny the fact that the LDS bishop has been reduced and subordinated by the traveling council of the twelve and that the patriarch has been eliminated. From these facts alone one can concur that the OMS will be a “temporal elder” of the highest priesthood and that his ordering will be much more far reaching than the LDS president that sits in judgement of the LDS church today.)
*8 While that man, who was called of God and appointed, that putteth forth his hand to steady the bark of God, shall fall by the shaft of death, like as a tree that is smitten by the vivid shaft of lightning.
(*8 In this verse being “called of God” and appointed seem diametrically opposed. How can the OMS be called of God like Smith as a youth and directed out of the wilderness of erroneous ways and yet be appointed that indicates some organization to start out with in his workings with men? Is there something that points to a person who was appointed like Abraham or something like Samuel in the Old Testament? Will there be a required anointing? I think that one thing is clear here and that is that the OMS will not begin or start as one of the LDS termed “Lord’s anointed.”)
*9 And all they who are not found written in the abode of remembrance shall find none inheritance in that day, but they shall be cut asunder, and their portion shall be appointed them among unbelievers, where are wailing and gnashing of teeth.
*10 These things I say not of myself; therefore, as the Lord speaketh, he will also fulfil.
(*9-10 I believe The Lord is speaking of apostasy and equating the peoples of LDS beliefs who will not accept the “eternal words” that come from the OMS in combining them with the unbelievers. And in verse 10 we see a binding of this curse is evoking The Lord.)
*11 And they who are of the High Priesthood, whose names are not found written in the book of the law, or that are found to have apostatized, or to have been cut off from the church, as well as the lesser priesthood, or the members, in that day shall donate an inheritance among the saints of the Most High;
*11 This is probably the most important verse in the entire understanding of the doctrine of the OMS. It is important because of its relationship to the Old Testament and Isaiah 28:
*1 Woe to the crown, The proud drunkards of Ephraim; Their glorious beauty is as a fading flower, Upon the heads of fat ones that are overcome with wine!
(*1 Isaiah is relative to the OMS since it speaks in the same way to The House of Israel in all dispensations of time. Here we see the injunction against the leadership of The Lord’s House that in our day is the LDS church. In being drunkards The Lord is speaking of drunk with power. It is obvious to anyone that LDS leadership is such today. The fatness and riches of the world combined with their overwhelming sense of leadership in a world church is about the strongest wine you can find on the earth today or in the days of Christ.)
*2 Behold, the Lord hath one mighty and strong, like a tempest of hail, And a destroying storm, and a flood of mighty flowing waters, Shall cast them all down to the earth with the hand.
(*2 The symbolism of the OMS “casting them down to earth” is not as we would think. Speaking in esoteric terms Isaiah never was involved in this kind of neither activity nor was Christ in the temporal sense. In the OMS the same applies. The spiritual “casting” is a putting or sending forth of these leaders into the world to get more drunk and at the same time “with the hand” the OMS will bring forth like the Savior in making the OMS a “fisher among men.”)
*3 The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, Shall be trodden under foot.
(*3 Ephraim is the LDS church. Everyone touched by The Spirit of the Lord understands that His house to be established in our day is the house of Ephraim and the adopted House of Joseph. As to their being “trodden under foot” it is in the same sense as the plain and precious things being taken from them and the world being their comfort. It doesn’t matter how many movies, temples, members the LDS church obtains the “true principles” have been taken from them and they are as the dross. Remember the parable of the servant who was kill by the people he went to in behalf of his master? This servant isn’t a faithful servant in all things be a mere messenger who like the LDS church brings the message but gets trodden by the “lesser things of the world” in the process.)
*4 And the glorious beauty, Upon the heads of fat ones, Shall be as the fading flower, And as early fruit before the summer, Which when he that looketh upon it seeth it, While it is yet in his hand, he quickly eateth it up.
(*4 Look around at the converts and their falling away from the LDS church. They are the “fading flower” that the LDS leadership “fat ones” “quickly eateth up.”
*5 In that day the LORD of hosts shall be for a crown of glory, And for a diadem of beauty unto them that are left of his people;
(*5 The OMS is a diadem of the beauty of the hidden truths of the gospel and the plain and precious principles that Jesus gave us and Joseph Smith expounded to us. The OMS will be given what is left of the LDS church when they hear the symbolic and esoteric truths that pierce the veil of confusion in this world. In this sense the OMS can simply be a more esoteric and “hidden” organization of peoples in Zion. It is interesting to note that fundamental groups of Mormons look to a man when the OMS might be an organization like the Mother who is the LDS church. The OMS might be just a sincere group of people with no Joseph at their head. In the sacred doctrine of the OMS we see organization and possibly an ORGANIZATION instead of a single individual man. In this sense the doctrine is plain and precious and we leave off being the modern Jews looking for another messiah in the OMS.)
*6 And for a spirit of justice to him that sitteth in judgment, And for strength to them that battle at the gate.
(*6 Here is a crucial understanding of the spirit of what is hidden and yet plain. The group or individual the is the OMS will sit in judgement. This is very important to be understood. No amount of converts and no amount of doctrinal agreement with others and no amount of “orders of the priesthood” will determine the OMS. The OMS has a duty to order the House of Ephriam/Joseph in these last days and will do so with the words of eternal truth. Bringing “sealed portions” of knowledge forth and casting the deceit and blindness of the LDS church out into the world or as Isaiah put it “down to earth.” No other priesthood is needed. The OMS will have the “fullness of the Gospel” and the priesthood of the most high. The OMS will have the high priesthood and when the Savior returns will sit in judgement on the priest that is in the president’s seat in the LDS church.)
*7 But they also have erred through wine, And through strong drink are out of the way. The priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, They are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink. They err in seeing visions, and they stumble in judgment. 8 For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, So that there is no place left clean.
(*7-8 This is Isaiah reiterating that the “priest and the prophet” or in other words the LDS first presidency is suffering from “They err in seeing visions, and they stumble in judgment.” In their callousness toward the Gospel and their liberal use of restrictions they stumble. This is where the OMS comes in to gather a group in Zion and give them inheritance and reject the LDS purification. This combination of pride and restricting freethinking and the gathering of all truths in a circumspect whole is what the OMS is to fight against. The OMS is to gather of all truths in a circumspect whole. This is to say reveal the sealed portions. The LDS church is “full of vomit and filthiness” and the process that was started by Joseph Smith is left off and abandoned like a hope for a true Zion and a peculiar people. I the immortal words of Gordon B. Hinkley “we are not weird” sums it up. The LDS will bring the half-truth that the OMS will judge in the last days.
In the OMS we will see a rebirth of Joseph Smith’s teachings 1.His quest for hidden treasures buried in the dark minds of the peoples of the world, 2. Angelic visitations, 3. Involving ceremonial magic in the quest for sealed truths, 4. The receiving of sacred texts both "translated" and received by revelation and from other religious traditions, 5. Further development and adding “degrees” of priesthood in using the rituals and priesthood authority of Freemasonry as a guide, 6. The alchemistic use of temple rites within the marriage ceremony as central to perfection in mankind but not central to salvation always remembering that the Glory of God is Intelligence and procreation and number of wives isn’t a gage to salvation or central to perfection.
Note the following references from the past that indicate how far the current LDS church has strayed in incorporating the mission of the OMS in their newer versions of the Gospel.
"The Mystery Religions, pagan rivals of Christianity, taught emphatically the doctrine that 'men may become Gods.' Hermeticism, which had its rise in Egypt in the second or third centuries B.C., was a prominent religion in the Mediterranean world during the period of the rise of Christianity. Its literature, the Corpus Hermeticum, professes to be revelations to Hermes from his divine father and teacher. Hermes declared: 'We must not shrink from saying that a man on earth is a mortal god, and that God in heaven is an immortal man.' This thought very closely resembles the teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith and of President Lorenzo Snow." (Gospel Through the Ages, p. 110)
"Brethren, this Church will be led to the very brink of hell the leaders of this people. Then God will raise up the one mighty and strong spoken of in the 85th Section of the D.&C., to save and redeem this Church." -Brigham Young
A VISION Written by Elder Joseph Burton to His Wife. Brighton, California, May 26, 1878, Sunday Morning.
I then saw two angels standing with one foot on the sea and one on the shore of the Atlantic, and the Pacific coasts, each having a long rod in his hand with which they smote these coasts simultaneously saying, "Thy bands are broken!" Immediately after which there were many towns and cities destroyed by tidal waves such as were never known before, and much land was covered with water.
I then heard in a clear, full voice from one "mighty and strong," the words, "Come home! Come home!" the sound of which filled the whole earth, and reverberated from the vault of heaven. But none of all the inhabitants of the earth heard it except the "children," those to whom the "servants" had given the leaf.
I saw the "servant" return from whence he started, weary and travel worn, bearing in his right hand the skeleton stalk of a palm. I then noticed many other servants returning also, and I understood that the mission of each had been to stay out until he had given away all the leaves from his palm — one to each person who was worthy, which leaf was a passport to enter through the gate into the temple; and as this servant returned the leafless stalk to him who sent him forth, his eyes beamed with joy, and his countenance became radiant as he heard from him the words, "You have done well and have been faithful. Enter; no power can hinder!" and as he passed through the gate a bright crown of glittering gold descended and rested upon his head; and as he who bound the golden letters upon his arm adjusted the crown to his head, he again spoke, saying: "Now is fulfilled the promise made to you by my Father, that if you would be faithful you should receive a crown when his Son visited the earth again."
The year when Saturn in Aquarius (water) will be conjoined,
With that Sun, the King mighty & strong:
In Rheas will (the OMS) be received & anointed,
After conquests, and the (LDS church’s theological) murder of innocents. - Nostradamus
Though the OMS may not be of Saturn in Aquarius we can learn some possible attributes that the OMS will have be it in an organization or a single person.
Saturn in Aquarius gives strong powers of concentration. Your thinking is both democratic and scientific. Your basically conservative attitudes notwithstanding, inventive and original approaches come easily to you, as well as abstract mathematics and symbolism. You are a good friend, responsible, impartial and always loyal. Cool and collected, you are level-headed and stable. Aquarius is the sign of the future and of progress. Saturn represents conservative restrictions. So this placement is a bit paradoxical and confusing. Often, the placement produces a view of the future that is rather bleak and pessimistic. You may be inclined to work toward the betterment of some aspect of society that is of some particular concern. You may find it hard to make friends and you probably get little support from those above you. Pride may make you a social loner. You have tremendous self-discipline and stamina, and you do not waste your energy on needless tasks. When making plans, you are very practical and careful to be well prepared. Sometimes your goals may seem so important to you that you overlook others' needs to achieve their goals as well. Be tolerant and forgiving of others, even if they are not as "together" as you are. You have a keenly developed mind; your challenge in this lifetime is to develop good relations with others. Saturn in Aquarius-- Excels in Aquarius matters (above) once they stop doubting themselves. There may be a fear of knowing the "truth" that stands in the way.
Saturn is the planet of responsibility, and symbolizes the ethic of hard work. Under its influence a person's character is strengthened through trial and difficulty. It has been said that Saturn disciplines us until we can learn to discipline ourselves. Saturn was also a symbol for Father time, for he brought to an end all things that has a beginning. In astrology Saturn is the planet of diligence, self-control and limitation. Its domain is patience, stability, maturity and realism. Its influence is stern and restrictive, cold and severe. Saturn is called the Celestial Taskmaster, for it teaches us the lessons we must learn in life. In the grand plan of the universe, Saturn does not give us more than we can handle. Under Saturn's influence we achieve by overcoming obstacles and hardship. Sometimes the effort itself is the reward, for effort is what builds character. In the end, what we learn under Saturn's influence we keep for the rest of our lives.
Saturn's position in your chart indicates how well you accept responsibility, whether you are self-disciplined, and what delays and opposition you can expect to encounter. When its influence is prominent you tend to be reliable, trustworthy and patient. Saturn gives the power to endure, and provides the tenacity and perseverance to realize your potential.
And in closing the doctrine of the OMS we can look at some fundamental aspects of the doctrines of OMS and what the LDS church and many of her splinter groups have abandoned in favor of pride and riches:
1. Joseph Smith taught that personal revelation is the source knowledge that leads to salvation.
2. Joseph Smith taught that man is divine only in his intelligence and coequal with God Himself when he strives to approach the intelligence of God Himself.
3. Joseph Smith taught that God is not singular but he taught the doctrine that there are many Gods.
4. Joseph Smith taught that God progressed in advancing His intelligence and experiences with many different “aspects” of the one holistic truth thus he became our God.
5. Joseph Smith taught that man’s greatest power wasn’t procreation like the heretical LDS church teaches but his potential in Godhood by advancing in intelligence and knowledge.
